Is there any way to actually see the entire list of names?

Anytime, bud! I'm glad you asked though because I was interested in seeing that list too ;)

He was unblockable in the playoffs, and destroyed Pittsburgh. Had we won that game, I could see Suggs even higher on this list. I think this is about right anyway.
I disagree a little. Not that this has been a good list anyway but I'll be paying attention to the LBs ranked ahead of Suggs. So far, Vilma is one and the league is lying to itself if it thinks he's better than Suggs.

Like you said though, the list itself is a farce. I personally am content by the fact that Eli Manning didn't make it, but to have McNabb on it is a joke, plain and simple.

You have to think Willis and Matthews will be ranked higher, although after thinking about it some more, Suggs is really a Top 20 player when he's on.

He is. Matthews had a great start to the season and made some big plays in prime time and the Super Bowl but as a whole, Suggs was the better player last season.

Suggs' value on run defense too often gets overlooked because the Sack is a much more sexy stat... and it's a real shame.

I think he's the best overall OLB in the NFL.

Yep.

With how often he had his hand in the dirt last season, I like to think of him more as a DE but I agree he's the complete package.

I like watching the segments, but I really don't pay attention to the rankings themselves.

As rediculous as this list can be, we all gotta realize the PLAYERS made this list. They are the ones that play the game afterall. I'd like to think the players would know who's better.

They know who their matched up against and who gets hype on tv. Thats pretty much it. Coaches in my opinion are a better gauge. But everyone ones going to have a different opinion regardless. I don't believe anyone is more qualified than anyone else when it comes to these lists. Die hard fans are just a qualified.

They may play the game but that doesn't mean their opinions, even when evaluating their peers, are sound. Not only is the overall list bad, the positional rankings are even worse.

Am I really supposed to believe Robert Mathis is better than Trent Cole or Steven Jackson and Michael Turner are better than Ray Rice?

Who would know who the best LT in the league is, the Coach, or the DE who lines up against on him? I'd think the DE that faces him.

I understand what you're saying, but what I said above, I'd think OTs know DEs better than us fans do. If for example, Oher thought Mathis was better than Cole, we'd have to take his word for it.

In addition, teams have game plans to target and stop certain players, how do we know who is specifically game-planned against?

It's not that definitive. Said DE might have taken a beating by the LT and walked away thinking he was great. However, a coach who watches more film than the DE may see the LT getting worked by other DEs and feel differently.

That would still only be Oher's opinion. He may play the game but that doesn't automatically make his talent evaluation better than a writer, analyst or even a fan. I'm glad you mentioned him though. In his two-year career, he's faced Mathis twice but he's never gone against Cole. He's never even really had to watch film on him. So why should I take his word that one player is better than another when he hasn't even faced one of them?

Who teams are game-planning for isn't always evident but with enough film study, that information can be deciphered.
I'd like to think the players have personal biases due to friendship/team allegiance/other external factors and are as prone to making mistakes as anyone else, since after all, opinions are just opinions. I mean, how the heck would Ray Lewis know from firsthand experience that Eli Manning is better than Tony Romo (other than the one game every four years he plays against them)??
OK seriously.....how can DeSean Jackson be 29? How is he not top 15 or 20? The guy is a legitimate threat to score anytime he gets the ball. I think that's why they voted Hester in at 32. He's such a special threat in the return game, but not a great WR. Jackson is both, yet he's only 29? Just three spots ahead of Hester.

The only negatives I can really say about his play is he isn't a magnificent route runner, nor he is physical. But come on, that means nothing to me when you see everything else he does almost on a weekly basis.

Great players don't celebrate by spiking the ball on the one yard line before they've reached the end zone.

Right, and that one play, almost three years ago, destroys everything he has done since.

But as far as whether he is an a-hole or not for excessive celebration or doing what he did in Dallas on a long TD this past season, the guy is undeniably a GREAT player. 29 is ridiculous. Not saying 29 isn't great, but Jackson is better.

I don't think he's all that great. He's got incredible speed. What else?

It just goes to show how terrible the list is that Jackson can make the top 30 while Mike Wallace is completely left off it entirely. And while I can't stand the Steelers, Lawrence Timmons not making it is just another sign of how little the players pay attention to their peers.

I think when you make all those plays and change the game like that in just one second, it nullifies his downside.

Again, speed. Nothing more really. And yea, being a show boat to the degree that he is lessons his position IMO because an idiot like that doesn't deserve to be counted amongst a much more talented and humble role model like Larry Fitzgerald. But I digress. As I said, he's a slender little speed guy and that's all he is.

In terms of deep threats, Jackson and Wallace are as good as they come and it's just foolish for only one to be ranked.

As for Timmons, he's the only Steeler I genuinely like.
