That was random too, it seemed they were working on the entire East Coast and out of nowhere the whole state of California is lit up in Green.

They're making pretty good progress if they've gotten a sizeable portion of the country back up in the span of 4 hours. I think everyone will be back up by tomorrow night or early Monday.

I haven't gotten on yet since Delaware hasn't been restored, but I've been reading that the first thing that happens (aside from the mandatory firmware update) is that you're required to change your PSN password. If you're using a PS3 different from the one that you used to register your PSN account on, it'll send an email with a code to your registered email address that'll provide steps for verification before changing your password.

It's important to note that almost everything EXCEPT the PlayStation Store is being restored right now. The PlayStation Store will be rolled back out later in the week at the earliest.

EDIT- Delaware finally got restored and I managed to get in. Apparently, this outage has lasted 24 long days, according to the last time most of my friends were last online. As stated before, the first thing it does when you attempt to log in is have you change your password. Once that's been completed, everything works as usual except for the PlayStation Store.

The report is that the attacks were made from a server rented from Amazon, who of course refuse to comment.

Of Course, now that their name is out there and that it came from them they are going to stay quiet. If they say anything they will probably say we didn't know what they were going to do... etc.

I logged back in, downloaded the Software Update and changed my Password. Now PSN is up every where as the Map Update shows Green for all 50 states.

Confirmed of what we're getting. It's better than what I expected. You get your choice of 2 of the following five games for keeps and for free:

Dead Nation
inFAMOUS
LittleBigPlanet
Super Stardust HD
Wipeout HD + Fury


This is great for me since I haven't played inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, or any of these games for that matter. Along with this, existing PS Plus members get 60 days extra of PS Plus access(another win for me) and other Playstation users get 30 days.

I think, however, the promotion will only be limited to accounts created before the PSN outage. Otherwise, I would've followed your lead and tried signing up for a new account to cash in on that offer.

inFAMOUS is a fantastic game, if you don't have it that's definitely one to choose.

I'll probably grab LittleBigPlanet since I don't have that. Which of the other three is good?

Once you're done with RDR, pick up L.A. Noire!! Both games are AMAZING!!!!

L.A. Noire lives up to most of its pre-release hype. Of all the praise, the one comment I most agreed with was that L.A. Noire represents the same benchmark in gaming that Grand Theft Auto III did, particularly because of its method of storytelling and the technology behind the facial scanning.

I keep hearing L.A. Noire is really good so I'll definitely look into it after RDR and the other games I'm playing.
