Favre New York Bound

10 posts in this topic

Foxsports.com is reporting the Packers and the Jets have indeed, Reached an agreement on the Trading block for the legendary number 4. The month-long saga has finally come to an end, with the Packers trading their future Hall-of-Fame quarterback to the New York Jets. Ultimately ending any possibility of Favre remaining in Green Bay. The Jets were/had been much more aggressive than the Bucs were in their pursuit of Favre throughout the whole ordeal. But the Bigger issue was trying to get Favre on the same page as the Packers front office as far as the Jets were concerned.

Then Finally, late Tuesday night, Favre talked to Jets head coach Eric Mangini and others in the organization for the first time as they tried to convince Favre he would be a good fit in New York. and both sides seemingly reached terms and made things offical.

The Packers had been hopeful of getting a deal done with the Jets for two reasons because it was an alot better offer on the table as far as the quality of the compensation. It also sends Favre out of the conference, meaning a meeting in the playoffs is Near Impossible or at least a Gosh Darn Longshot to happen.

Ridiculous. Small town boy, Brett Favre, lands himself in the Big Apple?

The ringmaster of the biggest circus the NFL has ever seen ends up in the city with the highest expectations in the world for their Sports' teams. The lights shine pretty bright up in NYC, and with barely a month to digest a playbook and acclimate to new teammates, coaches, and surroundings, I predict a bad year for the Favre.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the only obstacle as of right now, is Favre himself agreeing to officals on making the deal 100 percent complete, the Jets also talked to Brett earlier on and reportedly told him that if he does accept it and does report, He does not have to Live in the Big Apple, instead the Team is offering to have him settle in along the outskirts of the city, in the country side not too far off from the Complex. All in all the team that has been the MOST active in trying to get Favre.

Keep in mind that New York was NOT Favre's First choice by any circumstances, i think it was more so on the Packers side of the deal as of right now, team Officals are also reporting that Now there will be some dramatic Changes to the jets team and most speculate the odd man out right now is that of Chad Pennington, which will surely cause a stir within the Football Community.

This Deal as of right now, has yet to be comfirmed by League Sources, but this is almost certainly a move in which will cause some dramatic emotions to occur and as of right now, there is about an 80 percent that he will report to Tranining Camp right now, All this talk about Favre and New York and yada yada yada, is simply that........Media blowing things up into HUGE things, and making things sound alot more than what they actually are, but again, most of what you hear about Favre and New York, is the media blowing things up.

this just in, Favre will Report to Training Camp and Team Officals have confirmed/said that Favre will in fact, Be the Starter come week one of the regular season....this gives Favre about a month to Learn a new team and system, grow comfortable with everyone on it, it may seem or sound alot more complicated than what it really is, it really just all depends on Favre himself, so right now all we can really do right now is sit back and wait.

This can't end well...

At the end of the day, I see the Packers making off better than Favre will this season.

But, this does nothing to damage Favre's legacy, since his past accomplishments speak for themselves. Even if he has a bad season, people will likely forget this as they've forgotten Joe Montana in KC, Joe Namath in LA, Jerry Rice in SEA/DEN (even the OAK stint, even though he had success there), and so on and so forth.

i agree, this move does nothing, towards Favre's Legacy as a Green Bay Packer, and its like the many Players before him and this day and age, many players later on in their playing Career, gets traded to another team and continues their career's for however long period of time that may be. We here in Baltimore can relate to this because of us Trading Johnny Unitas to the Chargers to play only a year.

Even though one player might leave one organization, doesnt at all mean that what they've done to the Franchise, goes to be Forgotten, its written down in history, there are no hard feelings between the sides what so ever, and its like Favre said "Football....its a Business and we both agreed to part ways from a business standpoint " so the Love and what he's created in Green Bay is not to be forgotten in anyway.

I, for one, view his reputation as tarnished. He was a household name before, but now my mom knows who he is, for all the wrong reasons. Frankly, I see him as a whiner, an immature **** in the Packers' side. I hope the worst for him this season, it's what he deserves.

noone should wish that on any player, this is a business and Favre's accomplishments have been set in stone as a green Bay Packer, a Foundation, a Tradition was built around him during his 16 years/seasons with the Packers, i mean after all when Baltimore Traded Unitas it was because this league is a business, thus they all must do the best thing for th Team and organization in mind. i mean number 19 never held anything against Baltimore for releasing/trading him to the Chargers, no he just went about his business until he retired ( a year/season later) then came back to Baltimore, where he stayed until the end of his life. He might have been Traded, but his heart will always be a Green Bay Packer and to that, i say this....his Legacy will not be tarnished because of the business side of this sport.

Brett Favre.... Green Bay Packer for life.

It's not the same, dude. Brett Favre very publicly said things about the Packers organization such as them "pressuring" him into retirement and being dishonest. This is a unique situation and cannot be equated, even slightly, to any other experience. He retired willingly, had he not, the Packers would have welcomed him back with open arms. There was no 'business' other than Brett Favre's selfish, immature agenda.

I actually went on the Packers official forum the other day and the majority opinion was something along the lines of; Seriously dude, thanks. But stay or go. Do one or the other and do it now. With or without you we have a season coming up. It didn't seem to me they were very nostalgic, but fed up, ready to move on, as we could probably imagine.
