Special Teams

Having Gary Stills chaseing returners down last year along with some other increasingly popular ST stars was a luxury. Now to throw in Brendon Ayanbadejo the brother of our former FB sensation -- that packs one hell of a punch. I just hope to see both Stills and Ayanbadejo stay seated on the 53 man roster, which is likley according to Harbaugh, a coach that holds emphasis on the importance of ST.

Also Tom Zbikowski will more than likley return some kicks/punts in which he was known for at Notre Dame. Yamon Figures will also be a key factor as he handles the kick-off duties, which I think he's going to dominate the league this season. Every game starts with a special teams play, which will hopefully give us an edge to the opposition. Starting field position is essensial for not only our offense, but the defense too. I would expect Harbaugh to mix in a few more names to the list of kick/punt returners this season.(if anyone could come up with the projected ST starters that would be great)

Go Ravens

The Ravens will Dominate on Special Teams this year because:

1. We have Yamon Figurs Returning Kicks (4.3 forty yrd dash)

2. We have Gary stills (Special Teams Pro Bowler)

3. We have Brendon Ayanbadejo (Special Teams Pro Bowler)

4. We have AutoMattic Stover (3rd Most Accurate Kicker in NFL history)

5. We have Ed Reed (1st player to ever block a punt and return it for a Touch Down)

6. We have Tom Zbikowski, Tavaras Gooden, Dan Cody, Edgar Jones, and Antwan Barnes

7. We have a Head Coach that was a former Special Teams coach for Nearly a Decade in the NFL

8. We have the best defense in the league which shuts down offenses allowing more opportunities to return punts for Touch Downs

9. Bcuz we're the Ravens and the only thing we do is smack people in the mouth.

If you even DREEAMM that there's a special teams in the NFL better than the Ravens you better wake up and apologize!

Don't forget that Sam Koch is coming off a career year in punting (i know "career year" and "punting" don't exactly roll of the tongue together), he's definitely solid, did a good job of pinning opponents inside the 20 roughly 1/3 of the time.

We have incredible quality in this department and are more then set for next season with all of our options. Plus Harbs does very well with Special Teams. I'm excited to see us crush Josh Cribbs a few times this season.
