Mcgahee's Killing Us

ok. to be successful at all this season were gonna need a good running game. and im starting to doubt if we can get that out of Willis McLazee. first i hear that he missed most of the voluntary workouts and practices and he reports to camp out of shape and then he gets hurt and now i hear that he doesnt know any of the plays. what is up with this guy? doesn he wanna win? i thought he said he liked playing in baltimore. Ray should be all over him about this. i hope rice turns out to be as good as we hope because he might have to start sooner than we think.

I agree. I say give the nod to Rice on opening day and see what happens. It may do a few things. We might discover the best RB this franchise has every seen, it might light a fire under McGahee's ****** to get his head back into it.

What!? What's wrong with him? He comes to camp 4 pounds overweight and everyone wants him out and Ray Rice in as the starter. HELLO..he just had a pro bowl season. I have no idea where you heard that he doesn't know any of the plays..seriously guys, the McGahee issue isn't big at ALL. The only thing we should be concerned about is his knee being healthy for the opener. Sure Ray Rice is really good but come on...he won't do what Wills does for us. It'd be outrageous to start a rookie over a top 10 PROVEN back.

Yup, I guess Minnesota was stupid for starting Peterson over Taylor as a rookie when Taylor had 1,216 yards in 15 games the previous year. All I'm saying is that this is a completely new offense and it would be stupid to start a guy, veteran or not, that hasn't taken hardly any snaps with the offense. I don't see how anything bad comes of Rice getting the start Week 1. It gives McGahee another week to rest his knee, and Ray Rice might tear it up! I'd hate to have him live in McGahee's shadow only for another team to pick him up and do great things with the kid.

UMMMMM Peterson is a HELL of a RB, way diffrent and not on the same Level. Ray Rice will probally be good but is not no better then McGahee, He knows the playbook and if He's ready by week one thats awesome, we are gonna need Him, but we are also gonna need Rice.

How do we know that until we give him a chance in a game that means something? That's my point.

Not many backs have speed at 235lb overweight with little conditioning, but thats it he relys on his natural ability too much, imagine if he worked hard and came into camp focused, lean and well conditioned.

4 pounds? It's more like 8 lbs! He weighed in at 236 he should be 228 like he was when he cared enough to work in the off-season. He was 230 or more last year and couldn't run more than 2 plays without needing oxygen and an IV. Rice is a tough runner and has a great work ethic. My friend pointed out something pretty cool. Ray Rice has the same build as "The Great" Barry Sanders. I don't know what that means, but it sounds comforting when Willis's health and readiness for this season is uncertain. We need McGahee, but luckily we have a great backup HB in Rice. If McGahee can teach Rice how to pull off that 30 hit combo stiff he does then I wouldn't be as upset with him as I am.

You guys are crazy if you think starting Ray Rice over McGahee is smart... simple overreaction by the fans... just read the other posts about how half the poeple on this board are overreacting about everything thats going on this preseason.... Ray Rice had one decent HALF! so far and in a preseasn game and now he's being worshipped? If McGahee is out of shape it sux but if he does it every years like last year and manages to pull out a pro-bowl season then sh*^ let him do whatever he wants... It's not good but how can you say you dont want him to start or give another guy a shot who has proven nothing in the NFL? Bottom Line is this is nothing new for McGahee yet he still produces... move on

Right on, Last year we diddnt have the o-line and yet He still produced, I think the fact He had to get a IV here and there was because He was doing so much work. But thats the reason we drafted Rice, to be aawesome relief, because we wasnt getting it with Musa Smith.

The biggest trend in the NFL latley is a 1-2 punch, Baltimore was preparing for that.

lol,i know seriously

people saying its his fault his knee was hurt are idiots

and also, with all the injuries we have...how are you seriously worried about him being "4 lbs overweight"...lol,casey hampton is overweight every training camp and he makes the probowl every year

that is exactly correct

the preseason is never mcgahee's time anyhow

he saves his stuff for the regular season

For real..anyone remember last year? McGahee had a HORRID preseason but lit it up during the time when it counted....the preseason.

I wouldn't cut him, nor would I take his starting spot for the season away from him. I would however give Ray Rice the nod on opening day just to prove a point.

isnt it his knee thats hurt right now?

i mean if you are unable to play due to injury its not really your fault

geez get over it

Is the injury subjective or objective?

Plenty of guys allegedly claim injury to stay out of camp. I'm not saying willis is doing this, nor am i saying I think anyone else is, but rumors are still out there...

I refuse to believe that report about the officials being angered and Preston is dumb if he thinks that McGahee is going to be cut after the season AND get limited playing time in the season opener. Come on, that'd be dumbest thing to do. It would only cause problems and start off the season with maybe a loss because of not playing our number one back against one of the WORST run defenses? That'd be really stupid of us..come on..

Oh yeah, T-sizzle55, http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/Wil...prepared/304026

It says McGahee was ONLY 4 pounds overweight.

He can probably cut 4lbs in 15 minutes if he had to.

He probably already did lol...I really wouldn't doubt it

No, it was only 4, bud.

Willis McGahee is a ProBowl RB. He's was great for us last year. Why is anyone upset at him?

I'm not. I'm a fan of as much power in the backfield as possible, mcgahee, smith, rice, etc. bring it on!

heres the link http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/rav...ed_hurting.html

it says officials arent happy about his poor work ethic and he (Mike Preston) wont be surprised if he is cut before the season is over.

Please do not ever use Mike Preston's writing as a source unless he has quotes from actual players, coaches, or officials. This information is hardly credible unless you show me some source this is bs.

sorry i didn't read the posts after this one yet because this made me so mad

Back on topic, McGahee will be sick and Ray Rice will compliment him perfectly. If you doubt that then hide in the closet when Troy Smith hands the ball off to Willis

Running the ball and stopping the run is what the Ravens are going to excel at this year and having Willis in the backfield with Ray Rice is that 1-2 punch we have been waiting for to open up our passing game...
