[Blogs] ‘Resounding Yes’ Foxworth Returns

45 posts in this topic

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh strongly believes cornerback Domonique Foxworth, who missed all of 2010 with a knee injury, will be ready when he suits up next season.

In fact, Harbaugh is confident Foxworth could play tomorrow if the NFL Players Association executive committee member wasn’t attending a collective bargaining session.

When asked whether Foxworth would play in 2011 on a conference call with fans, Harbaugh offered a “resounding yes.”

“He will be back. He probably could play right now,” Harbaugh said Wednesday.   “He’s spending a lot of time on some of the union stuff, but I know he’s also working out, he’s training, he’s doing great.”

The Ravens lost Foxworth early, as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee last July while participating in a non-contact practice.

He underwent surgery from renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Aug. 10, and from there, the rehabilitation began.

And since Foxworth, a University of Maryland product, lives locally, much of that rehab was accomplished at the Ravens’ training facility in Owings Mills, Md.

“I don’t know if he’s ahead of schedule, but the good thing is – if there is a light at the end of the tunnel or a silver lining to that cloud – at least he got hurt as early as possible,” said Harbaugh.  “I mean it was before he even really started practice, so it gives him the maximum possible time to get that knee right.”

Without Foxworth, the Ravens moved forward with Fabian Washington, Chris Carr and Lardarius Webb as their primary corners at the beginning of the season, while bringing new addition Josh Wilson along slowly.

Wilson and Carr ended the year as the Ravens’ starters, and Baltimore’s secondary remained a strength.

Now, Foxworth will have an opportunity to work his way back into a group that could lose any of Washington, Carr or Wilson, all of whom are expected to become unrestricted free agents.

Harbaugh doesn’t expect Foxworth to miss a beat.

“I don’t think we’re going to see too many side effects of him coming back early on,” said Harbaugh.  “He should be full speed right out of the gates.”

Wilson, Foxxy, Carr, Webb, Nakamura and Cary Williams can hold down corners. Draft one WR(only if dominate) and go all out on LBs and OL-men.

Trade him! Of course not until a new CBA is in place. :)

I agree if we are going to get rid of mcgahee because he is an overpaid backup what about this guy. Wilson is already better, Webby will be soon so that leaves him as a nickel and who is willing to fork over that kind of money when we could allocate that somewhere else.

Foxworth, Wilson, Webb, Carr. Our secondary should actually be a strong point next season. Especially if we draft another CB. After looking at what we have, I think they should worry about receiver first.

I don't think we're going to be able to resign both Wilson and Carr. Carr's going to get a good offer from another team (probably overpaying him). So unless he's going to take less to stay here I don't see him staying. Still Wilson, Foxworth, Webb and Williams will be a very good CB group.

If they play at all!!! I am sooo disappointed that these two groups of people cannot come to a concensus on this stuff... I am beginning to believe that this is what they want... Create the hype, raise the emotion of the fans, and come in at the eleventh hour. Tell Dominique to Get It Done. He is one of the reps on the NFLPA. It's something they need to do, that is, if he wants to play so bad!

Foxworth couldn,t cover a cold. Our secondary was alot better without him and would have been better if we had a pass rusher(with Suggs).

Since we can't be sure that we can get a top "worth-while" corner in the draft and if we can't secure a solid corner via free agency; then we should keep Foxy.

no matter who comes back the secondary still needs a shut down corner to help out the safeties. so a CB with our 1st round choice would be a wise one. there is a lot of depth in the 2-4 round range for speedy WR's and offensive linemen.

Foxworth was one of the better corners we had in 2009 and then Wilson was the better corner this yr and with the both of them back with webb or carr playing nickle i think thats a very solid secondary. And our secondary played extremely well when there was pressure soo i think our first round choice will be a DE/OLB or a Tackle.

Yea i def agree with throwinpicks this draft as alot of good pass rushers and our secondary should be pretty good with the guys we have and then with an even better pass rush from our first pick as a de and then if kindle comes back we would dominate on D. then we just need to find ilb who really makes a difference to play next to ray im hoping mathews or maybe greg jones.

AIGHT! But my question is how hes gonna play? A year away from football is a long time people. I'm confindate that he will do good, but a year without has a bad effect on a player. I'm just saying, I know he will do but he will start off sluggish but improve he keeps playing

Ravens need to draft to kicker, long snapper, two Tight Ends, a return man, someone in the later rounds to play special teams

I'm already tired of seeing Foxworth in his suit. What the heck did he do for this team other than show up out of shape and tore an ACL doing nothing. His legs were not in shape. Now he thinks he's Donald Trump in his suit telling the owners what they should do. Send him to McDonald's for 10 bucks an hour and watch how they come crawling back!

Out of shape? You can tear an ACL and be in prime condition.

Keep trollin'...

if we are going to over pay a player, i prefer McGahee be that someone......Foxworth would be like our #3, or #4 CB.......

I have and I do. At least enough to know that tearing an ACL has very little to do with "your legs being out of shape". He probably got it caught on the turf, his knee twisted, and a ligament tore. He could be a marathon runner and the same thing would have happened.

Foxworth had been working with the NFLPA for a long time before the Ravens. I haven't seen any arrogance from him that would equate him to Donald Trump. Please... you're just trolling.

berad, how many marathon runners or sprinters tear acl's. it has everything to do with your quad, hamstrings and calves. there are circumstances with sod or very soft turf that could cause this but that was not the case. we were experiencing a drought and the field was like concrete. oh and who else tore a ligament?? he did not train properly. he was not that good in denver and somehow has become this great corner. he's average to below average and needs to focus on football not his negotiation skills. just watch. biscotti will not forget this. get real son.
