I dont even know what to say really for what he wrote under the Ravens....was he drunk when he wrote that?

I assume you mean the Boldin thing? Yeah a guy that says that, his opinion is worthless. I guess the only thing he was thinking is the $ Boldin is getting, but it's really not a hefty contract

maybe this is why they are cracking down on drugs in the league. They probably make you say idiotic things like Q wont make the final roster.

To be fair, what he said about Boldin's poor play at the end of the season is completely true. While it is very unlikely that Boldin won't make the final roster, he did disappear for stretches last season. That's something that shouldn't happen to a supposed number one receiver, and I'd definitely like to see Doss and Smith get some play time.

What he said about beating the Roethlisberger is true, as is his statement that we released the wrong assistant coach.

How did his (32-team) ranking change so drastically after the draft? Rookies don't have that big an impact...

I don't care how many receptions a guy has, if he's drawing double and triple coverage, he opens up the field for the rest of our receivers. So # of repeceptions is a flawed stat and this guy is saying that Boldin should be cut because he didn't get a lot of ball thrown his way in the last 6 games. What about blocking? The guy is a hell of a blocking WR. He didn't exactly drop 5 passes a game either and he made clutch grabs at important times as well. This guy is a ****** bonehead. His other rankings were stupid as well.

Ya I meant the Boldin thing, the Flacco being 0-6 against Roethlisberger or w/e the record was is a fact so you cant dispute that.

Why would you even post this? There are a billion websites out there with a billion power rankings created by some 14 year old high school kids with no football knowledge. What's the point of reading those? Do you expect to gain any knowledge or wisdom by reading these? What a waste of time.

WalterFootball is a pretty well known and well visited football site. It was posted because of the ridiculousness of his Boldin comment.

I already stated the power rankings themselves were worthless so I dont know how you missed that.

Everyone knows pre-season rating are useless.

So what if the guy said Boldin is crap, he has a point cause Boldin did not play like his contract. However, everyone knows Cam did not put Boldin in a position to success cause he would make Anquan Boldin run a post or deep routed, when he's a catch after contact guy who doesn't have great speed. Let the writers talk anything about the Ravens because they sure know everything they say is meaningless in this part of the season.

The only way that I think he could justify that statement is that most of what he said about other teams was said tongue-in-cheek. I don't believe that he could genuinely think that Boldin would fail to make a roster off of the back of a disappointing end to last season. His career record, his fairly sizeable contract and the fact that he's only been here a year (in which the entire offense sucked) would strongly suggest otherwise.

I'm also reasonably surprised that he didn't mention the lack of attention to our pass rush when we only put up a franchise low number of sacks last year. Personally, that's our biggest weakness going into the season.

His earlier comments I agree with.

I've read a lot of stupid things during the offseason, but that is up there. And it's amazing that the Colts are always high up just on the virtue of having Peyton Manning, they could go 0-5 to start the season and people will still have them in the top 10.

Now I would actually agree with the statement he made about Torrey and Tandon doing well where someone would get cut if he had said Derrick Mason, not Boldin.

Cowboys again are too high, the Texans are too high as I don't expect much from their 3-4 Defense as long as they don't get a NT and continue to have a crappy secondary(JJ Watt will be a great 3-4 DE but it's a passing league and in that sense Prince made the most sense)

I will disagree with the statement he made about the Jaguars:
"In 2007, the Eagles were ready to win right away, but spent an early pick on a quarterback. Last year, the Panthers had a veteran group that was ready to win, but spent an early selection on a signal-caller. Both teams sucked the ensuing season.

Are the Jaguars next? They were so close to winning the division, that you have to figure that a mid first-round pass-rusher could get them over the hump. Instead, it seems like Jacksonville has one eye focused on the future, which is never a good sign. Because of this, the Jaguars could endure a miserable 2011 campaign."
Jaguars will probably have Gabbert on the Bench for at least a year or two before he takes over, which will give the Jags more time to build a team around Gabbert. Jaguars will be fine.

I remember Boldin being doubled a lot and that's why Mason started getting off toward the end of the year and Cameron sending him on streaks when that's clearly not one of his strengths wasn't helping either. That comment was just flat out dumb to read. Torrey nor Doss will start over Boldin.

*Blink* Our best WR not making the roster? Okay, if he'd have said Mason then I would have given it some thought, and then bashed him. But this logic is so bad... we have several other WRs we can let go that are SIGNIFICANTLY worse than Boldin (i.e. Justin Harper, Brandon Jones, Marcus Smith, or even Housh) that we could cut to make room.

Right about Joe and Cam, but totally off base in reference to Boldin. Cameron and Joe's inability to use Boldin over the middle was the problem.

Not only did he suggest the team's best WR could be cut, he also brought up one of my biggest pet peeves in sports, QB records. Terrible "analysis".

We had three wr with the same skill set on the field, Todd Heap was our deep threat. I loved the Tom Brady ponytail jab.

I think he's wrong about Boldin being cut this year, but if Boldin struggles again, he won't make the team in 2012. We can't justify spending what we spend on him for 3 catches a game. We're almost certainly going to cut Willis McGahee, but who among you will tell me he's not as good a player as Curtis Steele and Anthony Allen?

Walt is trying to say something to generate discussion, and thus, hits to his website. Considering the link was put on this forum, I'd say he's succeeding. I think he makes a valid point, but he puts that point in language that is too inflammatory to take seriously.

If you read what he wrote for some of the other teams then you would realize that the dude is a clown and shouldn't really be taken seriously. The notion that Boldin could get cut over two rookie WR's is ridiculous to say the least.

The whole Boldin thing was strange. Yeah, if you look at it from a YPG perspective, Boldin's production really dropped off. However, in the last three games, Flacco's attempts went from an average of over 30 per game to 20, 19, and 19. In no other game the entire season did Flacco's attempts go below 25. Obviously, if you throw the ball less, your receivers are going to have fewer catches and fewer yards. I've always liked Walt's analyses because they're entertaining, but for a guy who seems to do a lot of deeper analyses and offer pretty convincing explanations for his picks (especially when compared to some of his peers *cough Rang and Reuter*) he really missed the ball on this one.
