Foxworth

93 posts in this topic

Why is it so many of us want Foxworth cut? Sure i think he should redo his contract but I dont want to see him gone. He was a great CB for us when he played. If anything those injurys to our CBs should prove we can never have enough depth.

It seems like some of us just think Smith will come in an shut down the league i got bad news for yall he will go thru rookie growing pains like every other player.

I think one reason may be, because many would like to see Wilson and/or Carr stay, but feel it probably wont happen with Foxy coming back. I personally like Wilson over Fox, but certainly don't wan't Fox cut.

Won't we be able to keep most of our CBs even with Jimmy and Brown coming in?

I see Washington definitely going, but who doesn't, and either Wilson or Carr. I feel like most people would rather see Wilson back and I'd have to agree. Wilson has a year under his belt with the D and even though Carr is a solid corner, Wilson has more playmaking ability.

I don't want Foxworth cut. I remember him playing very well towards the end of the last season he played. I hope he comes back from his injury strong.

Why cut foxworth? He's going to be a great #2. I think people have forgotten how well he played in the last 3/4's of tge 09 season. He's a good cornerback. Definitely better than wilson and carr

I think we should give him limited time to start with so he can fully recover but after that im sure he should be fine an back to his 09 shape by season end.

I want both Wilson an Carr. I think many have forgotten Carr was probally are best CB last season. Although he wasnt flashy he was a sure tackler an came up with alot of key plays. I like Wilson alot too tho. We are lucky because a position that was our weakness now just became a strength.

Well most people want to cut foxworth to get Nnamdi Asomajfkdahdcna (cornerback from Oakland). Foxworth was a very good CB when he was healthy and his loss last year was tough for us. I think now that we drafted Jimmy Smith there is no chance we get Nnamdi. Championships are won through the draft not free agency...

Note: I think Foxworth has another 2 years on his contract I believe

Personally i would rather have Foxworth then Aso because hes cheaper an we already have a bunch of options at CB. i dont want to see Aso in our division either tho.

Im just saying tho for those who want us to cut Foxworth other then his contract hes done nothing to warrant him leaving. If anything i think once he gets back out on the field we will understand why we paid him in the first place.

I don't want the Ravens to do that. Financially, it would be foolish.

I like Foxworth.. he played much more consistent than I expected 2 years ago.... I think Foxworth, Smith and Webb make a nice Trio... to cover 3 WR sets...

Foxworth got hurt before Preseason last year so he has had much more recover time than either Webb or Fabian had last year... he should be ready to contribute week 1 (assuming there is a week 1)

I also would like Josh Wilson brought back... with limited cb paly he can focus more on special teams... he was solid considering he joined the squad late had to adapt to playbook

Well I just never believed N.Asumogha was coming to Baltimore unless he took a lesser contract to win... But with Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles willing to bid TOP DOLLAR and over spend.... he is a lost cause...

I'm already unsure Wilson will return because of the CBs on the roster and the additions of Jimmy and Chykie. Josh definitely wouldn't re-sign to be a gunner after he started 11 games last season(including the play-offs) and was arguably the best CB on the team.

I still say that Wilson was the second best behind Carr. We know Wilson and Carr both want to come back to Bmore tho which is a good sign. U never know they might come back for a reasonable price an help us to get that SB we all want.

I'd hate to see Foxy cut. He made huge strides in the second half of his first season here. It's a shame he went down for the entire season before it even started last year. However, he's an intelligent, classy guy who I think would be willing to sit down and restructure his contract to free up some cash and stay in Baltimore.

Those who think cutting him will allow us to sign Asomugha are foolish. We'd have to cut much more than just Domonique to be able to afford him.

I do not understand it either. Anymore, you really need 3 starting caliber corners to be able to defend all of these 3+ receiver sets in use anymore. Not to mention if one goes down with an injury. Wilson in my opinion is on the verge of being a star as I have said in other threads. The Pro Football Focus article that was posted here a few weeks ago helps illustrate that, along with the fact that he had an un-recognized All-Pro type year in '08 for Seattle. I would absolutely love to see him back and he should be one of our priorities after a long term deal for Ngata and a new one for Yanda. I still expect him to test the market if he becomes a UFA though...

I think it would be absolutely foolish to cut Foxworth which is why it won't happen. If we can resign Wilson, he would round out a group of corners which could be unmatched in the league with Foxworth, Smith, and then Webb, Brown, and perhaps Williams more than capable of handling a team's 4th and 5th options. Another reason Foxworth won't be cut and hopefully Wilson is resigned: Jimmy is unproven on a pro level. He has all of the upside in the world and he will only get better as the season progresses, but anyone who thinks he will truly be shutting down pro receivers day 1 I think is mistakened. This is a new level of competition that he will have to get used to and having Foxworth and Wilson on hand will help ease his transition.

Domonique Foxworth is not better than Josh Wilson. In my opinion, he was the best CB on the team in 2010. I pray that Wilson is brought back, and if he is, he deserves to remain as a starter until he's unseated from the position.

I do too, I don't want to lose any of those guys, but its alot to resign, when you figure you have Smith, Webb, Fox, Brown and Cary Williams right now and two FA's. It would be great to sign both let fox rehab and get up to speed. Who knows, maybe you could get some real nice trade bait for either one if some teams need some real corner help a few weeks into the season. It would be a dream to have your defensive backfeild depth chart looking like: Smith, Foxworth, Wilson, Webb, Carr. That would just be sick!

I'll second that. Wilson earned the starting job last year and he should keep it until proved otherwise. As long as he's brought back then I see him and Jimmy starting with Foxworth/Webb being worked in to give them some rest when needed.

Agreed 100%. I remember having this discussion with someone here but I don't think Foxworth is better than Wilson either.

However, having both would be great. Foxworth will need to restructure his contract and I think the Ravens still need to sign either Wilson or Carr. Wilson preferably.

Foxworth isnt going anywhere, the only people who want him cut think we have a chance to get nnamdi asomugha, which is a joke...theres ZERO chance of that but people want to believe it..I dont get it, we have great depth at CB and now with Jimmy Smith he is not needed, why spend top dollar on another CB when we have other players to resign and Flacco is going to get big money...Ngata, etc.

Nnamdi is not coming!! Foxworth is healthy and will be nice to have him back

A 3-man rotation of Smith, Webb, and Foxy could be lights out... throw in a Wilson and/or Carr and you better watch out.

I think Foxy is at least as good as Wilson, probably a hair better. What I like about Wilson is that he has better ball skills. Whichever we can retain at a lower price is the one I'd keep long term

Considering the number of elite teams that like to spread defenses out, you just can't have too many talented corners.

In a perfect world we'd be able to sign everyone, but I'm hoping that Foxworth restructures and we resign Wilson.

I definately wouldnt want to see Foxy cut, but if id have to choose between him, Wilson, or Carr id definately have him last on my list. He played well later in the season, but gave up on a few plays ie. 2009 Cincy game when Ocho had a long bomb TD. I havent seen that with either Carr or Wilson..

I don't remember that happening at all. Foxworth gave up a long pass to Chris Henry(R.I.P.) near the sidelines and didn't seem to realize Henry had caught the ball. When Henry started pulling away, Domonique ran him down inside the 5.

What other plays did he supposedly give up on?

Exactly my thoughts. I would imagine that would be Wilson, given that Foxworth's on a lot of money.

If nnamdi says he'll play for 6 million for one year versus Foxworth for 6 million in 1 year... you pretty much have to.

I expect Nnamdi to get paid like Reevis (7 million ish) as opposed to 10 million, 10 is ridiculous.

Who you'd pick if you could pay them the same amount goes without saying. However, there's a good chance Nnamdi earns more than 7 million per year once the bidding starts.
