Flacco #2 In Deep Passes In 2010
Cam tried to fit them into his system, which calls for fast, downfield recievers
*cough*Donte Stallworth*cough*

it's much easier to see Cam Cameron as the idiot that he shows himself to be, than it is to try to decipher and justifty what goes on inside if his twisted head.

hopefully torrey can live up to the hype and catch some more of those deep passed. I think Flacco is dying to let his cannon go, yet we keep demanding he go to the check down and short routes. Hopefully Torrey can get behind some defences this season.

why would someone a lot slower than even mark clayton who ran a pathetic 4.34 suddenly make a difference downfield? Clayton ran a 4.31 and wasn't fast enough and he ended up being molded into the next Derrick Mason...and Torrey Smith most definitely is going to become that.

Lets see if Torrey can boost that completion percentage and if Cam actually tries to get him the ball on a constant basis.

Torrey Smith isn't going to do anything but worsen the completion percentage if he sees the field next year, his signature is his body catching, of all the WRs on the team he has the worst hands (assuming Justin Harper doesn't make the team).

I'm pretty sure that Mark Clayton ran a 4.41 and Torrey Smith ran a 4.43.

Not that it really matters, but I remember Clayton running a 4.38.There's no real speed difference between the two, but I guarantee Torrey plays much faster than Clayton ever did. And that's coming from a guy who is not a fan of taking Torrey.

Well we won't know until it does or doesnt happen. If Torrey is wide open I have a hard time believing he is going to drop a well thrown ball besides one of his strengths is tracking the deep ball.

Ya Clayton spent too much time around Mason or something cuz Clayton was the least explosive WR who ran a 4.4 Ive ever seen.

come to think of it, you might be right about that.
I still have that amazing catch he made on Leon Hall a couple years ago seared into my memory. Two things stood out to me on that play:

1. Obviously the catch itself. Greatest play of Clayton's career.

2. Thinking to myself "how the heck can a guy that fast get absolutely zero seperation on Leon Hall".

But what a play...an insane throw by Flacco 40 some yards downfield, and just as insane grab by Clayton..

Sometimes people can allow their hate or dislike for a player or situation to cloud their opinions. you can dislike a guy and still give him credit for the things he does well, while critiquing him for the things he doesn't do well.

Torrey Smith isn't a great pass catch right now, however to dispute his speed and big play potential is where some arguments get a bit juvenile.

And some of the doo doo corners he went against in 2009 that he couldnt torch was just odd, and then he goes off against the Steelers for like 130 yards or something ridiculous. Biggest thing Torrey has to his advantage is that 10 split he ran at like 1.58 which was #2 at the combine.

That's because Mark Clayton wasn't used the same way in Baltimore that he was in Oklahoma. Mark Clayton's style is more shifty then fast.

If the Ravens allowed Clayton to run routes that carried him up field, we probably would have seen his explosiveness more. However we generally used Clayton to run routes with his back to the defense, like curls, digs, comebacks and outs.

That straight line speed is much different then actual game speed.

I remember a segment on NFLN about the Top 10 spectacular catches of that Season, and it wasn't even on the list. I thought that it at least deserved to be in the Top 5.

i bet if you changed the name on the back of the jerseys to 'Ryan' and 'White', that would have ranked in the top 5.

Only if Hall is pushed down before the catch is made.
