But they say they only need 25 owners to approve the CBA. So hopefully this isn't too much of a problem
I hope it isn't much of a problem either. I'm hoping soon I see the headline: "2010 Rules In Place, Teams may begin Tendering Players." That way I can feel safe knowing that Yanda, Gaither, Wilson, Landry, McClain, and whoever else would be restricted that is a key player would be in a Ravens uniform for at least 1 more season.

In fact I think that might be the best way for the NFL to handle things so it's not all crazy at once. Once a new CBA is done, set a 2 week time period where teams can Tender their own players who don't have 6 years of service before Free Agency begins. If a team did not tender a player they will become Free Agents. This would allow teams to prepare for Free Agency knowing the Free Agents they kept and who they didn't keep.

Got some good ideas. Once the lockout is lifted, it is going to be a crazy couple weeks for free agency. Gonna be exciting for sure.

Apparently Lawyers met with a handful of players today.... and it's not good. According to PFT, the Lawyers are trying to persuade players to "stand firm" and not "roll over" to the Owners.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/27/lawyers-trying-to-persuade-players-to-stand-firm/

Time for the Players to fire these moron Lawyers and continue working toward a CBA, especially if they plan on getting things done in time to open up the new league year by the July 15th.

Owners are pushing for "Right of 1st Refusal" to use on players who are entering their 5th & 6th seasons. The Owners are trying to come to terms with the players that 4 years is the limit for players to reach Free Agency, but are asking for 3 Right of 1st Refusals per team.

Not sure what this means exactly but it seems like we would be able to keep 3 players with the Right of 1st Refusal for at least one more season. I can't imagine the players agreeing to this without some rule where the 3 Players who had the Right to Refusal used on him must test Free Agency the following season and can't be Franchised.

http://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/205968/owners-still-pushing-for-right-of-1st-refusal

If we could get to keep 3 more players with the Refusal thing, I'm keeping Gaither and Yanda for sure and the third would be Josh Wilson.

Negotiations continue tomorrow morning in Manhattan. It is being described as arrived at the 11th Hour of negotiations.

Let's hope something happens this week and we get into Free Agency next week or in two weeks.

Well Papa Johns won't need to make alot of Pizzas, apparently today's meetings are just with the lawyers and that Goodell and Smith aren't going to be there until Thursday.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/05/talks-continue-today-with-skeleton-crew/

Lawyer only meetings kind of scare me because the Lawyers will make sure nothing happens and the lockout drags on even more. We just better hope that this is just Lawyers going over the new CBA and making sure everything is right.

from the sound of its pretty much in stone they are just polishing the details
Sounds like it but just like I thought, the lawyers are screwing this up again. Apparently the Lawyers couldn't agree on the proposed rookie scale and a revised drug program and now sources are saying that the pre-season could be in jeopardy.

Roger Goodell and De Smith aren't scheduled to arrive until Thursday, if they had showed up today, we might have been able to get something done by the weekend, not wait until sometime next week because the lawyers have to mess everything up.

I'm now convinced we could have had a deal done months ago if the lawyers didn't get involved but of course we have nobody but De Smith to blame for walking away from the bargaining session back in March.

This is so totally depressing to hear all of these repetition owners and players reaching new deals. I say reaching new deals my.... Are they trying to get nickles and dimes out of these deals?

This was expected and changes nothing...just means the lockout that was happening (for the last 115 days) is legal to continue.

But guess what? Both sides are still working on resolving this mess......

So, this news mean squat!!

Exactly. Owners and players have come out and said that this won't change anything and negotations will continue despite the ruling.

The fact that we haven't heard anything about the players/owners leaving yet must mean they are still negotiating as we speak. I hope this is the case and something happens over the weekend that will allow Free Agency to happen next week.

NFL Network's Albert Breer posted this on Twitter:

"What I can tell you is it's been a lot quieter here ... Quiet usually adds up to productivity."

Players and owners have come out and said they are going to keep talking despite the ruling so don't worry about the ruling.

DeMaurice Smith is holding a conference call with players to talk about the ruling by the 8th circuit and progress of a new CBA.

He is also unsure if talks will continue over the weekend. Albert Breer has said that they haven't had negotiations on the weekend since February.

It was an "inside" joke.....kind of.

I got into with some dude over in the News section that was acting like today's ruling was the end of the world and that it was shocking news.

Yeah I knew what you meant, but that was just another way for me to include a update on the talks lol, speaking of which it seems talks have slowed once again and talks have concluded after 7.5 hours of talks.

Albert Breer has posted on his twitter who has left, and our very own CB Dominique Foxworth was the first to leave.

He is hearing that face to face talks won't continue through the weekend and will resume on Monday while there will be some "communication" throughout the weekend.
