oh nooo.. i get it... ive seen some ravens game...I know you guys have that same problems... Offensive weapon wise... You guys have the weapons to spread the steelers out and pick them apart...
I doubt some of those weapons will be back next season so we'll see what happens. What I would do to get Roddy on this team.

yea... dude is Awesome no doubt ...One of the best in the league.... They (steelers) just kept a safety over the top of him all game... You are not going to beat the steelers with one great WR tho... You have to spread them out and pick them apart (some call it dink and donk) and let your WR's gain yac yards.

I have a off the subject question... What happen to Mark Clayton as a Raven ? Was dude always hurt or was he just a bust as a Raven.

I ask because Rams fans are very high on him... Dude was looking really good before his injury (potential 1000 yard season) ..

Various injuries, mostly below-average QB play, an offensive system where he wasn't a focal point and inconsistent play on his part are reasons he didn't pan out in Baltimore.

Don't understand why this is even a convo. Let Greatness give you the lessons and you cats take the notes. *Ahem*

1) Flacco has better overall numbers in almost all categories than Ryan

2) Flacco has done this with a frauded Offensive Cordinator and being handcuffed

3) Flacco plays in the AFC North which is home to the Super Bowl Champs 2 out of the last 4 years

4) Flacco has been sacked twice as much as Ryan

Don't understand how there is even a debate. Flacco is the man and it's not even close. Sure Ryan had a feel good story bringing the Falcons back to respectability, but don't let the smooth taste fool you... he's not Joe Cool.

Ok class! What have we learned today?

"Joe Flacco is the man and Matt Ryan is living off hype."

I agreed fully with everything that you said until this bit. As much as I would choose Flacco over Ryan, to say Ryan is living off hype is a little far. He has lived up to his hype, I would say, but living off of it would be discrediting the fact that he has proven himself to be their franchise QB. As has Flacco for us.

While I would agree that Ryan has proven he is the Falcons' Franchise QB, I would not go so far as to say he has "lived up to his hype". This is a QB that went to the Pro Bowl over Rodgers. In no way was that earned. Nor did he live up to that in his performance.

Flacco has outperformed Ryan up to this point and done so in a much tougher defensive division. And yes, playing half your games indoors does affect your ability to put up numbers. Let's face it, indoors is much more favorable to a good passing game.

Now, this does not mean Ryan is a crap QB. Only that he is not yet deserving of all the media love he garners right now and that Flacco has outperformed him to this point.

I like the Falcons and Ryan. I just hate to see ANY player hyped up in the media when they've not earned all the hype.

Matt Ryan had a probowl season... If anything.. It was brees who shouldnt have made it... I just dont get how you can say the guy didnt earn his probowl votes

I also dont get all this hype you guys are talking about.. At the begging of the season... The media was saying Matt Ryan took a step back /disappointing after the 1st freakin game...lol

I love discussing this Matt Ryan vs Flacco subject because its valid points on both sides... What i hate is when someone have to try to downplay a guy production to make the other guy look better.

Did Matt Ryan come in the NFL with more hype then Flacco... Ofcourse... One was a 3rd over all pick and the other guy was the 18th pick... The high pick will have more hype.... But to say Matt Ryan hasnt lived up to it is crazy.

I feel like you guys feel like Matt Ryan is over hyped because Flacco doesnt receive as much hype... But as long as Ray Lewis is the leader of that D or you guys are carrying 4 every year probowlers on your team... It will be known as their team... Its not fair because if Matt Ryan was there it would be the same way (Known as Ray team) .. But it is what it is.

Since day 1... Our team has been on Ryans shoulder and dude has produced... He has to continue to improve and get over this playoff hump.

Ryan didn't earn his Pro Bowl selection because Rodgers had a better regular season than him. As for Brees, even with the interceptions he threw, being third in the league in passing yards and second in touchdowns cements you as a legitimate Pro Bowlers.

But that was just after one week. As the season wore on, the hype train surrounding the Falcons got rolling again. It was deserved to an extent but just became ridiculous at times. The Ravens/Falcons game comes to mind. Theismann's praise for Ryan was just creepy.

Theismann's praise for Ryan has become an in-joke with my father and me. Any time anyone does anything well, ever, it's never as good as Matt Ryan would've done it.

I disagree... Someone who deserved to make the probowl was going to get left off... Matt Ryan deserved to make the probowl... I'm not saying this as a falcon fan... Im saying this just as fan

Rodgers is my 2nd fav QB so i get it... He had a probowl season.

I felt like Ryan and Rodgers deserved to make it to the probowl.

If Matt Ryan didnt make the probowl.. I would have felt he was snubbed but that was going to happen this year with Vick busting on the scene.

Fair enough, I agree that Ryan's hype takes him to a level of 'eliteness' which you couldn't justify yet. I still think that the difference between him and Joe is minimal however. Just to clarify, I would take Joe when given the option.

I was referring to the vote. The fans voted Ryan to the Pro Bowl over Rodgers, which was a joke to me considering Rodgers had a better statistical season.

actually it was the players and coaches (their peers)... As i remember it.. Vick was the run away 1st place QB in fan voting.. Brees in 2nd, Rodgers in 3rd, and Ryan in 4th place

After the player's and coach's vote... Matt Ryan was the NFC 2nd QB

My mistake; it wasn't solely the fans that voted Ryan to the Pro Bowl. Even with the players and coaches voting though, I still don't believe Ryan deserved to be voted in ahead of Rodgers.

That Rodgers outperformed Ryan on the field but was snubbed by his peers validates the claims people have made about the hype surrounding Matty Ice.

I never said players and coaches over-hype Ryan. To me, they bought into the media's hype by voting him over a more deserving player.

Since players and coaches have 2/3rds of the pro-bowl votes then you have to wonder...

Besides that, John Harbaugh regularly calls Carson Palmer one of the "elite quarterbacks in the league." Unless "elite" now means top 20, I'd say that he's over hyping him.

John Gruden may not be an active coach, but if his attitude is anything to go off of (and granted, it might not be) then the sky is the limit for hype. :P

You're right though, Ryan did go to the pro-bowl, just like David Garrard. ;)

Lol.. ill give it to you.... you tried your hardest to sell that... Garrard was a alternate... The 3 original QB's had to drop out the probowl for Garrard to make it... COME ON NOW...lol.. Did Harbaugh vote for Carson ? ... Thats just Coach speak...

That was good tho... lol.. I cant lie

I cant believe Matt Ryan cant just get his due respect... Doesnt mean u like him over Flacco...

I had to +1 you for that one tho

I see what you are saying, I believe it was more about the Flacons home record and overall record with the players. I mean lets be honest, unless you're playing the Falcons that week, or they're playing a national TV game, how much do the players get to watch Falcons games?

Ryan led his team to the best record in the NFC, and an unbelievable homefield record, and the players/coaches have a lot of respect for that.

For anyone who's upset or just doesn't think Ryan deserved his Pro-Bowl honor, get used to it, because it'll happen often in the QB watered down NFC. It's just how it is. Had Ryan been in the AFC he probably wouldn't have come close to the pro bowl and i know that'll make any Falcons fan or Ryan supporter upset, but facts are facts.

I think 90% of the posters involved in this little debate have given Ryan his just due respect, i think the problem is that, any negative thing that's said about Ryan you take it as disrespect or someone hating Ryan.

It was mentioned how Ryan doesn't have many impressive road comeback wins, or even just him coming up big in games on the road that his team had to win, and you point out one game. As if someone said he was a poor QB because of this fact and that one game would prove other wise.

Someone says Ryan gets a lot of media love and you try to show points when they rightfully talked bad about him for....well playing bad. Dude, Todd McShay actually said Matt Ryan was a Hall of Fame QB before the guy even took a snap in the NFL. If that isn't overhyped in itself i don't know what is.

The NFL Network and Espn are quick to call Matt Ryan a young elite QB. Now doesn't this make Ryan a poor QB? no, it just gets under the skin of some fans outside of the ATL because honestly Ryan hasn't done anything. When people say he's overhyped it's more of a bad thing about the media then Ryan.
