Pain - 2Pac ft. Stretch
I have most of the lyrics to that song memorized. Heavily underrated track. The delivery by 2Pac in the third verse is one of the most intense performances I've heard on any hip-hop record. So much raw emotion.

Agreed. Above the Rim introduced me to the song and I loved the instrumental. Once I listened to it in full, I got a new appreciation for Pac.

DJ Quik is the man. His work on the Nike Hyperizers commercial was great, as always.

I can't narrow it down to one but here are ten I love:

Definition - Black Star
Travellin' Man - Mos Def
Fancy Clown - Madvillain
Rap Snitch Knishes - DOOM ft. Mr.Fantastik
The Format - AZ
Trains & Planes - Zion I & The Grouch
Empire Soundtrack - Lupe Fiasco
Pain - 2Pac ft. Stretch
Exhibit C - Jay Electronica
Hell Yeah - Dead Prez
Absolutely love this song...

And I found another instrumental, which I'm just in love with. This is one of my favorite songs with an awesome instrumental. A classic...

Youtube - Still D.R.E - Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg

Great tracks. I feel the latter two are somewhat underrated compared to other songs that were on those albums.

Somebody who flys under the radar when it comes to beats is Black Milk from Detroit. Some of his production is crazy! One of my all-time favourite producers is DJ Quik. I just love that West Coast G-Funk sound.
The Detroit music scene as a whole is probably my favorite right now. Elzhi, Royce Da 5'9", Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, etc. BTW, if you like Black Milk then look out for the Random Axe project that he's doing with Sean Price and Guilty Simpson which should be dropping soon.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to the Random Axe album. I like the first single they released from it recently!

I was introduced Elzhi late last year. The Preface was a pretty good album.

I agree, it was in heavy rotation on my iPod when it was released. The entire album was produced by Black Milk too. My favourite track is probably Motown 25 ft. Royce Da 5'9"!

That's where I remember Black Milk's name from. I saw you guys talking about him and knew I had seen the name before but couldn't remember where. Can you recommend an album of his?

I like "Motown 25" but "Save Ya" is my favorite song from the album.

I like all of his albums but my personal favourite is Tronic so I'd definitely recommend that one.

Personally, "The Preface" is one of my favorite albums that's come out in the past few years. Black Milk nailed the production and Elzhi's flow is insane on the whole thing.

If you wanna hear more Elzhi though, he's set to drop his "Elmatic" mixtape pretty soon. For those that don't know, he's putting his own take on Nas' "Illmatic" songs for the mixtape so I can't wait to hear it.

That's just sad. Apparently, Waka Flocka will be playing Raheem. Link

I definitely won't watch it.

Sounds very interesting. Thanks a lot for the heads up. I can't wait to hear his versions of "Halftime", "It Ain't Hard to Tell", "Life's a..." and "NY State of Mind".
