I think Housh and Stallworth should and will walk. I like both those guys, but if you bring them back then you have the same problem as last year. You have a guy in Housh that you kind of force feed him the ball to keep him from blowing up. With both Boldin and Mason, Housh won't get much targets and they are all similar.

With Smith being drafted and the Ravens having a 1st round grade on him, I think they expect him to play early and often. With him and Reed, i can't see how Stallworth will get much touches.

We need to play these young Wrs like other teams do ( Steelers for exp. ). Maybe keep Stallworth and let T.J. walk and whats the 411 on Marcus Smith, Harper, and Hardy. One, if not, two of them needs to be relesed.
How can you say we need to play these young guys and then follow that by suggesting that 1 if not 2 of our young guys needing to be cut. If Hardy is healthy I think you allow them all to compete. Through draft status, and previous performances out of the window.Throw all that other stuff out the window and focus on football.

J. Harp does a really good job of creating seperation, and he's hands aren't as bad as they seem. It's more about his focus then hands, with doesn't make it any better. However if he continues to work hard he can be a contributor to this offense some time soon.

Hardy is a really interesting guy. Many people view him as a redzone target because of his size and he will be. However he could also be much more. With his size, he'll be a guy that fits with Flacco really well. Hardy, Harper, Doss, Pitta and Dickson could very well provide the size to this offense while Smith, Reed, and Rice provide that explosiveness to the offense.

Smith is a guy who was in that Greg Little mold before he suffered that nasty leg injury. He's starting to get his explosiveness back and that'll help him out alot. A former running back, his role would probably be more of a possession get a few yards after the catch, and don't let the first man bring you don't type guy. However if all he does is be a special teams Ace, i'm more then fine with that.

Imo you gotta added these 3 guys into the mix with the other young WRs because, even though they have been on the time for a while(Harper, Smith) because of veteran presences we really haven't been able to see what these guys can do.

This question is a little premature don't you think? I think it would be fun to visit this question once free agency begins and see who the Ravens decide to keep or let go? Then I think we will have clarity + Training camp tends to weed out the fluff anyways!

Yea, you are right.......just hope they get a chance to play and I'm not talking just special teams. I sort of want Mason to retire to only for the oppurtunity to let these young guys get playing time but I would be a fool to say that b/c Mason is still the best route runner in the business and if he can get most teams #2 Cb or even #3 which I doubt teams will ever do, he would surely be tearing things up. Steelers were smart for putting their #1 Cb on Mason which is Taylor, very smart. I just wish Mason had the speed ( which you really don't need too much of ) to fake the hitch or out route and cut it up field like TJ did on the Steelers in the regular season.

I think this will be Mason's last year in the NFL period, I know it won't happen nor would it be a popular move, but i wouldn't mind trading Mason to a team with a young QB who needs a veteran persence. The Ravens could get a couple draft picks and pick up a couple prospects to maybe help this team down the road. Won't happen, but just saying.

As for the Steelers being smart, as much as it pains me to say it, there's something I think they were really smart to do and i hope Harbs does the same. Mike Tomlin made Wallace and Brown compete during the week in practice for game snaps.

I thought that was really smart for 2 reasons, one it keeps your young guys working hard and proving themselves each day. 2 it keeps those guys focus and hungry. If you're competing for a chance to start or just get quality snap, you're gonna be so focused to make plays and not waste that opportunity that you'll maximize your opportunities.

Now I know it won't happen with Mason, Boldin and Heap. However I would love to see Dickson and Pitta compete on and off the field for game snaps. Have Doss, Smith, Reed, or whoever makes the 53, compete for that #3 spot on a weekly basis.

Like i said last season we seemed to have the mentality of making sure our top 3 WRs got their touches and that left Stallworth and Reed on the outside looking in. I don't think play time should be determined by draft status, or tenure on the team. Compete and may the best man win, that week.

T.J. will leave. He serves no purpose now.

Stallworth will leave for the same reason.

There's interesting FAs out there plusa what we drafted.

Stallworth and Houshmandzadeh won't be coming back due to the youth and number of receivers on the team now, so why would we go out and sign a free agent?

Because some people seem determined to keep TJ around, my point was if you were determined to get another WR FA would be better, plus there are interesting people in other positions (RB for one).

To me the numbers dont stack up. 2 in = 2 out. Might as well be those two. TBH I'd probably cut one or both of M. Smith and Harper and sign Toliver or some other FA.

Smith is hands down one of the, if not the, best gunners we have on this team. If he makes the cut (as I hope he does), it'll be because of his special team contributions. As for Harper, he'll probably end up back on the practice squad, where he's been for the majority of his career with us. Therefore, there's no real need to "cut" him.

Yes, I agree that we have a pretty good group of young WRs, but we can't keep all of them! Harper, Hardy, Doss, Jones, and Marcus Smith can all go and that will leave room for either Housh or Stallworth to stay at least.

Smith downed a lot of balls inside the 10 on punts and also had a block on Webb's Punt Return for a TD that was stolen from us because somehow they called it holding. He's decent on Special Teams but during the pre-season he dropped a pass for a TD. He also dropped another TD pass in the regular season, but I can't remember who. And I just now realized that he's the 3rd Smith we have on the team. We have one on offense, defense and special teams. Just like our super bowl year when we had Jamal Lewis, Ray Lewis and Jermaine Lewis.

and Marvin Lewis.

Flacco wanted Doss specifically. I really don't think we'd dump a 3rd round player to keep a 30+ player.

I dont see either of them returning... didn't we just draft two younger versions of them both in Smith(Stallworth) and Doss(Housh)
