If he doesn't take the "next step" this year, I'm sure all those that are "wacco" will be saying.... "they gave him too much freedom! It's not his fault, they didn't give him enough guidance!"

And some more wisdom and insight from the almighty one

Im worried Flocco may regress. He had a great year last year and why they let go of the QB coach im unsure. I think by letting him go flocco may feel like they took a shot at his play and could have really damaged his confindence. I sure hope not because he is a very talented QB and is the only way we make a super bowl.

Handcuffs or no handcuffs, we still need work on the offensive line. Cam was apparently holding Joe and the rest of the offense back last season, but show me an offensive coordinator who can be successful with a poor OL and I'll show you a miracle worker.

Indeed!! If Joe doesn't have time to let the routes develop it won't matter what they do. Joe wants more hurry up offense and shotgun, I think they should work with Joe to get the offense to where it best suites his talents.

I think this is something holding him back. He's been in the league 3 years and has had, I think, 3 QB coaches? He had Jackson in 08 and Zorn in 09.

The next step Joe has to take for me includes the following:

1.) No more rookie mistakes. I.E. The dumb lob pass into double coverage that was INT in the Steelers Divisional Round Match-up.

2.) Regain poise from Rookie year. I know this seems contradicting to my point above, but he looked like "Joe Cool" in 08, where was he's become a little more happy feet in his 3rd year. I think this was due to Zorn teaching him to move in the pocket. So Joe needs to learn to use that when neccessary, like when Cam calls a dumb play he should tuck and run. But otherwise, stand strong in the pocket, and don't let the pressure get to you. Offensive line will determine in this can happen.

3.) Play quicker. I think this was said of Brady too back when he was young. "Everything he does he needs to do QUICKER." Playcalling factors in too, as well as slow receivers. But he also needs to not hesitate when he sees a man open, and go through his reads quicker.

4.) Beat the Steelers with Big Ben playing. No more excuses. The defense did not change in all 3 match ups, there is no reason we coulnd't have been 3-0 against them this year. Joe stepped up week 4, he needs to do that every time we face these guys. He must be at his best against our biggest adversary. I love Joe, but if he cannot do this he will have a very hard time staking any clame of being elite.

5.) Become this team's leader. On and off the field. I don't care if he does this through example, through vocalising, whatever. flacco needs to make this HIS team. He's the qb. Harbaugh and Cam shouldn't be GIVING him more control, he should simply be taking it with the support of the team behind him. We know Joe has some 'nads, and it's time to whip em out and be right there with Ray Ray in leading this team.

I'm happy he's being given more freedom, but that alone won't push him over the edge. He must take himself there. Joe's my man, but I won't keep blindly defending him either. He'll be the first to say he has to improve. But he also knows he's one hell of a good qb, he just needs to trust in his abilities and go prove it now.

I heard that the game winning pass to Housh against the Steelers in week 4 of last season was... an audible by Flacco. This is just one example of what he can do when he (is allowed to) command the offense. Cut off the leash and let him loose!

Remember the fade touchdown pass by Flacco to Boldin to start the would be come back by the Ravens against Atl? Also an audible by Joe...
And we saw his improv skills against the Steelers in the second match up...even though we lost that one.
