I Saw Brian Billick

25 posts in this topic

He came into Regal Cinemas in Hunt Valley, where I work. He was just standing next to the ATM for the longest time, then went into his movie, The Mummy.

I didn't go up to him to say anything, or ask for an autograph, but I just think it was so cool to see him.

I still like him, no matter what anyone says.

Its true, while he was head coach, there was a coaching staff and a team behind him "making it happen" or making it "not happen"

Sometimes its good for a change, and he certainly represented the leader of what many wanted change from. Very similar to when he had to fire his good friend fassel, it was certainly nothing personal, but something that had to be done business wise.

I would have asked for his autograph. He knew going into his filed that that would be part of the territory, and I'm sure he would be flattered now that he isn't with the team any longer.

Uhhh, you can thank Marvin Lewis for that.

No freaking way. You can thank the talent on the roster for that. Brian Billick gets more credit for that since he was the HC. What has Marvin Lewis done without that roster? Bring one of the worst defenses in cincy. Lolz, thank marvin lewis. More over rated than billick was when he had randy moss. But at least Billick had the best rushing attack in football for a while.

I never blamed billick for our bad season. He had an injury plagued roster. Basically everyone on the Ravens have been blamed over the years like our RBs, WRs, HCs, OCs, GMs, even our Defense sometimes for being "old". The reason the offense has sucked is because of an OL that is one of the worst in pass protection, and the only part of this team that has never recieved any criticism thanks to the presence of JO, the one good player there.

Every year there is a scapegoat, last year it was Jamal Lewis (thanks to no run blocking), this year it was Billick, next year it will be ozzie thats gone, and this OL will still remain mediocre.

Billick had experience, if he was still our coach he would've never worked our players so hard that half our roster is already injury plagued before the season even starts. Now we will have to struggle for a bit before we become a playoff contender again.

I will miss Billick as a HC (not OC) because he was good and I hope he gets a shot somewhere else one day.

1. Yeah, Camp Creampuff would've been going strong for sure. Alot of knees and ankles got injured. I read somewhere that John Harbaugh actually went back in time and brainwashed these guys to play football. All his fault.

2. I'll miss the Used Car Salesman, as well. The man was in over his head the whole time he was here, and was as predictable as a cheap Horror flick.

1.He never worked our players hard..Yea you got that right. We had the only Carribean themed training camp in the NFL.

2.The OL is to blame for every bad season we had under Billick? I seem to remember some pretty good offensive lineman that have come through here during Billick's years.

3.Brian Billick had 0 say in the defensive talent on the roster, thats all Ozzie. Brian Billick can get alot more credit for the offensive talent or lack of on the roster we have had since he was here.

4.I think Marvin Lewis is a good coach, I dont think he is the reason we won the superbowl and I also dont think Brian Billick is the sole reason we won the championship. I think both of them played a part as did all the other players and coaches. Marvin Lewis hasnt had good talent on defense over there since he has been on the team, they continue to draft troubled players on both sides of the ball that bite them in the butt.

Top down. It all starts at the top, the head coach. If management is willing to spend the money, Modell was and so was Bischotti, there is every reason that good coaching should produce a winner.

HAHA, take a look at Cinci's record since Lewis has been coach. He's probally on the hotseat, or very close to it. Everyone of the coaching staff has a part in the draft.( give you a idea how it works ) HC says I need these guys( for instance a LT), The draft evauluator will say I like This LT at #1, this guy at 2, OL coach says, I really like the #2 guy. Ozzie looks at the big picture, We got the number 10 pick, the #1 LT is gonna go before we pick, He can either trade up for Him or wait for the # 2 guy, who the guys on our coaching staff likes anyways, BINGO! They all have a big part in the draft.

Look at Cinci's record before Lewis took over. They hadn't had a winning season since 1990, when Lewis took over in 2003, they had two 8-8 seasons before winning the AFC North

Fine, but it wasnt from there defense thats for sure, The topic was that Marvin lewis brought us a superbowl, which He had ahuge part in, But any DC could have been here and we would have been Number one.

My point wasn't so much that Marvin Lewis was solely responsible for the Superbowl, as that Billick wasn't. I think my post was taken too literal, and it was probably my fault for wording it the way I did.

we gotta give some credit to J. Lew and my man Dilfer too

Couldn't agree more. Personally, I think getting rid of Dilfer completely was the stupidest move this team has ever made. Keep him a year as a backup if nothing else. Getting rid of Stokley was the 2nd. I hear people rag on him all the time, but he was good enough to be Peyton's #3 guy and had a 1000+ yard season, but he wasn't good enough for our team?

Yeah I remember hearing Brian Billick say that Stokley wasn't the prototypical WR of the NFL. Only to see him go to the Colts and kick some ******. Thought it was funny and I was happy that Brandon was actually in a system that knew what offense was, and not one that just pretended to.

i think all of us (to some degree) either already miss him or will miss him eventually/soon enough, simply because he was with this Franchise since 1998-1999, and in which is (so far) the only coach to have brought us a Championship/Superbowl win. The Fact that he was able to have/ develop the Coaching staff that he did, and turn the players views towards winning, in such a short amount of time...in route to a Superbowl 35 Victory i think will tand out as his brightest moments in Ravens history. Sure they will certainly be more Superbowl wins for us in the future, thats just logical thinking.

The Fact that He was the Franchise's FIRST Coach to do it, will remain immortal for all to see for generations to see, years down the road. there are not many Coaches in this league nowadays that can actually say "hey, i've won a superbowl" not very many coaches can actually say that and mean it with dignity. That right there would have to put Billick up into the relm of the select Few head Coaches to win it all.....and capture the hearts and minds of Raven/football fans alike.......he will forever hold...This Franchise's Greatest moment in NFL history.
