Joe Flacco: Leader Of Men

37 posts in this topic

We've heard rumblings that it would happen but Flacco and company have finally organized their workouts.

It's great to hear the young TEs and even Justin Harper are taking part. I wonder what David Reed's excuse is?

What about Ray Rice he is just as important to offense as well. He gets dump offs and has screen passes to him

We don't need to practice dump offs. We need to expand and develop chemistry further down the field.

But yeah, it's a little disheartening that Reed is apparently not there. If it comes down to it, he may be the only deep/vertical threat on the roster next season.

Great news. Probably the best news I've heard this offseason - outside of re-signing Koch and Cundiff.

Hopefully this leads to more chemistry between Flacco, Boldin, and the young TEs. We know how Mason and Heap have established chemistry Flacco.

Very cool to see Harper there, too. He's working to keep his job.

That better not be the case.

Did I say that? What were my exact words? I never said we need to practice dump offs. Ray Rice is just as important to offense as is Flacco and receivers. Rice should be there as he is also key part to offense.

Hopefully this is the first step of many in the process of Joe taking over the leadership role from Ray. Obviously it won't be done until Ray is gone, but the foundation must be laid out.

I never said you did, but then what is so seemingly urgent about not having Ray down there with them? What exactly can a RB practice with teamates when those teamates don't include an O line and defenders downfield for receivers to try and block?

flacco did this last year, but it didn't help as he didn't have any chemistry with boldin and co. , he had chemistry with the 1 person that wasn't there...ray rice.

true but it still could be good for ray. To see teammates and just get back into groove with offense and start to workout with fellow offensive teammates

This is good news. It also shows that Flacco is taking leadership by organizing these workouts in the first place.

good news to hear! Flacco, Boldin and Harper along with the young TEs need to work out together to get their chemistry on point.

This should be a motivation for you Flacco!

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/09000d5d81f787f0/No-Huddle-Best-QB-in-2011-Draft

NFL experts (including Kurt Warner) agrees that Blaine Gabbert is better than Joe Flacco even when he hasnt even played a down in NFL. Best part is when they use the term "Flacco Offense", which is a term to describe a dumb-downed simplified plays that Flacco uses.

Get the train rolling...prove them wrong..

Only one who said anything about Flacco was Casserly... you can even see Mariucci's head twitch when Casserly says, "To me, he is much better than Joe Flacco."

He was the GM of the Redskins and Texans, until he got canned. This is also the guy who drafted Heath Shuler #3 overall. Yeah, that's all you need to know. I won't even go into how Belichick slammed him, way too easy.

I don't think I've heard a single 'expert' call out Cam Cameron or put the offensive struggles on him as opposed to Flacco. I really don't understand it, you'd think at least one person would have his back and give him the benefit of the doubt.

The only person who said anything remotely disparaging was Casserly, and he's a moron. Did you actually watch the video?

Nobody else said anything really but Casserly, and his term Flacco offense is by design. Harbaugh wants Flacco to play to the defense, run the ball, and be safe with the ball. Flacco is in a position much different than any of the QBs he listed, Bradford, Stafford, Ryan all have to sling the ball 40 times a game to have a chance at winning. Flacco as is shown can throw the ball 10 times, complete 2 of them and we can win a playoff game in New England, if Flacco grew up in the NFL throwing the ball 40 times a game he'd be a more complete QB too. You play to your strengths, and ours is defense, running the ball and play action, its just too bad we dont have a vertical threat we can take shots with in play action.

Nice to see this. Maybe this wil shut up people that say Flacco... never mind, they should have been shut up forever ago.
As far as Reed, he is the NUMBER ONE guy that should be there, at the least tied with Boldin. He has room to imrove, and room to connect with Flacco like no other, so I hope he's busy doing something productive. Nice that Dickson and Pitta will be there though, this will help the team a lot. And Mason contributing should erase any doubts of his possible non-return, but I was not concerned about that possibility.

The interesting thing about his comments to me is, that the same style of offense he seems to be bashing Flacco for, is the same style of offense that made people fall in love with Tom Brady. Now granted Brady did win a SuperBowl or 2 in his first 3 years, but that, play to your defense and running game is how Brady won those rings.

Now i'm not saying Joe is Brady, but that "Flacco offense" that he makes fun out produced a dynasty for the Patriots, so i'll take that.

It's stupid.

Casserly actually goes out and says that Gabbert is better than Flacco, but then from 1:40-2:08, he and Corey talk about the lack of receivers and receivers not getting open for Gabbert. Sounds like the Ravens in the playoffs too, moron!!

I think this will be a huge year for Justin Harper, not necessarily numbers wise, but more in the since of make or break year for him.

I think J Harp has massive potential and he just hasn't been able to put it all together yet. He has the size that would fit well with Flacco, who has a tendency to have a high release at times. At 6'3 226 he definitely has the size to go up and compete for the ball.

He also has pretty good speed for his size. The one thing you've seen with Harper in the preseason is he's able to gain separation. Now he won't be a field stretcher for us, but he'll be a guy that can get deep and beat some one on one coverage on the back side of the defense.

If Harper can come into camp with his mind focused and set on winning a spot in the WR rotation, I think he'll get to see a decent about of time with Joe and the first offense.
