Adam Schefter Said We Are One Of The Teams Likely To Sign Nnamdi..

155 posts in this topic

I literally just posted this in the Jimmy Smith thread. lol

I doubt we target him but our defense would be scary if Nnamdi came here.

Unless we're planning on cutting Foxworth, and not bringing back Wilson and Carr, this would make no sense. That's not to say that I would mind, but I just don't see it happening.

I dont see it happening either. Although it would be great. WE'd have to get rid of foxworth and wilson... atleast.

well i would go the route of trading foxworth and cutting/trading carr.. keeping wilson

1st: Nnamdi Asmougha
2nd: Jimmy Smith
3rd: Josh Wilson
4th Lardarius Webb

sounds good to me

we could get some picks for foxworth and carr..

Carr is a free agent so we wouldn't get any pick for him and I doubt anybody would take up Foxworth's contract especially since he's coming off injury. Wilson's also a free agent.

I expect the Ravens to sign either Wilson or Carr(hopefully Wilson) and go forth with that.

I don't see anyone trading for Foxworth. He's a 28 year old CB, coming off an ACL tear, who's making $7 million per year. Not sure who'd be willing to pay him that amount.

There is no way you pass on a opportunity to bring in a Nnamdi Asmougha, for the Right price because you have Foxy or Wilson. I like those guys, but either is nor will they bring what Nnamdi could to this defense.

It's one of those things that i'll believe when i see it, but I'd definitely add him over all of our CBs.

That would be great but does Adam know that most likely the 2010 Rules would be in place and that we wouldn't be able to sign him because we made it to the Final 8???

I'd love this, nothing like having two cornerbacks on the roster. Put Smith on one side (under Reed, of course) and throw Aso on the other. Who're they gonna throw at!?

Seriously... there's no way we'd be able to afford Nnamdi, period.

We would have to dump a lot of players to have that salary. I just don't see it happening. Im more than content with Jimmy Smith.

I want some of what Schefter is smoking! If we hadn't drafted Smith I would see this as a definite possibility and honestly would have rather had Asomugha. Not happening now...

Even if we hadn't drafted Smith, we still wouldn't have been able to afford his contract unless he wants a significant pay cut.

Let them go, put Webb in the nickel and we have a shutdown secondary!

The thought of having Nnamdi and the potential "next Nnamdi" in Jimmy Smith makes me smile. However, then I realize what we probably have to give up to get Nnamdi and I still smile knowing that we don't really need him anyways.

We have to get Ngata under contract first. Unless we can find a way to dump Foxworth's contract, I don't see it happening.

So instead of locking up a 26 year old CB in Josh Wilson, you'd rather have us let him go for a player almost 4 years older, while playing more than twice the amount? I completely disagree. ProFootballFocus.com ranked Josh Wilson as their 5th best CB in the league. Nnamdi's one of my favorite players in the NFL, but this move still wouldn't make much sense.

No matter what the price for him would be it would be worth it. we would have hands down best defense in nfl :argdancingravensblueonwkk8: http://content.boards.baltimoreravens.com/public/style_emoticons/default/argdancingravensblueonwkk8.gif

We are MORE than fine at CB now folks.. we have Smith, who could be the next elite corner, and in my mind, may even be better than Prince when its all said and done with; we have Wilson, who is an up and comer who will definitely benefit since he won't have to worry about being the number 1 corner if Smith is as good as people say he is/I think he is..... we have Foxworth, who yes, is coming off a horrendous injury, but still, he's a great nickel corner/number 2 corner IMO; and we have Webb, who will make huge strides with our new Secondary coach Austin.

Believe me folks, if we were fine in the secondary last year, I have holy visions of what we'll be like this year in the secondary if everyone stays healthy... plus, we have to get Ngata locked up to a long term deal, no questions asked.

Bottom line: we're fine without Nnamdi.

My dream secondary: Smith locking down his side of the field... Wilson being a ballhawk on the other side.... and Reed over the top enjoying it all.... where would the Qb go to??? Nowhere haha.

...until someone gets hurt.

I would love this move if it were cost-effective and if it actually panned out. Better to have too many good cornerbacks, than none at all. Sure, it'll be difficult to pay for them all, but in a pass-first league, you need to be able to stop opposing QBs; whether you stop them by pressuring in the pocket or by taking away their receiving threats, the point is to give them another reason to think twice about throwing. The more cornerbacks, the better, because that position frequently gets hit with injuries league-wide.

I'd like Nnamdi on the team, and don't mind them paying him. But I won't be heartbroken if the Ravens spend the money elsewhere.

Linebackers, a defensive end, offensive line, and I'm still waiting for that "difference maker" at the receiver position. I thought Justin Harper was going to be that guy, but the Ravens don't seem to be too optimistic. Seems like after that one horrible preseason game they sort of gave up on him.

Nah, the Ravens will never have to worry about that. You think two successive cb starters will go down with ACL tears in the same season or something? Oh wait. -_-

In all seriousness, I can't see this happening so I won't get my hopes up. (But if it did somehow go through, I'd probably stop living.)
