Mcgahee's Killing Us

76 posts in this topic

1. Mike Preston is the worst

2. Chester and adrian is un fair more like MJD and Taylor from Jacs.

3. Look at ALL the starters that miraculously got healthy right after training camp was over

(exept Dan Cody). Mcgahee is probably really injured but it may not be as bad as he's leading on

4. Starting Rice isn't that bad of a deal he is doing really well? I don't know about barry but he is capable.

5. I just gained 4 pounds writing this reply.

Please do not ever use Mike Preston's writing as a source unless he has quotes from actual players, coaches, or officials. This information is hardly credible unless you show me some source this is bs.

sorry i didn't read the posts after this one yet because this made me so mad

Back on topic, McGahee will be sick and Ray Rice will compliment him perfectly. If you doubt that then hide in the closet when Troy Smith hands the ball off to Willis

im not really familiar with the different writers on the baltimore sun since i live in virginia

it would not be a bad thing for Rice to start week one at least. If the coaches are still questionable about McGahee being ready for the opener, I say let him rest an extra week. I'm pretty sure Rice can hold it down for the first week and during that time, McGahee hopefully will be back in practice continuing to pick up this offense. Then see how he does in week 2 with a little more practice and an extra week to rehab that knee by not rushing into the opener.

Of course best case scenario is McGahee will be ready for the Bungles. Still, I can't believe how some of you guys are questioning Rice's ability. Running Back is, comparatively to other positions, a pretty easy postion to come in and start at from college and in case, you haven't noticed, everyone else: the coaches, the front office, the real fans, even some of the pundits know he has the ability already from what he has done in the offseason so far.

Mike Preston is definately the most opinionated of the Ravens' writers. I actually enjoy his articles, though I don't hold them as fact or agree with them most of the time, they're just very interesting and make you think in different angles. That's what every objective fan needs, right?

I wasn't suggesting sitting McGahee for the season. I'm saying let Rice start a week or two just to make sure McGahee's knee is at 110%, then let them both play.

Oh yeah I know that, I usually enjoy reading his Game report cards among other articles of his but sometimes he just is...is...

That's exactly the point. Even more so that it's a completely new offense.

Yup, I guess Minnesota was stupid for starting Peterson over Taylor as a rookie when Taylor had 1,216 yards in 15 games the previous year. All I'm saying is that this is a completely new offense and it would be stupid to start a guy, veteran or not, that hasn't taken hardly any snaps with the offense. I don't see how anything bad comes of Rice getting the start Week 1. It gives McGahee another week to rest his knee, and Ray Rice might tear it up! I'd hate to have him live in McGahee's shadow only for another team to pick him up and do great things with the kid.
Peterson was a top 10 overall pick lol rice was drafted in the 2nd rd

Four pounds! That ain't no weight! These guys can get in to shape in about 2 or 3 weeks and what type of shape they are in is subjective. A runningback might eat 6000 calories a day just to keep his weight. You're looking at a 16 game season with a tough playoff game or two for some teams. Most top teams don't peak until about the 8th regular season game.

Harbaugh's reaction to McGahee's condition sends a message to our new free agents and rookies. If McGahee comes to camp again out of shape then he might have some trouble. He'll be OK this season if he stays healthy.

Ok McGahee is pissing me off too. He'll be fine. He'll probably start off slow like he did last year. But he is going to be fine. As long as our O line is healthy. Am i the only one worried about Terry or Gaithers? Terry is probably not going to be 100% all year and he is still gonna start. Thats a bad sign with a guy with a bad ankle is still better than the backup. And with no O line it wont matter who is carrying the ball.

Come on, ease up guys. I don't know why you guys are making such a big deal of this. It's ONLY 4 pounds and what has he done that made our team lose games? Nothing, no one should be mad at him right now until we know what is wrong with him. All we've heard it speculated reports from Mike Preston and I haven't heard Adam Schfter or John Clayton say anything about this matter. I'll wait till it comes out of there mouths. Besides, if your going to get mad at him just wait till the regular season starts and then we'll see if he gets lazy and doesn't run the ball the way he should.

I agree with Ravens52. Besides the knee surgery, I don't think there's anything to worry about, just yet. He's getting stronger and more conditioned each day now that his surgery went well. He may not be great right out of the gate, but, as lowrider pointed out, he got better as last season went on, as well.

Ok......and? The point I was making was that a rookie was started over the incumbent even though the incumbent was putting up real good numbers.

Come on guys, enough with the criticism of our STARTING RB... he was in the Pro Bowl last year if I am not mistaken and should be poised to make another run at it, no pun intended :P

McGahee will be among the top 10 rushers in the league this season despite whats being pondered. Everyone will forget the whole issue exsisted once week 1,2 and 3 roll through.

Agreed, but...I'll wait until the regular season plays out to judge him.

I've already criticized his off-season conditioning habits, but that's about as far as I'll go for now.

I just listening to an analyst and said that Willis looked real good in training camp. No word on him being lazy or anything

Looks like Preston was lying after all, good to hear.

I really dont think there's any cause for alarm. It sounds like a typical veteran move to me. The really funny part is my buddy was a real homer during the fantasy draft and has Rice starting :o so I guess he would love that scenario.
