Solid picks for the Ravens. Graduating UMD with Torrey just see him move on to my NFL team. Hell yeah, I can dig it.

Also, Goodbye Stallworth.

I don't hate it. I wanted them to draft athletes not those paul kruger(i know book is still out) high character guys. To me smith is more of a 3rd WR not a every down guy like I believe hankerson is. I would of loved martez wilson really but whatever I'm not upset.

I don't think everyone here would be as excited about this pick if he wasn't from Maryland. High-character gets overblown and I cannot believe we take this guy over Greg Little, who goes to Cleveland with the very next pick. Smith is very likeable, and has speed, but he is a less talented version of Dante Stallworth. He has small hands, and doesn't track the deep ball great. I'm no expert on route running so I won't touch that but I hear that it needs a lot of work. Regardless, despite rumors of Greg Little having character issues, the dude is really not much different than Dez Bryant. Same physical build and athletism, amazing body control and hands. That being said I welcome Torrey with open arms and I hope that he proves me way wrong.

I've not been a big fan of Torrey Smith throughout the draft process, but I have liked the kid and his potential. He knows he has room to improve and he will. Sort of funny how we get one Smith with a litany of character issues and another Smith who by all account has always been an upstanding young man. In any case both Smiths will significantly improve our team in the long run, let's go Smiths!

*yack* Terrible. All I have to say, I'm tired of repeating my displeasure with Smith. If he wasn't a Terp, he'd never even be in consideration for the Ravens.

Not true. Smith impressed at the combine and was possibly the highest valued WR available when we drafted him. Good pick imo. Did you even watch him at MD?

Ugh.. Hankerson? I don't like Torrey I hear he catches balls against his body. Fast but lack of hands. I thought Hankerson looked wayyy better on tape (youtube). Hopefully he can prove me wrong! but at least we got a WR

Terrible? Dude you are a serious downer. Did you hear Harbaugh talking about him? I'll take Ozzie, Eric, and Harbaugh's opinion over yours, thanks.

Whatever.

In Ozzie we trust I guess.. but I still think Houston would of been a better value pick there.
Oh well, do what we need you to do Torrey.

Torrey Smith sucks. This was not BPA at all, it was a total homer pick. They picked him with Leonard Hankerson, Randall Cobb and Greg Little still on the board. Even Brandon Harris was a huge drop at 58. The Ravens never pick the players analysts predict them to take because they have always followed the BPA philosophy and/or traded around, and this year its the exact opposite. And people thinking Torrey Smith is fast are mistaken. He is of average speed (even mark clayton is faster than him who runs a 4.41 compared to smiths 4.43), he doesn't give you the "speed" you think he does. Leonard Hankerson is the next reggie wayne and he gives us the speed we were looking for and has the height to catch the high passes from flacco... and from the U... i can't believe we passed on him. I feel stupid for thinking we go BPA, ozzie's on vacation an decosta is making the picks. This is worse than when ozzie handed 30 mil to Foxworth to give us nothing for 2 years just cuz he was the hometown kid. Why can't ozzie ever draft a good WR in 10 years? He keeps drafting the Mark Claytons of every draft. Im sick. Blah even justin houston was on the board... im sick.

I'm neither upset nor overly excited about the pick, but I do think it's a solid pick. I hope he disproves all the doubters and can be the threat we've been needing. It's probably just me but I think the WR position will be interesting to watch this offseason. Can't wait to find out what we do next.

What? You obviously didn't EVER watch T. Smith at UMD. His main asset is how fast he is along with great awareness. His main concern is route-running, which usually isn't a problem because he normally bombs down the field for a hail-mary...which is what the Ravens need him to do.

Hankerson is still available so far in the third round. Judging from that alone he wasn't worth a 2nd round pick. Heck, we might draft him too!

I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't get an olineman.

Besides Baltimore's history with WRs and their history with the second round, I don't think Smith will contribute very much as long as Cam is in charge. Stallworth is a decent receiver and decent speed and he had more carries than catches.

40 times DONT matter. On film he is fast and thats all that matters.

He is a good pick here, and he is going to work hard to become a good player on this team.

It sounded to me from the press conference that Joe Horitz said the front office had a first-round grade on Torrey Smith and that the Ravens' scouts loved him. Of course, this is the same group of guys that drafted Mark "hot and cold" Clayton, so we'll see how much they've learned since 2005.
