[Blogs] Ravens On Hand For Smith’s Pro Day

i agree wrm#1... hankerson is probably the best WR after Jones and Green.. i mean he broke Andre Johnsons collegiate records on a weaker talent team than Johnson was on... but he just isnt getting the hype cuz statistically his team didnt play well at all.. Green/Jones played for highly televised teams, Young/Smith are getting nods on their 40times... Hankerson/Baldwin is what we need, guys that are big physical recievers..

If he falls to the second round we will take him, but OL is our main concern. We know Oz will select the right players.

RAVENS!!

Having gone to UMD, Torrey Smith is much better than DHB. He dropped fewer passes, he's faster off the line, he's more physical. He's a better athlete. He doesn't catch with his hands a lot, but he doesn't drop passes. DHB was bad at catching... anything.

To me he seems like a really determined and focused athlete. He could thrive in the enviornment that we could provide

Getting torrey smith will solve alot of our problems. Safety's will have to play deeper and Boldin can get more open space. Our offense is revolved around running the ball and throwing deep. It worked with Flaccos rookie season until we got rid of Clayton. Clayton caught alot of deep throws..

Since Mason and Boldin are your starters and you already have Brandon Jones and Hardy signed, why reach in the first round for a Wr if a good OLB/DE or CB is available. If you look at the games the Ravens lost it was because of Defense giving up a 4th quarter lead or offensive turnovers. A Wr doesn't solve either of those issues. To beat Steelers you need to cover Wallace and Co, get to Big Ben, and block their rushers. That's not a Wr job. We can get a guy with speed 2nd or 3rd round.

You have to beat the guys in your division first. Or you will miss playoff or always play on the road which is a much more difficult path to SB,especially in the AFC.

Draft DE in first round-love Kerrigan he is a Boilemaker ala Drew Brees and Rod Woodson...he reminds me of a young Patrick Kearney-would be a perfect fit, if he isn't there then either Cameron Heyward (great pedigree and a buckeye) or the DE from Iowa, 2nd round get RT-either Sherrod from Miss.St. or the Villanova guy-we are all sick of the Jared Gaither saga either plug in Harewood or draft somebody, 3rd round get a SS(best available)-Dawan Landry's time is up, 4th round get FB to replace Leron McClain(best available),5th round-get a RB(best available)...boom!! Add WR and CB through free agency...Carr, Josh Wilson, Jonathan Joseph, Randy Moss, Plaxico Burress, Chad Johnson, Santonio Holmes all will be there!!!!

Todd McShay mocked Smith to us in the 2nd, with Heyward as our first round pick. I would be very happy if this happened. I wish we could get Wilkerson in the first, but his stock has skyrocketed the past couple weeks.

Ahem, ahem. *cough* *cough*

I just don't really want anything to do with Smith. He isn't sharp in and out of his cuts, his track speed doesn't translate to game speed (you only have to watch his highlights to see it) and he body catches a lot due to having microscopic hands. I would say he's a developmental guy, but there's no part of his game that makes him really worth developing.

I the guy and he seems like a stand-up man off the field, but on it he looks like a mediocre College receiver, nevermind NFL receiver.

All you said was true, but he still plays really really hard. Half the season he was playing on a gimp ankle and still put up very impressive stats. I think the small hands thing may be an issue, but he is faster than you give him credit for.

I would still rather have Baldwin or Hankerson in the 2nd. I feel both have more game than Smith. Most mocks have them both ranked higher as well.

I watched Shannon Breen up in towson yesterday 6'3" 325, needs some work but very athletic for an o lineman, maybe a steal in the 5th or 6th...
