Now That There Is No Football, Plans?

66 posts in this topic

So, now that the NFLPA has walked away from negotiations and filed for Decertification, what are your plans?

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Lingerie League moving their games to Sunday to fill the void.

I'm going on strike against the NFL if there is indeed no football this season. Thats ridiculous, a statement that, for both sides, says, "yes, we do make enough money to be more than satisfied, and yes, there are tons of fans that will be angry about this; but if I'm not happy, then who cares about them, and the fact that we already make too much to begin with??"

Bunch of idiots if there is no football this season.

these guys should be ashamed of themselves.
how much money do those owners have to have, apparently more.
the players put their bodies, heart and minds into this game and the owners always want more.
isn't 16 games enough? what about the rookies making crazy unproven money?
the whole thing is really stupid, and now we won't have football.
I am really upset, these are supposed to be genius businessmen who have made their money, I can't believe they do not have a deal.

Sending DeMaurice Smith a new piece of hate mail every day until we have NFL again.
This.

Also inciting mass hysteria and rage culminating in the pitchforks being lit and a riot aimed right at the NFL and NFLPA in particular.

It wasn't a new or sudden development, they had over two years to get this done.
But I've been looking at tactics and PR war and media posturing for those two years

Both sides would do well to remember who is paying for tickets and jerseys and overpriced concessions and NFL gamepass (if you're outside the US).
Or the thousands of security and service staff working in 31 stadiums in the USA and now face losing that employment

Without the fans there will be no $9 billion to split up

Yeah I agree! Who are these people who are making the 'wise' decisions over there?? They should go back to school for business if they really think they'll get anything done the way they're going...

I am going on strike against anything NFL. I refuse to buy any NFL Items until a new deal is in place. I will be voicing my displeasure the entire time to NFLPA and the NFL. Without us fans .. They would have all that money to even argue over. So .. Lets all hit em where it hurts ( Their Wallets) ! Its Greed on both sides, The yall make more money then most of us will see in a lifetime. Dang !

Hey, give the guys a break. I mean they were only a billion dollars apart at one point in time

It's obvious neither side is even thinking of the repercussions of not having a season this year. Greed is such a wonderful thing.

Not sure, I'm use to Sundays from after the SB to September not being filled with games, but I would probably feel empty inside if there is no Football from September to Feb.

Baseball still hasn't recovered after their lockout, anyone wanna take a guess on how long it will take for the NFL to recover after this mess?

Greed. Maybe while not concentrating on football we'll all realize we are overworked and underpaid and want a part of the $1 billion they make in overpriced tickets and stadium food back into OUR pockets and not theirs......

The worst part for me is, because I understand both sides' arguments, there was a perfect middle ground that I could see clear as day, that they couldn't see.

They're just acting like kids. Even myself, with no business acumen and no experience in dealing with such financial matters, can understand where a middle ground would work perfectly, even as a temporary solution. Both sides stand to lose even more money if there's no football, especially in stark contrast to the amount they'd inevitably make with a new CBA.

OK, I get it: operating costs are up, so owners need more money, while players are concerned about their health and market value. That's all well and good. But what happened to the greater good that they talked about? I don't see it.

This entire thing has played out like a schoolyard slapfest where both sides went home crying because of a bloody nose. All that's transpired up to this point is irrelevant compared to how everyone will be bleeding money this Fall if there's no cash to line their pockets and nurse their wounds.

This article perfectly encapsulates my feelings: Yahoo Sports

In a few years i'll settle down and marry, and my kids will eventually have kids of their own, and i'll sit down with them and reminisce about the old days when heroes wore purple, and legends rode majestic laser shooting Ravens into battle.

If there is no football everyone should go downtown and patronize the businesses. They and their employees are the ones that are going to get hurt the most.

Yeah I know. Adam Schefter tweeted something about that:

"don't forget hotels, restaurants, other businesses who will suffer if there's no NFL."

"Today's events bigger than owners and players. Many asst coaches, scouts, office workers will be laid off, fuloughed and have salaries cut."

Let's see, a bunch of coaches, scouts and office people from 32 different teams.. hello higher unemployment.

http://twitter.com/AdamSchefter

This better get solved quick and soon.

Incoming rookies are screwed. Second year guys are also seriously hampered. The players are only hurting themselves.

I can feel for both the players and the owners. But come on you grown "supposedly" men, you mean to tell me you can't figure out how to split NINE BILLION dollars?!?!?!?!? Jesus with all the problems going on with the regular man and woman, who actually make this country go around and actually work real jobs getting paid pennies to what you millionaires make. I wish I had the problem of trying to figure out how to split up NINE BILLION dollars!

I'm going to nurse my anger and annoyance of both sides whilst HAPPILY watching hockey and baseball...oh yeah and college football, too!

Praying too that all the little people in the NFL industry (like the stadium workers, etc.) can make it through.
