2011 Ravens Schedule

144 posts in this topic

I was a little disappointed when I first heard that we had the Steelers week one, but then I thought of the positives that can come out of beating them week one. Others have already mentioned them like having one up on them, the momentum, and all that. The schedule has made me more excited for the season. The Thanksgiving game is really exciting because of the historical significance and because the Thanksgiving games usually aren't that entertaining, to me at least. I can't make predictions yet, not until a few preseason games, but I will say that I think we'll do better this year. If there is one.

For the people who are attending the Chargers game, you guys are lucky.

why dont we EVER get a stinking MNF game at home?? we have to go to jacksonville so they can cover up their whole upper deck to sell out the stadium, terrible sports city, florida is for old people, and college football, not nfl

LOL Boh. It's okay man. This time there will be a Jimmy Smith on the Ravens and he's going to embarrass their QB, whether it's Gabbert or someone else.

Edit: Another great thing about our schedule is the Rams. I don't look forward to playing against Robert Quinn, but I'm looking for revenge against them after they embarrassed us in that pre-season game since we used our 2nd and 3rd strings all game. Have fun throwing against the likes of Jimmy Smith and Ed Reed, Bradford.

The Patriots play both the Steelers and the Colts the week before we play those teams. I like that. Also the Jets have to fly to Oaklank the week before visiting Baltimore. Can you say Jet-Lag.

Cant wait for the Jets-I used to like Rex Ryan but hes become such a media darling-cant wait to kick their overated arse!

I remember a few seasons ago when the Ravens complained about playing prime time games at Pittsburgh (3 out of 4 seasons I believe). Which brings to mind a question. Haven't the last 3 Steelers @ Ravens matchups been in primetime?

I agree. When Rex 1st left, I liked the Jets. But after the smack he and Bart Scott have been talkin about the Ravens, I have quickly changed my mind. I cant stand how the 2 talk down on the Ravens organization and act like the Jets are so much better. For the record BOTH of them wanted to stay with the Ravens, but Harbaugh was picked over Rex, and Ray and T-Sizzle were kept and Scott was odd man out. The only reason either of them are Jets is because the Ravens said bye, not the other way around.

Bisciotti asked the league to schedule us as the primetime a few times to balance it out. This year the primetime game is back at Pitt.

Wow we have a pretty easy schedule this year. Some of the teams we play didn't even have a winning record last year. Also a lot of those teams have a lot of questions that need to be answered before camp. This year should be really good leading us to our 4th year in a row to playoffs

And those same teams with losing records could easily have the better records this year. A lot of those teams lost several games by like a TD or a field goal (Rams,Lions,etc..) so just throwing that out there so don't buy into last season records too much but you are right in a sense seeing we face the NFC West this year that for years has been one of the weakest divisions.

Pittsburgh and the Jets will be tough and you never know when the Chargers will get hot-New England and the Colts I think are on the downslide

I agree that INDY is definitely losing their edge. Without a rushing attack, Peyton is being forced to win games single handedly, however his O-line isn't as formidable as it once was. Their defence is meh as well. The patriots; however, are far from a downslide...they're front office is incredible they keep their stocked with first round talent, and then they sign UDFA's that are better than most teams first round selections. HATE THE PATRIOTS!

In fairness to Indy, they did just use their first two picks on Castonzo and Ijalana. They don't underestimate the importance of keeping Peyton healthy because, like you said, they would struggle to be even a mediocre team with Painter at the helm.

if we beat the steelers then were going 7-0.the only game that could be close is the jets game but thats at home so we should win by atleast 10.then if we sweep the steelers then were definatly the #1 seed.

I hate the fact that we are playing the Steelers week 1 and 9. What makes the rivalry so great is that the games are always physical, intense, and meaningful. I think Week 1, especially at home, is the wrong week to play such a meaningful game.

I say the Steelers hate that game the most. They will still be riding the high of coming back beating us in the playoffgame and what better way than to play them at our house and beat them for the first game of the season and who knows what they win can do for the confidence of our team and its a slim chance that it could affect the Steelers in a negative way for their first half of the season games.

I absolutely love we are facing them at home for the first game of the season, anything else would be........uncivilized!

Unlike last season, our toughest games in the first quarter of the season are at home. The Steelers and the Jets.

If the Ravens can defend homefield vs the Steelers, which lets face it, we should have done each time over the last 3 years, then that'll set the Ravens up in position to go 4-0 heading into the bye.

After that Steelers game, we travel to TEN, can't see them beating us with their shaky QB situation. They'll either be starting a rookie, some other young QB or a vet who doesn't really know the offense. Either way, the defense should be good enough to handle Chris Johnson and Kenny Britt(if he's not suspended) without a quality QB under center.

In week 3, we travel to ST. Louis and play a up and coming Rams team. Even though the Rams have a lot of talent and should be better this year, the Ravens usually do really well vs this young up and coming teams. If the Ravens are who we think they are, they should handle the Rams.

Then it's on to the Jets. We all know that will be a tough game. Even if the Jets were a terrible team, Rex will have them ready to come back to Baltimore and prove the Ravens wrong for not naming him Head Coach. After playing what should be 3 physical games in the first 4 weeks the Ravens will need that week 4 bye.

After the bye, we have HOU, who we've had success with the last 3 years. Jax who might be looking to play their first rookie selection at QB by that time. Then we have ARI coming to Baltimore. The Ravens could really build some momentum going into that week 9 matchup with the Steelers.

Our first two division games are against the Steelers this year. If the Ravens can find a way to win in week 1 and week 9, that would really set them up to not only sweep the division, but ensure a home playoff game for the first time in 4 years.

I really like how the schedule played out this year, and I love playing the Steelers in week one. Even though it won't be in a playoff type, division on the line game, what better way for Flacco and the Ravens to put the NFL on notice, then to beat up on the Steelers in game one?

great schedule. last year we got <hit hard> with those tough early road games. all of our home games were so easy, buffalo, miami, tampa, denver, browns, bengals. and all the road games were tough, jets, pats, steelers, falcons. good job NFL
Yup last year was a kick in the shorts schedule wise however out of those hard road games we won 2 out of 4 and the two lost we only lost by 3 points to NE and then 5 to Atlanted (still think they should have called white for pass interferance!!!) any way yup this year I like our schedule NFC West is not the toughest opponant so maybe we will not get so beat up fo rthe post season either! Also the AFC Central does not exactly scare me to bad either. Indy will be coming to town to I we better smoke those losers this year.

It's actually the AFC South and you are correct there isn't much to fear there.

They won't be easy opponents by any stretch of the imagination, but the Ravens should have success vs that division.

The toughest 2 games should be the Texans and Colts and both are at home. We play the Texans in week 6 after our bye week and the Colts in week 14 after they play the Patriots. So if there is any advantage to be gain in either situation the Ravens should have it.

I wouldn't call the Jets a tough game. The only reason it was close last season was because the offense started the season off slow. Mark Sanchez also hasn't played Ed yet. If they openup the offense Ed will get him. If they do what they did last year we'll win again. Mark Sanchez is like "fool gold". He plays well in 1 game and horrific the next. As long as we have Ed and Sanchez continues to play like fools gold, the Jets are a cakewalk in my book. I'm not saying the game won't be physical, but I don't see them really as competition.

Heading to next season I'm very optimistic. We have a long road ahead, but the season will more then likely end with us at the top of AFC North or the second seed. The second seed will give get us into the Playoffs with a bye....
