I did not write this, but I edited it a little bit...

I'm from MARYLAND. We're not from the South, nor do we have an accent. We're also not New England -- we're the Mid-Atlantic. We are NOT hicks. We have skiing out west, farm country to the north, the ocean to the east, and suburbs all over.

I'll take a soda, not a pop, with my sub, not hoagie. I drink water not "wooder." It's pizza, not pie. It

We love crabs, corn, and beer. We can take apart a crab like a surgeon and Old Bay goes with everything. We know what bad traffic really looks like, how to use a traffic circle, navigate a beltway, and how to pump our own gas.

All of the stuff I quoted there is pretty much the same for Delaware.

Even though some people from Southern Delaware mess it all up for us Northern folks...lol.

(Not gonna lie, though, I use some Southern slang and occasionally have a Southern twang in my voice...)

Perhaps the only thing I picked up and still carry with me 47 years later from my fathers Highlandtown heritage is the inability to say "water" correctly in a fast moving conversation...oh well...I am my father's child LOL

I say "Murrland," too...lol. I can't help it, and I didn't even go to school in Maryland...

Well, I'm glad I'm able to say "water" correctly, as well as "creek" (what the hell is a CRICK??? lol)...and I don't think I've ever referred to a soda as a pop, but I know people look at me weird when I talk about getting a water ice...

We scream "O!" in the national anthem, no matter where we are.

I've really gotten into the Olympics this year and every time I see Phelps up there getting his gold I just gotta wonder if he's thinking "O" when the anthem plays

Apparently he's more happy getting the signed Ravens jersey than all the gold medals he's won!

I do kinda miss living in MD but I could not take the Cumberland area anylonger, the Job market is atrocious and that is being nice. I miss the scenery but honestly considering how things were in that place I am better off here. Not to mention while my wife is not from Pittsburgh she and I to a degree are tired of moving around we need to settle down if only for a few years. I loved that nearly every part of my Homestate had something beautiful about it in some fashion, but having traveled and lived in alot of places now I know that all states have something to offer.

Old bay does go with everything now if I could just get my wife to realize this!!!

I'm from southern Harford County and I say things like "Murrland" and "Baldimore" and "wooter." My family also says "dee" instead of "day" for example "Mondee, Tuesdee, etc." I went to a Nationals/Orioles game this past season down in DC and I swear there were more Orioles fans there than Nats fans, which makes me think that there are no such thing as Nationals fans (and yes during the national anthem, the stadium did go "O!!")
I hate people who refer to Westminster as Westminister.

THERE'S ONLY ONE "I"!!!
We have a Wesminster in England. No one pronounces it wrong though. I guess we're just a class up, intellectually. :P

My husband is from a little town, and I mean little, called Ellerslie. My grandfather used to used "zinc" for sink. To me zinc is an element or metal that goes on a rudder of a boat.

You mean like Rita's?
When i moved to missouri and talked about water ice...
They thought I was talking about water with ice in it.
they were like, "They have places that specialize in that?"
One thing i miss...Rita's water ice... and grottos pizza.
