Osama Bin Laden Dead

The US says that they have his body.
Thought this would be the right place to make a thread.
Obama should have a statement out soon.

As long as it sticks to the story and doesn't veer into political debate or smearing, this thread should be ok here.

I, for one, feel vindicated by this. My cousin didn't die overseas in a freak accident for no reason.

Sorry for your loss.
My cousin was supposed to go back to Afghanistan later this year, hopefully that changes now though.

How much sooner could this have come if we didn't get sidetracked in Iraq and instead focused on Afghanistan/Pakistan (don't answer this, don't wanna derail the thread, PM if you wanna discuss it).

Thank God.

The next week is going to be extremely dangerous. These terrorists will want revenge. Stay safe everyone.

Yeah, Bin Laden is just one man. There's always someone just as bad or worse to step into his shoes!

Yeah even my mom said something about another person doing something.

Overall this is great news for us, now we can send our Troops Home and everyone can be with their family once again and live happily ever after.

What's going to happen with the body? I have some ideas that probably would be erased if I posted them here lol.

I don't know if it will make a difference in terms of the forces (US & Allies) leaving the Country earlier than previously intended. The Taliban are still alive & kicking!

Amen, man. I joke about it because a jingoistic patriot is the easiest thing to make fun of, but ... I've never forgotten 9/11, and no one in this whole country has. Some things can't be un-sacrificed, and I'm so proud to be American today.

I genuinely feel a sense of brotherhood with everyone right now.

I'm a little nervous for a revenge filled attack to follow up on US Ground. I doubt Al Qaeda is going to fall apart now. They are ticked off.

I really want to take to the streets and cheer, but I live in a suberb and most people were asleep by now. I woke my dad up and told him. We bumped fists. I gave my mom a hug. For years I always got goosebumps and the shakes when seeing pictures or video of the 9/11 attacks and I'd end up changing the channel because it just had that effect on me. And when I saw them tonight, I didn't do that. I just nodded my head knowing he's gone. But this is why I continue to study Arabic. I know there will be more to come.

I let my kids stay up, my youngest barely remembers 9/11 he was in Kindergarten and remembers me picking him up from school early and the police officers on the roof.

This could lead both ways, a wind-down of the conflict or maybe more fighting.

Gotta hope and pray for the former though.

Ok I'm glad he's gone, but I'm not going to celebrate the fact. I understand that it's symbolic for a lot of people.

Why? Because there's still too much hatred and death. And as long as that's on-going, another evil person could rise to take his place.

Me too. His followers can't use a gravesite as a way to martyr his remains (if that makes any sense).
