Wow, I had no idea. To be honest, although no one wants to make excuses, that's still a pretty big factor as to why Mark Clayton's production dropped -- just that sort of distraction is enough to bring any person down. Add to that the injury bug that bit the team last season, and it's no wonder he disappeared on the field in 2007.

I admire Clayton that much more for having gone through what he did, and not making excuses for it. I especially admire the fact that he had kept it private for so long, and has only now made it public, after having resolved much of his ordeal.

It shows a lot of character, for a professional athlete to have the presence of mind to keep their business private when they're under a microscope, particularly when they're struggling.

Going through things with your significant other can really tear a mans head up. It like consumes your everything, and all you want to do is deal with that situation and nothing else. I've been through similar and alot of things have the potential to happen in that situation and there's no time table for getting over that either, but if your mind is somewhere else you can't play Pro ball. I hope he can get pass this and put his mind back on football. The quicker the better for his mental state.

based on the article. i think he is physically and mentally healthy now. he can now focus on football again and be the Clayton we saw in 2006.
