Tom Zbikowski Challenges Chad Ochocinco To A Boxing Match

34 posts in this topic

You've probably heard about Zibby's upcoming professional match (if not check it out here).

PFT reported earlier today that Zbikowski said that Chad Ochocinco is the NFl player he would most like to face in a boxing ring. The Ravens safety claimed he would knock #85 out in 45 seconds.
“Ochocinco talks like he can box,” Zbikowski said.

“I’d let it go for about 45 seconds,” Zbikowski said. “I’d let him know what a real jab feels like.”
Ochocinco responded on Twitter: @tommyzbikowski you wana go nite nite, you want to box me, for 1 your feet are to slow and you've no hand speed to even be competitive #smh http://twitter.com/ochocinco/status/44813022010687488#

According to PFT:
Zbikowski didn’t hesitate, posting the following challenge on his Facebook page: “Dear Ocho Cinco . . . thanks for following my career . . . You and me at M&T Bank Stadium, charity four-round boxing match. You wear Orange and Black and I will wear Purple and black. If we do it in May, that should give you enough time to get ready . . . You game?”
Who thinks Chad will actually show up?

I have seen the video posted on here of Zibby knocking a guy out really quick, Chad stands no chance against Zibby.

I love Ocho, he's just a big kid who plays football, but I cant see Z getting knocked out in a boxing match.

I'd definitely like to watch Ochocinco get knocked out. I doubt it will shut him up though.

Chad may be a street fighter when he was a kid, but I don't think he has any experience in the professional boxing. On the other hand, Zibby has all the experience he needs to be a professional boxer. It's a blow-out or literally a beat down for Chad if he accepts the challenge.

Chad is just a big mouth person. He won't shut up until he rests in piece, so it is what he is....

PS: BTW, I still want a ticket for this event if it ever happens....

Roddy White, too, after his infamous push-down. Maybe even Joey Porter, for old times sake...

Lets not get carried away, Zibby has one pro fight under his belt. Anyone can get knocked out. I would love to see this go our way, but i have seen many amateurs get knocked out by regular guys.

Get Ryan Clark and Cortland Finnegan in there also.
I'd rather see Finnegan v. Johnson again, that was some crazy footage.

2nd Match:

Carson Palmer vs Mike Brown 3 Rounds, if Palmer wins Brown MUST Trade Him

3rd Match:

If Chad would happen to get knocked out or lose, he would just be a typical J.A. like always and have a ton of excuses. It's pointless for Zibby to waste time and energy on such a worthless person like Chad. It's to bad the publicity would be the main drive, so Zibby should give the publicity to a person who deserves it! Just my two cents, and that's just about what it's worth.

I would rather "Zibby" use his hands to learn how to catch a football when it's thrown his way (Bengals Game..) then punch someone or get punched.. Where are all the guys now saying Bart Scott is an idiot for going on Wrestling when Zibby is gonna get punched in the face several times for money?

Can't equate boxing and wrestling. There's a reason why guys like Muhammad Ali and Hulk Hogan aren't held in the same regard.

One signed his money away to his wife in a divorce and the other one can't sign anything and doesn't know his name?

EDIT: You did make my point though. People were complaining that Bart was making a huge risk getting injured doing that wrestling "stunt" but everyone backs up Zibby for getting his face punched in.

Besides that :P

One did an actual sport, the other is a professional wrestler.

I don't think any reasonable person thought Bart Scott would get injured by having an appearance on a wrestling event, that's grasping for straws. I thought Scott doing wrestling was funny because it was, it's a joke.

Zibby does have a chance of getting injured but football is much more violent and potentially damaging to the body than boxing.

Amateurs may have gotten knocked out by regular guys but I doubt it happens in a ring, with rules. Maybe a bar fight or streetfight an amateur boxer gets beaten by a guy that never trained as a boxer or fighter of any kind.

Bob Arum doesn't sign off on publicity stunts, I'm thinking that if he puts on the fight it's first class ( or as close as that can be in todays boxing). For god sakes, he's on the card with the COTTO fight , thats a BIG deal.

Zibby had one pro fight BUT it was at MSG, bums from the amateur ranks dont generally get a shot like that.

Wow is all I can say to you people equating boxing to all these other offseason antics, Zbikowski's fight Saturday is completely different than Bart Scott on WWE or whatever. The team can do absolutely nothing about it because he has yet to sign his RFA tender which means he is free to do however many fights he wants because he is NOT under contract. Tom was on First Take the other morning and they asked him about getting injured. He made the great point that boxing IS much safer from most stand points than the NFL. One guy with gloves who could knock you out or up to 11 guys in hard equipment going for legs, ankles, etc. Tom, I am looking forward to seeing your fight Saturday and maybe you can sneak in some more before the new CBA.

Now with all of that said, I can't see this fight happening for one of the reasons I mentioned above: Chad EightFive IS under contract and I can't imagine that fight would fly. I'm gonna take this as what it is: Tom cleverly using the predictable sworn duty to social networking of Chad to gain some hype for the fight Saturday. He KNEW as soon as word got out about him wanting to fight Chad via that question proposed to him that that clown would take to Twitter like his life depended on it. Very clever my man, very clever

I have to disagree here people have died in the ring boxing, not sure its happened in football. I could be wrong, but this has happened in boxing more than a handful of times.
