Thoughts On The Vikes Game..

I am interested to see what Gaither can do. If he had stayed in college I believe he would have progressed into a 1st or 2nd Round pick. The invaluable time he got last year filling in for J.O. really sped up his development and while he is still raw, he is waaaay better than Slaughter. I hope he gets over his injuries in time to get some reps either this next game or the 4th one (along with Terry). I think our O-Line COULD be better than people think...

Just remember, thanks to Troy Smith's audible, Ray Rice was able to have that huge 42 yard run. So a point for Smith for that good call.

Even a blind squire finds a nut sometimes

The throw was way behind Clayton... BUT it did touch his hands and if the ball touches your hands you MUST catch it.

there are very few receivers in the NFL that could have made that catch and there are certainly none on the Ravens team. It was a BAD pass. I know the Smith cool aide is tasting pretty good to some peopel here but a bad pass is a bad pass.

Well in the NFL not every pass is perfect, but if the QB is accurate enough to hit BOTH of your hands, then its the WR's job to bring in the catch.

If even Troy Smith is willing to say it was his fault why can't you accept it?

Makes you wonder what the reaction would be if Flacco was able to make that TD pass and how that would affect the QB competition...

Wouldn't have changed a thing for me. He is clearly not anywhere close to being NFL-ready and a good year observing from the sidelines will do him the most good.

Man I was getting so into it at the end of the game, I was like OMG Flacco is driving us with less than 2 minutes, He's about to score! One play left... AIIIIRRRRRR BAAAALLLLLLLLLL I couldn't help but laughing since its only a preseason loss.

As for Troy Smith, many people forget that he's practicaly stil a rookie too and needs time to develop. Sadly, that time is pretty much up. Being a young QB he will have his big plays and his big flops, but hopefully as he gets acclimated to his position those flops will be fewer and further from each other.

Prevent D and 3rd stringers on both sides of the ball aside, I was getting into the final drive pretty big time too. He's starting to feel it a little bit, which is nice to see. Maybe once he gets up to a total of 1 quarter played he'll get into a groove! So far I think he's getting about an average of 6 1/2 minutes per game. Yay!

It's obvious he's still working the learning curve (he's been in the NFL a few weeks now) but I'd love for them to declare one of the other two the starter and give Flacco some more time in Preseason games 3 & 4. Maybe even a whole quarter in a row!

EDIT: And does it seem like Harbaugh is tired of hearing about Flacco or what?

i liked:

The running game, troy smith's scrambling abilities, Troy's and flacco's 2 minute drives(before each of them got picked off of course).

I disliked:

The announcers, the refs making some of the most biased calls i've seen since last december, the O-line, the WR's inability to catch some balls every now and then in key situations, frank walker.

A lot of the media are saying troy didn't look that good because he didn't pass much... but he only had 5 pass attempts. The offense mainly ran the football... did anyone notice when kyle took the field most of the plays were passes? And that interception at the end of the 2nd quarter was so awful, it's like clayton was caught day dreaming when troy threw <_<

All in all, I just hope our starters get healthy before the season opener. If starters can't get healthy, this could be ugly :( but keep in mind, it's only pre-season!

He had 5 pass attempts its true, but He had 10 plays that were pass plays, He was sacked twice( and not all the linemans fault ) and He ran it 3 times, He threw the pick because It was behind clayton, Maybe a elite reciever would ahve caught it? But Troy still should have hit him in stride. The pass to Figures the pass was way high.

Come on people Troy played the hand he was delt. Scrambling for his life and trying to make throws that many veterans have trouble making. I've seen veteran QBs make bone head throws but they don't have every one analyzed like this. Troy played darn well I think. It's time other players stepped up and did something. Block someone. Get open for crying out loud. Dooooo something or get off the field.

Funny that when Boller is in its all His fault, but when troy is in Its everyone else fault on the offense?
