17 posts in this topic

I'm gonna be a Freshman this year and I have played Fottball for my middle schoool the last two years. I'm a reciever and a kick returner. Number 23. This year I'm aiming for 43, just like the old man.

You guys make me feel old. I played pop warner from 131+, spent my preteen/tween years a DE/TE lol @ pop warner.

High school football was what really got me hooked. Benedictine High School, Richmond, Va. Class of 2000. Freshman year I made the teams and started as a weak side tailback in a Flexed T formation (awful, we passed about 5 times a games), also starting CB, gunning on Kicking teams, and holding on Point after and Field goal teams!! lol... I also returned a kick or 2 Freshman year, and played a little WR when we ran this stupid Flexxed slot formation. Sophomore year I moved to FS and got more reps as a TB. I only got about 5 carries a game, as I was more of a decoy/receiving/blocking back but I lead our team in total TDs and INTs my Sophomore year! I even returned an INT for a TD in the first game of the year against our rivals! I continued to gun on Kick Off and hold on point after/feild goal teams, and returned a few kicks again, one was a 79 yard return on an opening kickoff but I got tackled at the 2 yard line! This was my best year. Junior year I rarely got on the field except for ST and 2nd team D. I didn't score a TD or get an interception my junior year. Our team was 5-6 :( Senior year started off great! I was chosen starting FS, I was outside contain on Kick Offs, back on the field again! We also got an outstanding Sophomore QB named Patrick Dosh who went on to set career records for the state of Va in passing yards, breaking the mark set by Ronald Curry. He went to Florida but transfered because he got no playing time, ended up playing FB for ECU. Also we had a TE named Patrick Estes who went on play TE at UVa and later got drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. We went 7-4 but made the playoffs and lost to RB Chris Perry (of UM and the Bungles) and Fork Union Military Academy. My buddy Kenny Stallings led all of D-III in receiving yards as a freshman, but got booted for failing 2 drug tests before the season even ended, what a shame.

Every August I get the tingle. I feel like I should start running again to get ready for the 2-a-days. I miss football badly.

i switch my [profanity deleted].every year

7th grade-rec football...WR and lol, coach was gonna stick me on the o-line...until i started making all these catches in practice scrimmage...and so he made me one...i had my name called a few times but the QB always got sacked when my name got called(our o-line probably led the league in sacks  )

8th grade-middle school football..well,i was a TE,back when i could actually catch..i was known for great catches in practice...and i started getting better at keeping my feet moving after contact to get a few more yards...and as soon as i started making catches in practice...he made me a T(what the heck?)..and i was an end when i couldnt catch a cold...shows what happens when a soccer coach coaches football

9th grade-JV..i decided to play defense mainly...i was a CB...i got good at tackling...but i didnt start because i was bad at covering..in a game where we missed about 1,000 tackles...i got in for 4 plays during the game(not in garbage time) and had 2 tackles

10th grade-first season varsity...since i was better at tackling and not covering..i wanted to play strong safety(still cover but not deep as much)..but our defense is a 3-5 and doesnt have one...so i tried LB...i played outside LB(we have a special name for them,patriots)..but then they got moved up to play on d-line(which makes no sense since their smaller and usually not as good at taking on blocks)...i was only good for tackling in practice...scout D

11th grade-second season varsity...i like tackling straight ahead,1-6 holes rather than chasing down ball carriers, rather than outside containt..so i moved inside to the main 3 LBs..this is the season im currently playing

i felt like giving my career history...even though its long and not overly exciting

I have been a defensive tackle since I was 8, I have also DE and some FB and TE. My best performance was a 4 sack 22 tackle game against in high school against our rivals. (I was at DT). Blew out my knee at my senior day and havent really played since (about 8 years ago) think Carson Palmer knee blowout. I still really want to play everyday but can barely run a mile and have to ice for hours afterwards.

I play OLB in a minor league over here in Germany.Like most of us I started as a runningback but I rather hit somebody and inflict pain, I guess that's why I'm a Ravens fan too.I'm pretty fast but I lack size (6 foot 195 pounds) for a OLB.The season just ended over here and right now I'm focusing on gaining some musclemass and improving my explosiveness in the offseason, doing a lot of plyometrics and traditional weighttraining.

well you still could try SS...alot of people who can hit but are undersized for a LB try SS

cause it doesnt have as much deep coverage as FS and you dont take on blocks like a LB does

I've never really had the chance to play. Living in Australia, it's hard to find a team you can play for, or even a ground to go watch. Then again, I'm 6'5" and almost 280lbs, so I have no idea what I'd be good at :D

if your fast and can come off the ball quick you might be a good DE

im playing football for the first time this year. im the backup quarterback on my school's freshman team. im not very good but whatevs baseball is my game anyway. im an awesome second baseman and a GREAT GREAT GREAT hitter. i led my team this past season with a .478 AVG, .581 on base percentage, .652 slugging percentage, and a 1.233 on base plus slugging average. and even though i played five less games with a broken hand, i was first in hits, 2nd in runs, and 3rd in walks

In England the only place I can play is in my school league where there is 4 teams and everyone is horrifically suckish, and many of the players have never even seen a football match. It was fun because I was entirely dominant as a DE (Which isn't surprising given I have about 75 pounds on most tackles in the league [which says less about the size of me and more about how parculiarly small most of the offensive lineman are in my league]) and to a lesser extent, RB. But It got kinda boring when there's only a few teams and everyone sucks.

I feel SO sorry for them...I feel even worse because, football over there is what we call "soccer" over here, so when you're referring to NFL football, it's American football (which is SO unnecessarily long to say)...
I played nose tackle/center on a flag football team in HS.
Hmm...I woulda thought powderpuff football. :P
