Little bit of info from his draft report.

Strengths:Huge player at 6-7, 321 pounds. Quick initial first step. Very good at keeping his player in front of him and making the defender work to get around him. Did not accumulate many penalties throughout his career. Very smart player. Not the very best pass blocker, but known primarily for his run blocking. Not a ton of upside for Eric, but a very good player nonetheless.

Weaknesses: Has been a little injury prone throughout his career. Cannot block a speed rusher to save his life. If he faces a really big pass rusher with a lot of good moves, he will be beat about 50% of the time

Draft projection: A very big guy who is a decent athlete. Definitely worth picking up sometime late on the 2nd day. Will never be a superstar in the NFL, but I can definitely see him contributing to some team right away.

Did I miss something, I thought we already signed this guy.

Having decided not to play footballwhen he came out in 2009, I'm leary of him agreeing to play now.

Everyone else signs names like Sanders, Bailey. We sign someone who hasn't seen a football field in two years. Sometimes I wonder.

Like that bart scott guy...

It's a no risk situacion, we can put him in training camp and see if he can play. He's supposed to be a good run blocker. In ozzie we trust.

Like Bart Scott how? We signed Scott out of college. This guy hasn't played in two years. His last college game was in 2008 I believe from the limited info on him I can find.

He sounds like, as Purple Punishment said, like he could likely be more than a camp body and might push for a roster spot, but I doubt very highly that he will be 'the answer' to our RT position. A decent backup maybe, but no more.

God help Joe if this guy is up against Mathis when we face the Colts.

Does anyone else think this has any bearing on the whole "Gaither Situation".
I mean have we signed him to add a little depth and some options because Gaither isnt coming back and we are going to draft a Tackle, Or maybe because he is and they are still concerned about injury?

Just throwing it out there.....

I really hope not. I'd prefer not to think that the FO is relying on a guy who's been out of the league as of late, or saving a high draft pick on an OT. I wanna draft and rebuild DEFENSE dammit.

On a sidenote: I don't know how or why Gaither keeps getting a bad rap from some of you other ppls, cuz from what I can see, he hasn't done anything to really warrant it. And, I know, he's been injured years past as well, but he always came back. And he's always remained a staple on the O-line throughout his tenure as starter. Just look at last year's O-line woes if you need proof.

Sanders has played 9 games in three seasons and Bailey re-signed with his team, getting a front-loaded deal. Those are exactly the kind of moves the Ravens should have made...

I think there is a very strong possibility of us drafting a OT early. Maybe even the 1st rd ! But one of the top tackles would have to fall to us first, such as Castonzo, Smith or Solder. I dunno Maybe even Gabe Carimi. Right now I would really like to see us take a DE in the 1st and a WR in the 2nd and maybe OT or FS/ SS in the 3rd. or Trade down a gain more picks (If the right trade is there )Its tough this year because we have several needs that really need to be filled early in the draft so we can have a starter quality guy. I pray this CBA crap gets figured out this week,So Free Agency can begin, then we will know whats needed in the draft.

Perhaps but 9 games>0 games. So if you consider signing Sanders a bad idea (which I wasn't implying these are people the Ravens should have gone after exactly) than signing a guy who hasn't seen a snap in two years would have to be an even worse idea.

Idk what the big fuss is about, its not like he got a $600 million contract. He's probly making the minimum. He's a camp body, with potential. Low risk, high reward.

Did I ever say signing Sanders was a bad idea? And why are you even the games they've played? The Chargers took a flier on one of the most fragile players in the league and plan on starting him. The Ravens signing this guy doesn't mean they wouldn't try and sign a FA tackle or draft one.

Well I guess we don't have to worry about offensive tackle anymore!

(Just kidding, just kidding :D )
