Jared Gaither

I think this lock out might actually help the Ravens in the Gaither situation. My reason for saying that is, there is a possibility that once a deal is struck, Gaither will be a RFA instead of a UFA. So if he's restricted, that means teams would have to give up a draft pick for him and the Ravens will no doubt put a 1st rounder on him.

This situation will allow the Ravens to tender Gaither to a 2 year contract, but they could have a written agreement that if Gaither remains healthy and plays a certain percentage of snaps, in year one, that the Ravens have to either, pick up the second year and negotiate a new deal or allow him to walk.

IMO this would work out for both Gaither and the Ravens.

Just throw at him a contract with a lot of incentives b/c I would come to his agent and tell him, " Yea, we know Gaither improves our O-line greatly but, he's been out a year and we don't know if whatever injury he has to his back will hold up so we aen= willing to give him anything guarenteed but we will put incentives in his contract and that's the best offer we have for him ".

Yea, let someone like the Raiders pick him up that may go 6-10 next year opposed to him staying on a team that may go 13-3 that's sitting on the brink of winning the championship.

Nothing stays the same in the Nfl. Teams that were on top last year might be one of the worst teams and team that was a .500 team might be one of the best. happens almost every year as teams rise and fall all the time.

It all comes dowen to Raiders oline- can they improve their pass protection. They improve that and there offense is making their next big jump .

Personally I would let Gaither play Lt and move Jared veldheer to Rt. Veldheer in time going to be one of the top Lt but since he came from small Hillsdale , he just dosen't have the experience going against the top pass rushers. Once he gets that his pass protection should improve immensely(sorta like it took dbrickshaw ferguson three years to get to the point he is now) At Rt Veldheer should be ready right now.

I guess Raiders intrest in jared gaither will come down to Hue jackson. What he thinks of him will say alot if Raiders persue him in freeagency.

Ozzie is saying all the right things. Just take it with a grain of salt. He is saying the politically correct things, but that doesn't mean it will happen. Ravens FO usually tends to pick and choose their words wisely, leaving options open and never publicly bashing anyone. This lockout needs to end

I'd love for him to return. Depth on the offensive is vital. We learned that last year. With Jah Reid, We can ensure Yanda is kept at guard but he can also be an insurance policy just in in case we have to move Oher back to the left and start Reid at RT. I'd like to see him return but in the end, it's a possibility he won't return.
