In The Event Of A Lengthy Lockout

Scrubs vs UFL   17 members have voted

  1. 1. If NFL players are locked out and many move the the UFL, and NFL teams hire replacement players, which league would you be more interested in?

    • NFL with replacements
    • UFL with NFL players
    • I'll watch all the football that they'll show me
    • I'll wait until the lockout is over
    • The lockout has permanently soured football for me

In the event that the NFL players are locked out, it has not been ruled out by the owners that replacement players will be brought in. Only two NFL players have committed to UFL teams as of yet but if the lockout runs and runs it's not inconceivable that some if not a good number of NFL stars will make the jump to UFL, some to stick it to the owners, others because they did not invest as wisely as they perhaps should have and others just to stay in football shape. I don't honestly foresee this happening on a large scale but I think it's something that bares thinking about.

So, say if the Baltimore Ravens, comprised of 50 guys you've never heard of, play at the same time as the Las Vegas Locomotives with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis manning the defense, who are you tuning in for?

MK Dave, I choose the latter of those two options. I am willing to take a chance on seeing some of the NFL stars go to the UFL, and if that were to happen, it may prove interesting.

The whole idea of NFL stars going to play during a work stoppage reminds me of the strike in 1982, which lasted 57 days and, for a little bit early on during that strike, the union players put on their own games - for just a little bit.

However, should the owners bring in replacement players, along the lines of the 1987 strike, then there could be trouble.

I don't think it will get to that point. But, if it did, I'd probably watch both. I'm more loyal to the laundry than the player, though - even though Ray is my all-time favorite.

I'd probably watch the UFL because itd be the same thing but with different names of the teams and slightly adapted rules.

That is in the perfect world, but with the contracts the NFL has with CBS and all them I'd probably end up watching whatever is on TV.
