Rpg Games For Xbox 360...

18 posts in this topic

Can some of you give me some good RPG games for the XBox 360? I am aware of Final Fantasy and the Oblivion as I own both but I want more. I love RPG games as I find them very time consuming. I love games that aren't so much linear (Like Final Fantasy) and they give you the chance to explore the world & towns. I also love games where the story line is kind of long and not just pushed into maybe about 2 hours of play. The graphics I am not so much worried about but just want a game that extends out.

Thanks.

You may like Fable 3. There's a linear storyline, but you can really do whatever you want. The fighting is a bit simplistic, but still fun. Just make sure to make as much money as you can, you need it for later.

Fallout 3 - set a nuclear warhead on a town, blow off people's heads, and run around post-apocalyptic D.C. - and Mass Effect 1+2 - be the biggest B.A. in the galaxy, or a paragon, and make some damn tough decisions that actually matter - are pretty great. Both offer a HUGE world with multiple side quests and plenty of characters... The 5th Elder Scrolls is coming out in November and Mass Effect 3 is set for this year, too.

You'll be hard pressed to find RPGs for this console generation that matches the greats of the SNES, PSone, and PS2.

I fully back up all of Berad's suggestions. Mass Effect one and two are two of the greatest RPGs I have ever played. Not typical RPGs, more of a melding of third person shooter and RPG (two is more of a shooter than one). But as Berad said, there are very tough decisions that actually impact the story, unlike some games that seemingly forget or downplay the decisions a player make.

If you liked Oblivion, you'll like Fallout. It'll keep you hooked for hours, especially with all the DLC that came out for it. Plus, it's always nice to play an RPG that isn't fantasy, swords, and magic. I do love Fable 2 and 3, but they are indeed simplistic in the battle system, but the openness of the world is top-notch.

Lastly, I'd suggest Tales of Vesperia. It's somewhat underrated, but the graphics are nice, and the battle system is entertaining. Like I said though, you'll be really hard pressed to find anything as great as the traditional RPGs of previous generations.

Fable Series

Fallout 3- Made by Bethesda who made TES:Oblivion.

Mass Effect 1 and 2

Two Worlds - This game gets a lot of criticism and is quite boring to start but once you get a bit far in it becomes a great deal of fun.

Dragon Age

Lost Odyssey - JRPG

TES: Skyrim is coming out eventually

I just bought Fallout 3 from amazon, but havent gotten it yet. If you buy Fallout 3 I suggest getting the GOTY version, that way you get all of the DLC content with the game, its 36.99 on amazon.

I had to kill Kaidan for Ashley, should've followed the bro code... Then I made a mess of things in Mass Effect 2 by getting jiggy with Miranda! Oh well.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 were my first forays into their respective series'. Instantly fell in love. I'd put Fallout over Oblivion in terms of gameplay but it had that pesky level cap.

I only did it because that <girl> was tripping about me working for Cerberus. If she's in 3, I might have to go back and replay, though, hah.

Im going to go back to ME 1 an replay it. ME is so great because all of your previous choices effect your future outcomes. I knew that I would love this series tho because I was a huge Knights of the old republic fan.

The only down side is they have not found a way to make it multi player online. The campaign in my eyes is pretty flawless.

Towards the end of Fable 3
you become king and have to save $6,500,000 to keep your people safe. The easiest way to do this is by increasing taxes and such. I wanted to be good so I chose good actions that kept my treasury low. I was planning on doing odd jobs to make up for the lost money, but the final day snuck up on me and only 500,000 out of 6.5 million people survived. Because of this, everyone hated me. So I ended up running around killing innocent villagers before turning the game off and giving it back to the person I borrowed it from.
Does XBOX 360 have old school RPGs for sale in the marketplace? PSN has Xenogears, Final Fantasy and Suikoden (not suikoden 2 though ). I love the classics!

one of my faves denotes alot of patients and a STEEP learning curve The Last Remnant by Square Enix. its a mix of a turn based RPG and Strategy but once you get a base understanding of it its good.
