2011 Ravens Schedule

144 posts in this topic

I'll say what no one is else is saying, looks like the NFL finally gave us a powder puff schedule! This schedule is leaps and bounds easier than last years. Patience is rewarded I guess, maybe the NFL is finally beginning to take a liking to us since Harbaugh tightened the reigns. Thanksgiving is awesome as well. Thanks NFL.

VERY favorable schedule matching up with the NFC West and AFC South. We win the division, we have a great chance at a #1 seed because the Colts and Pats have much harder schedules. The biggest difference between our schedule and Pitt is they have to play the Colts and Pats whereas we only have to play the Colts and thats home in December. Pitt is at Colts in Week 3, after which they will be 1-2, we will be 3-0.

As much as I would like to find fault I can't really find any with the schedule (that is without being petty). I like it. I love the Thanksgiving day game! I'm going to go out on a limb and boldly predict a 14-2 year.

Schedule side note: Adam Rank of NFL.com said that the Browns vs Steelers game in the final week will determine the AFC North........PLEASE! Talk about pulling garbage out of your....hat.

Yep, Looks like a trip to the big game folks for our fellas in purple and black!

GO RAVENS!

To be fair, it did last season. If the Browns had beaten the Steelers in Week 17, the Ravens would have won the AFCN.

To be fair, though, that game could have implications to determine the AFC North: that game could be a tiebreaker for any of the four AFC North teams if there's identical division records at the end of the year.

EDIT- And berad beat me to it. Dang!

The bad thing about playing the Steelers is we will probably be without our OL coach Andy Moeller. Rumor is that he will be suspended at least 1 game for his DUI.

Yeah that could be a bad coaching loss. But at least we kind of know what to expect from Pittsburgh.

since the Ravens organization is sooo bent on not drafting or signing players with "off-the-field" issues, they need to hold the coaching staff to that same standard.

I love starting the season at Home vs the Steelers. It'll be a championship style game and win or lose there is still a long season to recover from the physical nature of that game. Not wanting to face the Steelers week one is a losers mentality to me. Why face a lesser team to build confidence? If we are the team we want to be and the team that we want people to believe we are, then the Ravens will set the tone of the season by outplaying the Steelers like they have for much of the last 2 seasons, but this time just don't blow the game late.

I actually love the week 5 bye. Why? because the Thanksgiving Thursday Night game will actually serve as a mini bye week because we'll have about 10 days between games, late in the season. Coming off our Bye, we'll have the Texans who offensively we've had much success against them 2 of the last 3 seasons. Followed by favorable games against the Jags and Cardinals imo. The Ravens will need that mini bye because they'll have that long trip to SEA, followed by what should be a tough home game vs the Bengals, leading up to a short week to play the 9ers. The 49ers first 4 road games before the Ravens are in Cincy, Philly, Detroit and Washington, those are some pretty long trips, so they might be a worn down team traveling to Baltimore on a short week.

Coming off that mini bye week we'll have the Browns, Colts, and Chargers before finishing up with 2 division game with Cincy and Cle.

As many others have said, this appears to be a favorable and balanced schedule for the Ravens. I hope they take full advantage of it.

Love the schedule, very favorable for the Ravens if we can have a good offseason, strengthening the weak points of last years team. I say bring the steelers on week 1. What a great opportunity to start the season off 1 up on them and force the rest of the division to hold serve for a change. I'm also loving hosting Indy in december, this could finally be the year we take it to them once and for all...lets hope it's a cold wet day for manning. Other than indy and pit there aren't many games that scare me other than @ seattle. The ravens should be the far superior team, but its a long trip and an extremely loud stadium.

Reguardless of the schedule, the ravens ABSOLUTELY must take care of business in the division. We can't fall on our faces and lose sloppily played games to an inferior team like cincy, or the browns who have been playing the ravens very tough as of late. Two horrible losses to the steelers and bengals are what ultimately cost us the division, a first round bye and the 1 seed in the playoffs last year

I am seeing a 13-3 record at the end of the season with losses going to the Jets, @ Pitt, and Indy.

I see us losing to the Chargers ( our cbs match up terrilbly with the basketball built WRs of the Chargers with the jump balls Rivers throws up )........ I want to say one to the Steelers but I feel we will sweep them as we should have done two years ago........I feel we finally beat the Colts getting the monkey off of our backs.........Jets with Sanchez at QB, hard for me to see them beating us with him at QB....... I seriously have us going like 15-1 or 14-2..

I think this Ravens team is good enough to be any team in the NFL, however, right now there is now way of knowing how well the oline will bounce back, I would love to see leRon retained as a backup RB and not a FB but there's no way of knowing what our running game will look like.

With the schedule we have, we could definitely go 15-1, but when you consider that last season the Ravens were the only team in the entire NFL to hold a lead in the 4th quarter of every game last season, and still managed to lose some heartbreakers, it's hard for me to see this team going 15-1 unless they get their late game management improved.

When you're sitting on a lead, pounding the rock is usually the way to finish the game on offense. Opposing offenses take to the air when they're down late and outside of shutdown coverage(which most defenses don't have), putting heat on the QB is the best way to put an end to rally attempts.

It's no surprise the Ravens struggled to close games out last season with both their rushing average and sack totals ranking in the bottom third of the league.

I have confidence both issues will be solved in terms of player personnel this off-season but I doubt the team goes 15-1 though.

Yea you're absolutely correct. I think we'll improve this year if not for the simple fact that our rushing game wasn't as poor as it showed last season. I was hard on Oher all season, but i think even he'll do better at LT if needed to play there.

However 15-1 is really tough. But like i said, i think the Ravens can beat any team in the NFL, and i expect much bigger things from Flacco, the passing offense and Rice in the running game. I think we'll see guys like Dickson, Pitta, Reed, and whatever speed guy we draft used more this year. Flacco will throw for close to 4300, 35 TDs and about 7 ints. I'm just as excited as everyone else, so if a guy thinks we'll go 15-1 who am i to rain on the purple parade?

I agree 100% with your assessment, but the reason I pick a win for that game is because I am going to that one and the Ravens are 20-2 on games I have attended. :)

Ed Reed would have to stay home in that game , I would say gamble maybe 30-40% that game and stay at home the other 70-60%. Of course, got to be looking out for Gates working the middle ( Ed Reed ), just a hard matchup period with the Chargers. If we get us another pass rusher I will feel a lot better about the game b/c most times we could just rush 4 with 7 in coverage.

Pitts schedule looks good for them as well. I see another neck and neck run for the two teams.

Agreed! Looking back on the games that the Ravens lost, and games that they managed to win while surrendering a 4th quarter lead at some point, if the Ravens were able to run the ball like in years past at least two of those games AND the playoff loss are probably wins. The Ravens offense just didn't have the ability to go out and grind out long drives late in games to seal a win. Some blame Cam Cameron, but I blame the Oline and Rice/Mcgahee/Mclain. I think that if there was confidence that the Ravens could pick up some of those 3rd and 4th and shorts on the ground that they would have instead of throwing the ball in those situations. Against Pittsburgh, it is CRUCIAL as we all saw twice when we just couldn't slam the door on them and wound up turning the ball over on passing plays.

Meh' The last time the Ravens were in San Diego I was out there for the whole weekend wearing Ravens jerseys. I wore my Ray Lewis to the game. Every one around town and at the game was completely respectful. No worries at all.

I agree.....we were out there a few years back for the Charger/Raven game and everyone was very hospitable and no signs of "Eagles" type fans from what I saw.
