Bold Predictions For 2011

59 posts in this topic

My list of events that I think will happen, to the surprise of many:

1. Tandon Doss will emerge as the heir to Boldin's throne by season's end. He will be our #2 til Boldin hangs it up.

2. David Reed will score 4 TD as a return man, and fight Torrey Smith for the team's 'deep threat' role.

3. Jimmy Smith will make the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

4. Kindle and Suggs will combine for 25 sacks.

5. Flacco breaks the 4,000 yard plateau.

6. Ray Lewis has his first mediocre season

7. Ray Rice leads the NFL in total yards, and second in rushing.

What are you bold predictions for 2011?

Man would I love every one of those sans #6. I can certainly see Flacco breaking the 4,000 yard mark this year, Smith could make the Pro Bowl, and Doss could emerge as a talented guy. I cant see Rice second in rushing, but I hope your right on.

My Bold Prediction: There is in NFL by 9/11.

I know, I know! I might seem crazy, but I think we just might have an NFL by then.

Flacco will pass for 4,300+ yards 35 TDs 8 ints, 64.5% and 99 passer rating.

Rice will have 1,900 total yards from scrimage with 1,400 rushing.

The Oline will play much better and that'll be the reason why the offense takes off, but fans will say it's because Cam swallowed his pride.

Ed Dickson will start to push Heap for the starting TE position, with his 30 rec 438 yards and 4 TDs.

Both Reed and Smith will become, not only reliable deep threats, but overall play makers by seasons end.

Both Reed and Smith will have at least 6 ints, Ed will cement his spot as the best Safety to play the game and Jimmy will be snubbed for the Pro-Bowl.

Cody becomes a force on the Dline, Ngata flirts with double digit sacks, Webb holds Wallace to a total of 3 rec 49 yards combined in both Steelers games.

Chuck Pagano uses a more aggressive style defense and Ellerbe flourishes in it. Amassing 85 tackles 4 sacks 2FF 1 int.

The Ravens sweep the AFC North & South. With a 31-0 lead after the second possession of the 3rd quarter in the Christmas even game vs the Browns, Harbs pulls Flacco, Heap, Mase, and Bold, to allow Tyrod, Smith, Doss, Reed, Dickson and Pitta to close out the game.

With a 13-2 record and the #1 seed locked up, the Ravens treat the final game at Cincy like a preseason game. The starters only play the first quarter and the young guys give us a preview of the future.

Justin Harper catches 10 passes in the preseason without a single drop.

Billy Cundriff goes 29 of 30 on FGs as the Ravens do a better job of scoring TDs this year. However it is recognized as one of the best Kickers of the year. Sam Koch finally gets his probowl nod, but doesn't accept it.

On January 22 at M&T Bank, the Ravens will win the AFC Championship Trophy in front of a sell out crowd. 5 days later every one will fill the stadium again to send the off to the Super Bowl in style. Don't plan on going to BWI that day, it'll be crazy.

The Ravens win the Super Bowl, FLacco is named MWP, however people at Espn, and Charley Casserly, still consider Matt Ryan better then Flacco.

Bold enough?

Now that is a Bold Prediction with the way things are going right now.

Here's Mine:

1. Free Agency will happen sometime before Training Camp

2. Ravens sign Donte Whitner to replace Landry at SS

3. Jared Gaither re-signs with the Ravens for a 2 year deal

4. Ngata stays Franchised the whole season, his contract will be handled like Suggs, at least Franchised Twice before signing Long Term Deal

5. Jimmy Smith records his first interception in Week 1 against the Steelers.

6. Torrey Smith & Tandon Doss emerge as our deep threats, Mason is let go mid season(similar to Trevor Pryce last year)

7. Sergio Kindle takes over JJ's spot at LOLB by mid season, has at least 6 Sacks for the year.

8. Josh Wilson re-signs with the Ravens, Foxworth is cut and we go into the season with Jimmy Smith and Josh Wilson as our Starting Corners.

9. Joe Flacco will break the 4000 yard mark.

10. Ravens finally get over the hump of the Steelers and win the AFC North for the first time under John Harbaugh.

11. Ravens will have a Home Playoff Game and the # 2 Seed

12. Ravens for the first time will be a balanced team with both the Offense & Defense leading the Ravens to a Home AFC Championship Game, and eventually to Indy for Super Bowl 46 where the Ravens will win their 2nd Super Bowl Title..... against Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers lol jk.

1. The following players will be selected to the Pro Bowl (* - players of note) -

Ray Lewis
Ed Reed
Terrell Suggs
Haloti Ngata
*Jimmy Smith
*Ben Grubbs
*Michael Oher
Anquan Boldin
Leron McClain
Ray Rice
*Joe Flacco
(11 players)

Please note that this will not matter, as we will be going to the Super Bowl.

2. Joe Flacco will be heavily considered for NFL MVP.

3. We will sign a veteran ILB. It will not be a splashy move.

4. We do not sign Nnamdi.

5. Someone will be bit by the injury bug. Potential season ender. Maybe one of the Pro Bowlers listed above?

6. Ed Reed is the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

1. Flacco over 4,000 yards
2. Suggs, building off his great end to the 2010 season, named Defensive Player of the Year, racks up 15+ sacks
3. Mason collapses, but Tandon Doss takes up his mantle, becoming the first Ravens draft pick to accumulate 1,000 yards
4. Ray Rice gets less than 4.0 yards per carry, major changes on the O-line next offseason
5. Other than Suggs, the pass rush struggles again, racking up less than 30 sacks
6. Terrance Cody takes over for Kelly Gregg and becomes a force against the run
7. Jimmy Smith and Ed Reed get in a sideline feud at some point in the season
8. Ravens probowlers:
Ed Reed
Ray Lewis
Terrell Suggs
Haloti Ngata
Terrance Cody
Todd Heap
Joe Flacco as an injury replacement
9. The return of the Suggs package, with Tyrod Taylor
10. Flacco misses his first game as a pro, Taylor comes in and wins the game, the forums explode, wanting a QB controversy

This is just a fun thought experiment of course. I don't see all this happening, but it could.

Here's mine.

1. Ed Reed starts off by playing lights out and is DPOY front-runner when the injury bug bites 'im.*

2. Tyrod Taylor earns the #2 QB slot and plays well in the games he is given (i.e. 4th quarter blowouts/cupcake games).

3. Ray Lewis has a season unlike any other because he knows his window for another ring is closing.

4. David Reed, Torrey Smith, and Tandon Doss engage in an epic battle for #3 and #4 WR. Then Mase collapses after a crushing hit from James Harrison and Torrey takes up the slack.

5. Jimmy Smith plays like a pro-bowler (7 INTs, 2FF, 80-something tackles, 15+ PBU), and is snubbed because of the evil media overhyping the "lingering" character concerns.

6. Flacco hits the 4,000 mark in the last game.

7. We sweep Pitt in the season series and beat them in the AFC Championship game.

8. Boldin has a 1,300 yard season.

8. We win SB, with Ray Lewis or Joe being named MVP.

Our Probowlers: Ray Lewis and Rice, Anquan Boldin, Suggs, and Flacco.

*: I really really REALLY don't want this to happen, but it's certainly possible. *Crosses fingers*

H1. Anquan Boldin has a pro bowl season
2. Gaither re signs
3. Defense under pagano resembles a true ravens agressive defense once more and is ranked #1 by the end of the season
4. Cody takes over for gregg in the middle. Ravens don't allow a single 100 yd rusher
5. Ravens win the AFCN and home field advantage with a 13-3 record.
6. Ravens finally score a td on Indy, a game winning td catch by boldin

1- Torrey Smith runs about 10 end arounds
2- Flacco continues to progress but continues to get criticized (not a bold statement but it will happen)
3- We go to the superbowl
4- Michael Oher, Ben Grubbs, Terrence Cody, and Haloti Ngata form a Beetles cover band and play the superbowl halftime show
5- After a superbowl win, Ray Lewis will join the cast of Dancing with the Stars

a. The Ravens are tracked through win/loss columns whereby the number of wins and losses add up to 16 during the regular season.

b. The Ravens offer lobotomies for the fans asking for Nnamdi.

c. Ray Lewis sits out a few snaps to have a tickle fight during the Steelers game.

d. Flacco's passer rating winds up in the top 5 ahead of Matt Ryan, but Ryan is somehow better anyway.

e. The Ravens beat the Colts and the Bolts. A third "new" franchise called the Molts pops up and we beat them too.

No question at all.
If we paid attention to last season, we really started to turn Rice into the workhorse back, even handing him goalline duties.
He should see plenty of carries this year, so it's just a matter of how well our OL plays for him.

My predictions :

Reed has right around 8 picks again

JSmith comes along slow, we put him on teams best WRs but with safety help over the top until about week 4 and we start to test him on his own.

We resign Wilson, he likes playing inside on 3 WR sets as hes stated, and give an open competition for RCB with Foxworth in TC, if Wilson wins hes a starter but moves inside so Foxworth can play outside on 3 WR sets.

Lewis has 120 tackle season with 1 int and 2 FF

Pagano uses an odd formation with 3 down lineman on 3rd downs with Kruger, Ngata, Suggs and then Gooden in a 2 point stance outside of Kruger if Kindle isnt ready.

If Kindle is ready he wears the ugliest helmet we've ever laid eyes on and I will love it, 6 sacks his rookie year, but his presence on the pressures will be huge and giving Suggs more looks.

Cody increases his snaps and takes about 55% of the 1st and 2nd down snaps from Gregg.

Torrey Smith gets 400 yards receiving 2 TDs.

Boldin has 1050 yards and 7 TDs

Heap has 445 yards and 5 TDs

Mason has 600 yards and 4 TDs

Suggs has 10 sacks and 65 tackles

Ngata has 6 sacks and 60 tackles

lol I didnt even get the bold part until now. I think Pagano is going to be bringing mad heat if JSmith turns out how he is expected, particularly against teams like Cincy and Cleveland who Suggs usually has a hard time against when we only rush 4 down lineman. And especially if Dalton starts from Day 1 I see us blitzing the living hell out him and leaving Ngata with alot of 1 on 1 opportunities.

Really I hope Kindle just comes back with some ridiculous looking helmet on, like something right out of the middle ages with like a spike on the top, one of those flap down metal visor things that knights rocked. Something outlandish that I can laugh at everytime I see him lol.

Is it even possible for Flacco to go to the Pro Bowl with our style of offense with all the other good AFC QB's? I dont know how many QB's are selected from each conference but if its 3 or less Flacco has no chance (Manning, Brady, Rivers)...sorry Joe
