Naismith Player Of The Year?

10 posts in this topic

Well I'm not aware of all the players in the running, but I do know of Nolan Smith, Jimmer Fredette and Kemba Walker. I like Nolan Smith. I think he's a great player, but he doesn't carry his team like Walker or Fredette. It's a tough call between Walker or Fredette. I think Walker is quick and is a great shooter. And he's critical late in the game. He draws contact like no other I've seen with the exception of UNC's Ty Lawson a few years ago. But Kemba Walker is tough. Had a wrist and hip injury in last night's game and still had 33 points. Fredette is just a natural born shooter. There are so many of his shots that should not go in but they do. But BYU has more than just him for outside shooters. And Fredette also has a quick first step and great body control. I know it's some of the anti-Duke in me, but I'd be happy with either Walker or Fredette.

Id say fredette.. Walker has a better supporting cast and fredette actually plays defense

Kemba doesn't play defense? Have you actually watched any of UConn's games? Kemba is constantly poking the ball loose and creating turnovers or getting steals.

Kemba Walker.

Has helped UCONN to winning 10 straight, including 5 games in 5 days. And that embarrassing ankle breaker he pulled on that Pitt player (why a Center was guarding him..I would never know...) was one of the best scenes I've seen. Comparable to the Ray Allen shot during his UCONN years.

He looks like the best pro-ready player this year.

But otherwise my obvious choice is Kemba.

Sorry half my post disappeared.. I use my captivate when im on here and i always screw my posts up somehow.. But yea there was supposed to be some sarcasm in there about the drfense part..

But anyway right now for this ncaa tourney id rather have jimmer just for how the college game is played And just by perwonal opinion but all in all kemba is easily the more well rounded "nba ready" player obviously and better overally player

Would you still rather have Jimmer a week later when his team is out and Kemba's is going to the Final Four?:P

Man, this has to be one of the best runs I've ever seen from a team as well as an individual. The way UConn ended the regular season on a slump and then to just turn it on and roll through the Big East tourney. Then they keep on trucking through all these tough NCAA games to make it to the Final Four. All the while, Kemba has been putting on a show by scoring like 28 ppg, hitting buzzer beaters, and generally just willing his team to victory when they needed it. Simply amazing and I hope it continues on Saturday when we face Kentucky.

I want Kemba to win after Fredette's lackluster performance in BYU's loss... but I think Fredette will wind up winning it.
