The 2nd round would be too early for Matthews in my opinion.

Yeah, Matthews isn't going before the third round... at his highest.

Don Banks projects us to take Rahim Moore (S) out of UCLA. Hmmm...didn't consider a safety. My gut wants either pass rusher or OL
[/quote]

No thanks to a safety in the second. Secondary has already gotten their pick, it's pass rush or receiver, period. The only way I can understand and back picking a safety is if the Ravens know Landry is going to leave via Free Agency. However, I don't even think Moore will be there in the second for us.

As others have said, Casey going in the 2nd is wayyyyy too early.

If we don't get a chance at Titus Young in the 2nd then I'd try and wait till the 3rd to get Edmund Gates to address the WR need. If Titus isn't there I hope we go defense again.

BTW, why are fans so high on Daquan Bowers? I looked up his stats and he only had one good season...just curious.

edit- Thank God for the censor on this board...forgot the U in Titus lol

I would normally agree that WR is a much bigger need than safety, but if Moore is available at 58 that is a great value.

I doubt he will be there, and if Titus Young is also available I would rather draft him. Another player that might be around still is Justin Houston. He could be a huge addition to our pass-rush.

I don't think I could justify back to back picks on the secondary, especially when we've yet to sort out the pass rush or bring in a young, speedy receiver. Not to mention that I think both of those needs perhaps outweighed our need for secondary help in the first place.

I would rather go pass rush or Oline. I dont want us to waste a 2nd on a kid thats not going to see the field an if he does not get used. Im sorry but i have no faith in Cam an using the WR to get the most out of them. I mean we have Vets that we know how they play an what works best an he cant figure it out.

I guess maybe 2nd is to high for him but i really want him which is why i wouldnt mind us getting him in the 2nd. I dont want him snatched up because i think he would be a great fit with our defense.

It's not just fans that are high on him, it's scouts as well. He only had one good Season, but so did Nick Fairley. And Cam Newton. Julio Jones had 500 yards in '09. Bowers was incredibly dominant this year, unstoppable at times. He was in discussion for the #1 overall selection before the injury concerns.

I really am not too worried about the rest of this draft. This team needs to put a playoff run together while Ray Lewis is still here.(as well as Ed Reed and Derrick Mason.... and before Suggs is too old).

I want to know what this team is going to do in free agency. They need another STARTING linebacker. They need a defensive end. There's guys out there, do the Ravens go after some? I really want to know. The Falcons already have Roddy White, and still went after their guy by trading a whole lot to move up. Meanwhile the Ravens were actually trying to trade down AGAIN.

I'm fine with the Jimmy Smith pick, as this team will need corners especially since 3 of them are free agents. But I was very disappointed to hear the Ravens were actually trying to trade down. Perhaps drafting a corner allows the Ravens to focus on starters for other positions in free agency. I have a feeling most of the remaining draft picks just don't be starter-quality, and more depth and building projects.

Great points indeed. Its been noted that before Gaines Adams passed (Bowers best friend), they had a conversation 2 weeks before he passed, and Adams pointed out bowers wastnt applying himself very well and living up to expectations. From that point on, Bowers stepped his game up, worked hard, prepared better... and hence, the break out year. I suspect it to continue as long as his knee holds up. depending on how the board played out, I'd without a doubt consider taking him.

Wow, I didn't know that. That's a touching story. I understand that he's a much better fit for the 4-3 scheme. But with him having practically the same exact size as Tamba Hali, I don't agree with arguments stating it to be a foregone conclusion that he can't be effective in a 3-4. If his knee holds up, I also see him being dominant at the next level, and if he's still on the board, I'm sure that he'll be taken into consideration when we're on the clock.

Couldnt agree more, I can see him fitting in our scheme. His story actually gets alot more sad than that. Within a year, he lost his father spur of the moment, then Gaines Adams, then his long time mentor. And ontop of that he started having the knees issues. Hes a good kid, spriritual, plays in a religious band (electric guitar), the same one his dad played in for the longest time. Hes know their lead guitar player. I feel for him, and hope things turn around for him. If he can keep up the pace at which he played last year (which I personally think he can), hes an amazing value if we can get him even "around" 58....regardless of the knee issues.

They were trading down 3 spots and landing a fourth round pick. C'mon, you act like they were trading out of the first altogether.

That's tragic. I'm rooting for him too. Well said. I agree.

I would have traded down too if we only went back three spots an got a extra pick in the 4th. You gotta think of the value of the picks around 2-4 thats where you can find gems. Plus it wouldnt be like last year where we traded completely out of the 1st round.

WR or pass rusher. If a lot of the WRs start to fall into the third round, I think we should take a pass rusher in the second and wait until the third, and possibly trade up in the third to get one of the WRs that falls into the third.

I'm not "judging based off numbers", I've watched quite a few Maryland games. I've watched Smith first hand and I'm not impressed. Quite a few of fans here aren't impressed. Smith has been discussed to death on this board, he's not as fast as people who love him claim him to be, he's not overly explosive, his routes are sloppy at worst and adequate at best, and his hands are far from consistent.

Young or Cobb would be far better prospects than Torrey Smith.

Wow 4.4 not as fast as we expect. No not at all, I was hoping we would get the Flash from the Justice League.---- But Superman already selected him
