The Touchback Kid Kicked How Many?

Billy Cundiff's Touchbacks   52 members have voted

  1. 1. How many touchbacks will Billy kick for the upcoming season? (You can pick more than one choices, if you can't decide)

    • 80+ (He will double his touchbacks and kick 95%-99% of his kicks into touchbacks)
    • 70-80 (That's like at least 85% of his kickoffs into touchbacks)
    • 60-70 (Probably the most reasonable number with the new kickoff rules)
    • 50-60 (That 5 added yards sure did help)
    • 40-50 (The new rules didn't change much I guess)
    • 30-40 (Looks like Billy didn't work his legs hard enough this off-season)
    • 30-Lower (Billy was a fluke and the Ravens are overpaying for an average kicker)
    • None of the above (I assume there was a lockout)
    • All of the Above (If you pick this, you found a way to select the wrong answer in a poll)

As most of you know, the kickoffs on the upcoming season are moved back to 35 yards from the 30 yards.

Last season, Billy Cundiff tied for the most touchbacks (40) in NFL history, which is about 51.3% of his kickoffs.

Also his kickoff average was 71.1 yards, which if he kicks from the 35 yard-line, his kickoffs will most likely end up at the 106.1 yard-line (basically the near the end of the end-zone).

With the new set of rules, that five extra yards will make NFL returners to think twice to bring that ball out of the end-zone or if they're against Billy, they can forget about it cause the ball is out of reach.

I'm waiting for someone in the stands to get booted in the face by a freak 90 yarder. That'll make them think twice about their precious "injury concerns".

i think the only way that any one of his kicks isnt a touch back is due to some gale force wind in his face

i remember hearing during a game that he found a sweet spot on the ball mid season ish, and then started bootin the ball further, so who knows what his percentage was fter that, i dont remember a kick not being a tb after i heard that, but im sure there were a few

I picked all of them, because I could, but probably 60-70 is my guess. The 5 yards difference will have an fairly significant impact.

Let me grab my crystal ball. Okay. Harbaugh, being a ST specialist, would train Billy to use the power he got last year to kick a higher, shorter ball. The increased hang time gives the ST speedsters time to get there before the runner gets to the 10-yard line. So while Cundiff won't sniff the lead in touchbacks, the Ravens lead the league in opponents' start position after kickoff and fair caught balls at kickoff.

Teams will need to go 85+ yards to get six, but, more times than not, will punt and give us great field position at around our own 45. This trends continues all the way to the SB, where we win 51-9 to complete perfect 19-0 season. Billy, after given the MVP as a kicker, also adds a SB MVP to his trophy case. Goodell's head explodes and the kickoff rule will change back to it's former version-which will be dubbed the "Billy the Kid" rule- thus securing Cundiff's place in history as the best kicker in the history of football.

After hearing of the rule change, he dons his trademark sombrero and rides off on a horse into the sunset, singing. He was never heard from again(with an exception of a season on Dancing with the Stars where, of course, he won and gained a legion of Latina fans due to his boyish charm and charisma). The horse returned two days later.

Billy is the man!!! I'd be a little foolish to consider him the next Matt stover but he's gonna be here for a while n is not only a touch back beast but is very reliable in FG's...anything from the closest FG to 45yds is pretty much goin thru 50 to even 60 there's a good chance he makes it pending weather conditions

Wow, who voted for 30? Don't they know that after 5 games he's leading the NFL with like 23, and if our offense scores as much as they have been he could easily break 50 by the midway point?
