Who has done it? What were your results? What recovery drink/method did you use?

Any other information would be very helpful.

Some quick facts on me - I'm 6'3", currently weigh 195 lbs. and I'm 29 years old. I USED to be able to dunk and it kills me that I no longer can. I play in a league on Mondays and want to shock my team in a month or two :)

That is all..... :D

Edit - I guess that wasn't it. Forgot to mention that I started tonight and the Chest and Back (with the surprise Ab Ripper X at the end) kicked my ***!!

I started it last week. So far, the workouts have been pretty intense. Ab Ripper X is an awful workout (but in a good way)

Tomorrow you get to do Plyometrics (jump training) It's called the Mother of All Workouts and you'll get pretty sweaty during.

Yeah, the Ab Ripper X was a (un)pleasant surprise when it popped up on the screen.

I've heard the plyometrics is crazy! Are you following the nutritional guide and/or supplementing with anything else?

I don't have the guide because we borrowed the DVDs from my wife's friend. We're doing it more for weight loss than anything so we're just sticking to our normal, reduced-calorie diet. Also, no fast-food ever.

I did P90X while deployed. In 90 days it was literally a transformation. My strength, endurance, and flexibility all increased ten fold. Just a few of my recorded gains.

Before and Afters

2mi Run: 14:34/13:05
Pushups: (2mins) 72/94
Situps: (2mins) 59/88

Of course I was also exercising with my unit on organized physical training days but they were always very very light workouts in comparison to the P90X. I made sure to eat moderate portions 5 times a day. Completely clean diet with a cheat day every other week. P90X laid the ground work for me to get myself into the best shape of my life! It works if you follow it to a T, dont skip days, and most importantly, DIET DIET DIET!

I've always been a gym guy, but one of my friends has finally convinced me to try it.

I think I'll start next week. I'll post my thoughts after my first week.

Excellent.....Im in overall decent shape, just don't have the quick first step and endurance that I once had. At only 29, I need to start something now. Like I said earlier, I have a baskbetball tourney tomorrow morning and I have the plyometrics DVD tonight....oops!

Heard nothing but great things about P90X. I just ordered the program yesterday (along with a pull up bar and the bands).

I made it through Yoga X this morning and I can tell you that it's a horrible, horrible workout.

By horrible, I mean sadistic.

I need 10lb and 15lb dumb bells maybe, but I think I have most of what I need. I have to pay for a wedding in a few months too, so I can't go too nuts.

That's the way I felt about Abs of Steel. Then I conquered it.

I did it for about two weeks and loved the Kenpo workout, but despite making decent gains, I suddenly quit because it was kicking my butt that badly. I felt better than I had in years, but it was also very draining. I tried scaling back, but I just couldn't do it.

I'll probably try to get back on the horse when I find motivation again. During those two weeks, though, I gained a little more definition in my shoulders and I felt stronger and healthier. I highly recommend it, although I'd advise everyone not to do what I did and push yourself to do each workout with as many reps as designed; start smaller and work your way up, but make sure that your diet is consistent.

In terms of diet, the best rule of thumb is always moderation (portion control) and hydration. Those two basics are the cornerstone for any diet, and you should never starve yourself or else you'll pass out. It's not always what you eat, but how much you're eating and how often. It's entirely possible to have your pizza and steak and all that, but you need to keep it balanced and make sure that you drink plenty of water. Water will also help your skin adjust to weight loss, as your elasticity is improved.

Yea Franny, that's what's needed. Do what you can for each exercise (don't push it until you're ready) but do all the exercises in the routine.

Pretty much most of my body has been sore since I've started. It's never gotten to the point where I've been unable to keep working out though. Though I'm not looking forward to legs and back tomorrow. My butt was sore for a few days thereafter, though that could be from something else entirely.

I skipped a pose in the Yoga workout. No way I'm standing on my hands while resting my knees on my forearms.

I did quite enjoy the corpse pose though (lying on your back with your eyes closed for one minute)

It's pretty brutal, but if you can get through the first half, it's not terrible the rest of the way.

Just finished Kenpo X and it can kiss my butt.

Yeah, kempo was the real deal....definitely sweat the most during that one. Had to skip 80% of the yoga one last night since I severely sprained my ankle (again) at my bball tournament Saturday. 20 seconds into game 1 (of 6) I rolled up on my right ankle pretty severely.

So, skipped most of yoga and went onto legs and back instead yesterday.

If I didn't live on the second floor, Id do it for sure. I've began boxing again so that should get be to a decent level of fitness AGAIn.

My buddy saw some great results with the program, almost 30lbs in 3 months. He was 205 at 5'10" and went down to 178.

Always encouraging to hear....

Stretch X is a pretty serious little hour for those that are not flexible at all...i.e. me!

On to week 2 today. Actually proud I made it to week 2 without quitting.

You will also need some free weights (dumbbells) if you don't have any.

I have 20lbers, and some aerobic ones that I bought the Mrs., but if I can find them I have free weight dumbells.

I did also buy the resistance bands they recommend. Heard they're great for when you're away.

The one exercise I hate? Pull ups. ugh. They were a requirement in the Marine Corps. Most I ever did was 19 (20 was a perfect score). That was a long time ago though and I know I'm going to struggle with them.

I'm with you there. However, they do encourage you to do assisted pullups w/ a chair.
