INDIANAPOLIS -- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will be granted greater freedom with the offense this season, according to coach John Harbaugh.

“We'll put more and more into his hands,” Harbaugh said today at the NFL scouting combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.. “I think this year going into his fourth year maybe it will be a little more exponential and maybe people will see it a little bit more."

The Ravens haven't allowed Flacco to audible much in the past, but the current plan is to give him more autonomy going forward.

'Bout fricken time geez. Finally he will be able to adjust the line shifts and all that if he sees a blitz coming. Great news.

This is great news. I have a tremendous mancrush on Flacco, like some of us here, so I love this idea. I officially predict we will score four thousand points in 2011.

This is a great start, now Cam just needs to get the base plays called in before the 11 guys on the field have to hurry to the line just to get the snap off in time.

Whats the point....Flacco is the next Carson Palmer. Never will, and never shall be elite.

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR, MR.AVERAGE JOE

Have you met edreedfromtheu? I think you two would be the best of friends.

Now, with his handcuffs (apparently) off, we'll be able to full evaluate Joe's ability to read and react.

Handcuffs or no handcuffs, we still need work on the offensive line. Cam was apparently holding Joe and the rest of the offense back last season, but show me an offensive coordinator who can be successful with a poor OL and I'll show you a miracle worker.

Very great to hear. Assuming we fix the line and add some speed/youth to WR I think this is the year where Joe can have a year where people like ravenseconbeast and edreedfromtheu will have nothing to back up their statements. Wait... they don't now either. Oh well, a good chance to see what Joe can do with a much longer leash.

A little discouraging though was the part saying Joe had been sacked the most of any QB where they had plenty of time to throw the ball. I guess a lot is receivers not getting separation, but still a lot is on himself.

Why does a Falcon fan care?

Not to mention this was already posted on our own front page.

Ok, this is the first step to Flacco becoming a star QB. Looking back on the past season, he needs to get rid of the ball quicker, step into his throws rather than throw off of the back foot, and go back to throwing short to mid-range passes.

Very nice, give him the ability to audible at the LOS, free him up to make calls he feels are appropriate. This is the next step into becoming a truly elite quarterback. Very excited about this

Mike Martz was pretty sucessful with the Bears O this season without an O-line.

Which makes Marts a miracle worker. Can anyone dispute this? (as an OC NOT HC)

Those are overrated.

Cam Cameron?

This is great news. I think this will definitely help with Flacco's development. The importance autonomy has on success shouldn't be diminished. If we get the wideout talent around Flacco, we improve the o-line around him, and if he can see open players a little better I don't see why this can't be his year. Very excited for this season to begin.

Their offensive line played a whole level better after their bye week. Ours seemed to get gradually worse, or at least, we lamented the failure more.

The Bears offense was ranked 30th in yards and 21st in point this past year. That is not successful.

it's about time! sheesh!

by not allowing Flacco to have more responsibility and not allowing him to audible out of plays (which Cam said earlier in the year that he was able to audible...smh!) has literally stunted his growth development into an elite QB. now this move will allow him to enter that upper escholon of QBs in the NFL.

GO GET'EM JOE!!

Yeah, 28th in yards per play, too, pretty bad...

If he doesn't take the "next step" this year, I'm sure all those that are "wacco" will be saying.... "they gave him too much freedom! It's not his fault, they didn't give him enough guidance!"
