Was reading THIS article about the falling number of people who have traditional land line telephones in their homes. Since everyone in my family has a cell, it didn't take long for it to occur to us that the traditional land line from the phone company was just a hassle - mostly telemarketers and various other people we didn't want to talk to - so we got rid of it. We have no telephone at all in my house except for our individual cells.

I thought it might be interesting to take our own poll on the Ravens board to see how closely we follow the national trend.

Do you still have a land line telephone?

My family still has a landline phone, only because not every family member of ours across the country has a cell phone.

I, myself, will rarely use a landline, unless it's to order food at home, or to make a local call to another landline during the day.

I'm not too picky about my cell minutes since I don't talk on my cell nearly as much as I did in high school, but it's still better to be safe than sorry since I share minutes with my parents (whose cell usage varies monthly).

To be perfectly honest, my parents get MUCH MORE use out of the landline than their cell phones -- they're just old-fashioned.

We have a landline because we have DirectTV which requires a line to order pay per view and stuff and we also have Verizon DSL - which I think you need a land line for. Or am I wrong? Could someone put me straight on that!?

I only use the landline for ordering Chinese on a Sunday evening.

We have both. I can't remember to charge the cell AND the portable phones--thats why we have 4 portables :o Our Direct TV is wired into the router.
