Mcgahee's Killing Us

76 posts in this topic

The really funny part is my buddy was a real homer during the fantasy draft and has Rice starting :o so I guess he would love that scenario.

How is that really funny? If you're friend is a homer and is banking on Ray Rice starting for his fantasy team than he is counting, or even worse wishing on McGahee playing poorly or getting injured, and those things are not funny to me, they are a festering yeast infection among the fans that post here.

Why is everyone being so hard on McGahee? Does he not run hard? Does he not carry the load? Did he not come to Baltimore and gel nicely with his new teammates and system? This dissent is disgusting. Willis McGahee is a good, tough-nosed RB, who can get the tough yards and hit us the homerun.

To think; a bunch of Ravens fans complaining about Jamal Lewis' replacement showing up to camp a couple pounds overweight.

You don't know that. You don't have any idea as to what kind of shape his body was in over the offseason. You don't have any first hand account of his offseason training program. You're just kicking dirt on him before he's even taken a snap.

And he hasn't taken a snap because he had surgery, not because he reported to the weigh-in after eating lunch and coming in a little heavy. I hate this whole thing. It stinks. You guys are so quick to cut a Raven down because you think something is a certain way and really have no proof, no basis, and no reason.

He runs hard. He handles business out there every Sunday. You just talk all day on forums about what he doesn't do...

I support Willis McGahee, I would like him to take his time getting healthy, and go out there and run hard for us again this year. You guys can feel free to keep chattering about his camp weigh in if you want, and keep telling people (as if you know) how poorly he keeps in shape over the offseason.

The what?

The offseason.

What's that?

You know, when they don't play football games, or practice.

Oh. Well what about the regular season?

Yeah, 1,200+ yards, 8 total TDs in 15 games, carried the otherwise anemic offense and was an Alternate to the Pro-Bowl.

So, why does it matter what he did when they weren't playing football games?

Exactly. Good talk.

its a known fact that McGahee slacks off during the offseason. and yea those numbers are great but imagine what they could be if he was in top shape like im sure LT is in every season

You cannot just call things a known fact without citing sources or even a single example of a source. That's not called a widely accepted fact. That is called hearsay. That's called garbage. Please keep it off the threads, thank you.

Redreed is right. Willis came in last year and saved us from doing any worse. He came in and had an pro bowl year with 8 and 9 men in the box against him every game and a banged up offensive line and he had to learn the offense. He did fine last year and he is going to do fine this year.

Its ridiculous for people that are hating on him for coming into camp a little out of shape. Casey Hampton the pro bowl defensive linemen for the Steelers came into camp 70 pounds overweight! Lets be realistic. And so what if willis is lazy. T sizzle and Ogden are some of the laziest players ever to play on the ravens, but i dont hear anything about them?

Well, I'm not going to compare the situation to any of those, because I see it differently. McGahee just had surgery. Clearly his knee wasn't okay. I think that this has alot to do with him being slightly overweight at camp; because he was staying off of his knee. I don't think he was being lazy at all, I think he was trying to be smart. All of a sudden Ray Rice breaks a 40 yard run against guys who are going to be bagging groceries next week and now you bandwagon riders are claiming McGahee's killing us.

No people. McGahee is saving us from being the worst and most ineffective offense in the league.

I've read alot of 'It's not what he does on the field, but what he does in the off season that bothers me'.

Well, that is the most ridiculous thing i've heard on these boards since... well... everyday, when someone posts something about Troy Smith, Kyle Boller or Joe Flacco, but that's a point for another day.

You have no right to question what a player does when he's not on the field. Especially if he performs on it. These players are not performing monkeys sent to entertain us. They'll live their life how they want, just as we all do. Especially in the offseason. Why do you care what he does off the field if you're satisfied by what he does on it? The only reason you could have for being concerned by his training regimen if he wasn't getting it done on the field. Which he is, behing a leaky offensive line to boot.

I can't wait for Willis to don the purple and black for us this season and pound the rock alongside Ray Rice!

Don't know if it is a bold prediction but i see Rice being a better Jones-Drew..... i think Rice will be a GREAT complement to McGahee. I see Rice doing big things...

Ok......and? The point I was making was that a rookie was started over the incumbent even though the incumbent was putting up real good numbers.

Yeah i feel you but MoJo runs harder than Rice. He runs with more force and power. Rice doesn't seem as strong as MoJo which means a considerable amount. Plus he doesn't seem like a change of pace back like the jags no more. I'd say he's just a smaller Willis actually.

Thats still good of course.

Agreed...

tonight rice put up more goood numbers it seems like we can bank on him having at least one big play a game even if he only has 10 touches both rec. and running

Nooooo...you took that all wrong. It was an uniformed decision...We all love the Ravens here but he doesnt follow much of who's who.
