Coach Cam's New Offensive Look

90 posts in this topic

Personally, I did not recognize this team as Boller was out there slinging the ball over the middle for, gulp, 20 yards (wow)! Not to mention a lot of RB screens, etc. that kept the Pats D on their heels. Oh, and did I mention we were actually spreading the field with DEEEEP routes? I am VERY excited to see this offense with all of our number ones, I mean look at who WASN'T there: HEEEEEEEEEEEEAP, McGahee, 2 starters on the O-Line, Clayton, Demetrius, Wilcox. There may be more, but that alone shows me that this offense is going to be something special this season.

I think it was a pretty good game, overall. Obviously we need to improve in some areas, but I'm still very excited about the upcoming season. We all know our defense will continue to be dominant, but our offense might just do something, as well.

If Willis was in shape and not looking like hes been eating at Goose's place then the run game would be pumping from day one.

I'm Excited. We still have McGahee, Clayton, D.Williams, Heap, Gaither, and Terry yet to take the field. For a minute there I didn't know if somebody was trying to play a joke on me cuz it actually looks like the Ravens might have an offense this year. The screens were brilliant! The 3 step pass for Boller was Brilliant!

Cam Cameron is exactly what Baltimore needed. Coach Harb is exactly what Baltimore needed. Did you see how on each play all 3 qb's found the clock. And for the most part there wasnt a ton of stupid penalties.

The tempo of the offense is definitely one of the biggest improvements. Hopefully we'll have more of our starters on the field when we play the Vikings next Saturday.

The Offense looked great, save the OL. They were getting beat down on nearly every play, running or passing; it was hard to watch.

Joe Flacco didn't have a pocket for more than about 1/2 a second. It was ridiculous.

Yeah, that was another great thing about last night: No stupid delay of game penalties on offense or the kicking unit. What a breath of fresh air that was!

P.S. Sam Koch launched some punts last night and is looking really good as another defensive weapon to pin opposing offenses deep in their own territory.

We need a offensive line.

Gotta win in the trenches first.

If the offense doese not turn the ball over, the ravens will be fine.

It was pretty refreshing to see this new offensive system. Im really excited to see how it will playout when we get our regular offensive weapons back in the game. I guess this means no more screen passes on 3rd & 9

Actually, a well-designed and executed screen pass on 3rd and 9 could gain big-time yards. What we won't see on 3rd and 9 anymore are 4 yard hitch routes.

It wont matter who starts if we cant keep the pass-rushers out of the pocket for more than half a second.

Yeah as soon as Flacco got the ball the pocket collapsed on him!

Yup, which is why I'm even more confident then b4 that Troy will be our starter. Did you see the play where the pocket broke down for Boller and he took off and fumbled the ball? Now almost in the exact same situation the Pocket broke down for Troy he stepped up to run and then dumped the ball off at the last second avoiding the sack, gaining positive yards and he didn't FUMBLE. The plays looked almost identical, just with a different outcome.

Troy last night showed he wanted to WIN, I didn't see the same attitude from Boller. Once he threw the interception and the camera zoomed in on him talking with cameron on the sideline, I knew we weren't gonna see a new Boller cuz he did that same shoulder shrug like "iono what happened wasn't my fault, uh?".

Maybe Chris Chester should just hit the gym and put on 40lb. He cant pick up linebackers anyway.

Do you guys think we're just going to sit on our current o-line? SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.

I loved the new look of our offense. It had a great pace which is what we need. I think the pace will keep defenses thinking more and not just looking for the old way of run run pass.

Just because TS can get out of the pocket dosent mean squat if He cant get the ball to His recievers, I thought Boller played Very well, That INT was Horrable though, A fumble is bound to happen when 3rd string Lineman is playing and 4 defensive guys jump on the QB. Boller was 11-15 ( 2 were drops from recievers ) for 102 yards In 2 QtRs playing againts a little over half of NE starting D.Also mind you that our starting offense has less then half of it's projected starters in.

Troy Smith was 5-12 for 74 yards in a QtR plus part of the 4th. Overall I thought He played O.K.,He looked FAST!

Chris Chester is a SCRUB. I agree something has to be done on the line. My first thoughts in the 2nd half was ozzie needs to get on the phones and bring some new faces into training camp. Chester needs to get cut. He plays to soft to be taking up a roster spot this year.

The protection for Kyle seemed ALOT better than it did for Troy and Flac, especially the PAs. They bought enough time for Kyle to hit Mason and Yamon for big gains. When Troy stepped in it looked like the pocket kept collapsing and he had no time to do what he wanted. And for Flacco... what pocket? Thats exactly why we can't start Flacco he had no chance, no quarterback could have performed under those circumstances.

Was a little disapointed in Ray rice only getting like 2 ypc was expecting more of him but hopefulyl his numbers will rise once McGahee comes back in.

I thought Mason was awesome the first series or two he played (then came out). And Yamon? whew he's looking good, even caught a pass or two. Would've been nice if he caught that deep post pattern but the ball was a little underthrown and he had to stop running allowing the CB to catch up and break up the pass. Hopefully he turns out to be that sick downfield threat we've been looking for, or at least stretch the field. I'll talk about how sick our ST will be in a different thread but ga dayum am I excited for that.

Looked like some of our rookie recievers made rookie mistakes. The ex skins reciever (foregot his name) would have a clutch catch downfield if he would have just dragged his back foot. I think Marcus Smith and Harper dropped a couple that hit them in the numbers.

All in all I am STOKED for our starters to come in

I'd say the O-fense looked impressive overall considering this was just the first preseason game. Boller made some good throws but if the pocket collapses he's done, and a good chance he fumbles. I know Smith was maybe trying too hard to impress, did u see him dive and catch that throw that sailed out of bounds? Anyway I can't wait to see how well he does against Min. as the starter. Our team will continue to improve in the games to come!

Thats true, when Boller started the pocket did well. Kracalik did better than I thought he would, mauled really well, had a few nice pancakes and he can handle the bullrush, remains to be seen how he copes with speed but Matsko is really moulding him. Slaughter did ok against Seymours bullrush but looks a little slow out of stance.

Let's all just wait until Cam has all his weapons.

See if we can get Peters for less.

Save Suggs for the Boldin deal :D:P:lol:

I'm rather shocked at how often I hear people suggesting that we should trade Suggs. I, for one, think he should stay in Baltimore.

Just going off the first half, I liked the play calling. Liked the screens to tire out the d lineman. Run game was terrible. The interior of the line was pretty good in the 1st half, tackles were terrible on both sides. There was one play the guy on the pats d came off the edge and the tackle didnt even get off his stance and the player was around him.

I thought boller looked decent, even if that reciever didnt run the right route on that play, boller still threw it into triple coverage. I thought Boller held a slight edge over Troy in this game. Smith made some good plays (especially that beautiful pass on the edge, perfectly thrown in the perfect spot). Overall i think Cam's play calling was good. Looks like the running backs are going to be catching a HOLE lot of passes this year.

Does anyone know if terry or gaither will be starting in the next game? I am very concerned about the line, they were average at best in the 1st half and terrible the rest of the way. I guess we need to keep in mind to they were going up against a very good D line.

The first thing to remember is that we will never see the play book wide open in pre-season. That being said I'm very excited to see what this season will bring offensively. The tempo was great and the play calls were very good. I think by the time we have all our starters decided the Bungles will be in for a long day on the 7th

i want to see if our red zone production can improve. the only touchdown we got was thanks to Figurs running down the field. other than that, our drives stalled and we got field goals... sound familiar?

We didnt have all the weapons on offense on the field that day. So hopefully when they are we will see TDs instead of FGs.
