Opening The 2011 Season At M&T Bank Stadium Vs. The Steelers!

29 posts in this topic

The Ravens schedule has been released, and if we aren't eager enough for some football, the Ravens open up against the Steelers, in M&T Bank Stadium on Sept. 11. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am eager as heck for some football!!!

I really shouldnt be excited. I am trying not to be.

Wouldnt that be a freaking sweet way to start off the season with a win over pitts-burgh?

(or a crappy way to start) Jeez, I hate this...

The Ravens get hosed again with the schedule.
One freaking MNF? And its AWAY?? At Jacksonville???

One PrimeTime home game, ONE???
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about the turkey day brotherly rivalry, but it is the Thursday LATE game. It's on NFL Network only - not exactly nationwide Primetime.

I really thought Biscotti would have more pull than that when he lobbied for a home MNF game. This will only be the FOURTH year in a row without one.

Sham, a real sham!

IF there's football, what a way to set the tone for the rest of the Season. Lose and there will be nothing but fist pounding, hand ringing, second guessing and maybe even some tears, for the rest of the season. Win and there will be...oh who am I kidding, there will still be fist pounding, hand ringing and second guessing, but hopefully not tears, unless their for joy of course. (figures crossed)
But I won't get excited till I know there is football.

I'm moving to NJ, I can't imagine what it will be like not to be surrounded by people in purple on Fridays (or pretty much any other day of the week). Having to find a bar that is playing the game, not seeing Ray Rice commercials, (by the way, did anyone else see Suggs on TMZ?). *sigh*

Two primetime home games. Jets and 49ers.

You do realize that SNF is now the showcase game, right? And we have three of them, a shocker since they only ever show NFC East games.

Besides, MNF games throw you off the next week. The only games we'll be thrown off for are Arizona the next week (easy W) and the Thanksgiving game (which actually works to our advantage because it's at home and Frisco has to fly across the country on three days' rest).

Also, our first Thanksgiving game ever, which is great because it's actually impossible for us to ever play Detroit or Dallas in one.

Yay? Not too thrilled about facing a team opening weekend that Joe and Harbs have yet to beat when Big Ben is at the helm.

hopefully, they will be balling again in the NFL cause i plan on being at that season opener against the Steelers. what a way for the Ravens to not only start their season, by smacking the Steelers in the mouth by giving them a loss and to send a message to the rest of the division and the league that the Ravens mean business this season! awesome!

I actually like opening at Home vs the Steelers. If we lose it's not the end of the world because it is only one game. But, man, if we win. What a shot in the arm for us! Flacco's first win vs Big Ben. That would be an awesome start for the season.

I am excited, but Cautious until I know whats going on for sure with this CBA crap. The game wont be make or break, but really we need a win Wk #1. We have 2 back to back away games after that. It would be great if we can win it, Joe and Harbs first win with big ben at the helm should calm many fans nerves and give us some great momentum. But if we were to loose, it would be a major downer to the start of the season. I Have a Gut feeling, We Will WIN ! Joe will get that first big WIN and then we can take care of bussiness the rest of the year. First down = Big Ben ... Next up The Sheriff (Peyton manning). GULP !

I'll be excited when I know for sure that they're actually going to play these games.

Besides that, I really can't get anymore excited about this game than I would a game against the Colts because I'd prefer it if Baltimore started their season with a win rather than continue their losing ways against Ben and company (unless of course he has another unfortunate off-season adventure.)

Well, he's apparently "settled down" and gotten married, so I'm sure she'll have him on a ball and chain lol.

Whoever designed the schedule (with the help of Roger Goodell) is a smart man. 8 Rivalry games in Week 1. That should get the players yearning to come back.

In terms of the rivalry and everything, there's no better way to start a season. However, I just hope that we can make it through the game, win or lose, without any major injuries. We all know that Ravens vs. Steelers is like the NFL equivalent to UFC fights (just ask Big Ben why his nose looks even more messed up nowadays lol) so hopefully both teams won't beat on each other too bad.

Maybe this lock-out mess has put me in a more pessimistic mood than usual, but I see this as being a great way to start the season... for the Steelers. Pound on your biggest rival and show them who still owns the division. Of course, if Baltimore does manage to get that monkey off their back, they'll be the ones with the momentum.

I'm with you. Until proven otherwise, Big Ben owns us, and specifically Harbs. Should we drop that game at home, you can almost hand them the division because we also haven't proven that we can beat them in Pittsburgh in a night game. It's sad but true.

Okay I understand the fact that there is no football, and it doesnt look like it is going to change too soon, but it's exciting to kick off the season (pun intended) against the Steelers, our biggest rivals in football. As the song says, its the "eye of the tiger, its the thrill of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our rivals."

Like everyone else, I will be excited if we get the news there will be a season this year. Other than that, I am a little disappointed that its not an MNF game.
