Adam Schefter Said We Are One Of The Teams Likely To Sign Nnamdi..

155 posts in this topic

I would have thought that the Ravens would have been an outsider in the first place to sign Nnamdi simply because of the lack of salary space. We already have Suggs and Reed who are amongst the best paid in their position, and Ngata who is only a matter of time away from joining that conversation. Having another premiere contract for a defensive player would be a bad mistake IMO.

But dont we have a secondary coach on the field? anyone heard of ED REED? Would rather sign our other top players.

My dream secondary: Smith locking down his side of the field... Wilson being a ballhawk on the other side.... and Reed over the top enjoying it all.... where would the Qb go to??? Nowhere haha.

They would terrorize Dawan Landry 24/7.

I'd love to have aso, but we really need a pass rusher to complement sizzle. Maybe the ravens know something about kindle that we don't.

That's what I was just thinking about Kindle. Three picks gone and no pass rushers taken, so logically it could very well mean Kindle is doing well right now. I just wish we'd have an update soon.

Unless we're planning on cutting Foxworth, and not bringing back Wilson and Carr, this would make no sense. That's not to say that I would mind, but I just don't see it happening.
I'd rather leave him be, let some other team overpay for an aging corner. He's still got a few good years left but we got some CB depth now, resign Wilson and Carr...we're set, I'd rather target a DE in free agency or OLB.

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of sense of urgency to improve on our pass rush and run/pass blocking!!!

I mean seriously, if you think about it our corners were not that bad! Our recievers were not THAT bad either, they just weren't used strategically!

We are soft and vulnerable at several KEY positions like;
DE/OLB; No pass rush to compliement Suggs... I would've preferred to have went for a DE -or- OLB, and then a Wr -or- CB... I trust in OZ, but how would you feel if this is how the first two rounds panned out;

1. Muhammad Wilkerson
2. (Trade Up) Ras I Dowling
3. Torrey Smith

If Nnamdi Asomugha came to Baltimore, I hope we play Atlanta for the Super Bowl because it will be ironic that Atlanta sold half of their draft this year and next year only to get shutdown by our secondary.

1) Nnamdi Asomugha shutdowns Roddy White

2) Jimmy Smith can take care of Julio Jones

3) Our nickle and dime along with Ed Reed should be good enough to cover whoever is the 3rd or 4th string WR

4) We all already know Michael Turner can't run on Baltimore (39 yards against us last year)

5) Since we can put all our corners on islands, we can blitz on Matt Ryan all day

6) Since they didn't address their defense with depth, we can spread Atlanta's Defense out with Boldin, Rice, Heap, Smith, Mason, Reed, Pitta, Dickson just like the Packers.

7) Then after we score 30+ points, we can run their will and time away with our RBs (Anthony Allen looks like a punisher)

Best Scenario against Atlanta Falcons.

If Nnamadi would be willing to play for Foxworth's money to ensure he gets a ring I'd be 100% behind a move of cutting Fox (even though I love the dude) and signing Nmadi. We may even give him a little more if we don't resign Carr. If you think about it (and if Nnamadi would be willing to take a paycheck of a combined Fox and Carr money), having Nnamdi would shut down a side of the field and leave a future CB corp with young players like Wilson, Smith, and Webb.

So lets hope Nnamdi craves a championship.

If Nnamdi Asomugha is willing to play for us for 10 million dollars or less, then I say reconstruct or cut Foxworth and forget signing the other high priced corners because Foxworth, Carr, nor Wilson have the presence of Nnamdi, which tells QBs to look the other way. Wilson and Carr maybe looking for at least 4 or 5 million dollars.

Nnamdi Asomugha can cover any #1 WRs

Jimmy Smith has the tools to cover any #2 WRs

Webb can cover the nickel because he's very shifty

Ed Reed can fill in the rest

Also our Run Defense is strong enough to stuff the run without the help of our secondary.

We can double coverage on anyone else if that 3rd string or 4th string WRs is good, which does not happen in most NFL teams. However, some teams like Indianapolis, Green Bay, Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, New England, and Denver have enough WRs and TEs to play the spread effectively. I think 2 shutdown corners is enough to make offenses to forget about throwing the ball to their top option

Also, with the coverage taking away the legit #1 and #2 targets, I hope we can rush 4 or 5 players to get after the QB.

Trade away what excatly for Dowling, im sure you would have had to surrender our 2nd and our 3rd/4th round pick, and that would mean we wouldnt have got torrey smith, or if you dip in to next years draft you would have to give up your first round pick, which im saying now is going to be used on ed or rays replacement for the next 10+ years, ozzie would never give up that pick, so that secnario of trading up that many spots would just never happen with us..

I'm pretty happy with the draft this year. I feel as though either Ozz knows Kindle will be healthy, or he knows that we're gonna get one in FA. We now have a young reciever corps, and if used correctly, talent to go to the spread offense. If we go to the spread offense, I feel as though Ray Rice would benefit immensely, since he's the elusive runner, but he won't run too many people over in a tight package.

I agree, I would love to have him but to much money for a guy we don't hugely need, they need to spend the money on pass rushers

Which I believe we'll do, as Ozzie said that he will be seriously trying to find a LB in the FA's once it opens up.

While it would definitely be amazing, I really don't see this happening. Lets just lock up one of Carr or Wilson, and go for a less expensive pass-rusher via FA/trade.

Anyone think Kiwanuka is a guy Ozzie could target, hes a proven pass rusher and if his back checks out hes the only guy I can think of who can actually pass rush in FA.

I can see that happening. Another player I didn't know was a FA is Manny Lawson. He wasn't a productive pass rusher as a 9er but is a former 1st round pick and has 3-4 experience. He also turns just 27 in July.

I hate Adam Schefter for making this statement.
Me to lm more than happy with jimmy smith and completely gave up on us signin Nnamdi, but him stating that we still have a chance to sign him is just gettin all of our hopes up again after we all gave up on signing him do to the money he may want. It would be nice, but I don't see it happening especially since we didn't get a passrusher in the draft. If we could sign him our defense might be better than the 2000 year defense. Seeing what everyone else is saying that he may take less money to play for a contender is just getting my hopes up again. Adam Schefter need to keep his mouth shut. I don't want to get my hopes up again and get disappointed. I don't think we need him now because we got jimmy, but it would be nice.

He broke his neck or something extreme like that. I would not spend a lot of money on such a big injury risk

Pretty good LB, but offers very little in terms of pass-rush.

We are going to address the pass rush, as soon as free agency begin Ozzie said they would look around the league and see what's out there

lol like Token said it was a herniated disk. But I doubt Kiwanuka would command very much money and with a portion of McGahee coming off the books would free us up for a mid level FA signing. Kiwanuka is literally the only guy I can think of that can actually pass rush who is available.

DE: Charles Johnson has a big year last year, not sure about his contract situation , maybe in a trade we could pull it off, Cullen Jenkins could be someone that would work, he's not a top guy and he wouldnt cost as much, I've always liked Kiwanuka but he's maybe not as durable lately idk seems like he's always missing a few games, Ray Edwards is another good one but not spectacular..all these guys are good choices

LB: Tamba Hali is going to want top money, I dont know if we can afford him but it would be nice to have him, highly unlikey. Greenway and Paul both put up nice numbers when it comes to tackling but neither put up many sacks, not sure if we'd go there either

OT: im not sure on any tackles

You have to keep in mind the Ravens have players they need to lock up long term and money will go to guys like Ngata and Flacco before we go after other guys....and if the Ravens have money tied up in guys like Suggs and Ngata..like top dollar money that wont leave as much to go after other top guys..I'm sure they will target someone but he may not be top 10 pass rusher, either someone who is young and hasnt fully developed through trade or someone a little older who comes cheaper

Ozzie will have a better idea because they have a list of all free agents out there and possible trades
