Just wanted to know what yall feel about it.

I'm listening it to it right now. Lupe's verses are nice as always. And I like the album a lot

It's a tad more mainstream than typical Lupe, but it still has a distinctly different feeling about it

I like it, but it's not as good as The Cool. After reading what happened with his record label and how they wanted him to make mainstream songs and "chase radio" I can see why Lupe was pretty disappointed about how it turned out. State Run Radio pretty much defines the issue with how they wanted make to make more club and radio songs.

It has a lot of good songs. I like Beautiful Lasers, Words I never Said, All Black Everything, and the Show Goes On the best so far.

It's a really good hip hop album, but not by Lupe's standard . I'm pretty split myself, but I like most of the songs than not.

And I love Lupe as a musician, but some political things he says are a lil dumb (911 is a conspiracy, his overall antipathy of war, etc.)

It isn't as good as his two previous albums in my opinion but I still like it.

He has a few VERY good songs in Lasers, but overall, I agree. It's not as good his previous albums (which he said himself)

I was rather disappointed. He is my favorite artist and my escape from mainstream. I had high hopes for this one because of his first two. He has yet to match Food and Liquor.

It's good overall, though.

It's not bad, try Sir Lucious Leftfoot by Big Boi.

That's a great, well-rounded album. I point to that as an example of how to do a great mainstream rap album.

Whenever he stops acting. He's more concerned with that than his music career right now.

I get your talking about Words I never Said? I feel the same way, it's just too "poppy" for such a serious song. It reminds me of B.O.B.s "Airplanes" rather than Nas's "Rule" when rapping about something serious and having a woman chorus. Not really one of my favorite songs, but it's good.

I know Lupe is working on Food & Liquor II, but he's also working on releasing another LP sometime this year. (LINK)

Food and Liquor is one of my favorite albums of all time so if he's going to come out with a "part two" version, he better bring it.

Found this quote to be very telling about the album:
"There are a couple of songs on there that I love; but Lasers is a little bit of what you love, a little bit of what you like, and a lot of what you had to do."
Had to be frustrating to for your label to be in your ear and it was said he was basically fighting with his own label for creative control.

It's a shame. He's one of the most gifted lyricists in my opinion.

As for Lupe, an interesting interview with him was in b magazine today.

I thought "The Show Goes On" is really good. It was the first song by Lupe that I ever heard (other than one of his songs in Madden) and it got me into his music.
