D. Reed

Am I the only one that feels that he could become a good WR option for us?

I see some fans mentioning drafting a WR but i dont think we need them unless Mason leaves, we dont resign Tj/ Donte, an or a combination of those thoughts.

I want a WR in the first two rounds, but I also want D Reed to become the slot receiver if he shows he can handle it. I want the team to get younger and more athletic at the WR position.

Absolutely not. It might take a couple seasons but I think he could be a very solid 2 or 3 WR.

A lot of people seem to see him as the next Derrick Mason cuz Mase started out only as the Titans return man.

It seems that almost everyone here wants to at least see what David can do so you are certainly not alone in your thoughts Perfekt.
That said a combination of Mason retiring and Housh, Stallworth or both leaving is going to happen I guarantee it. I think David can be a solid wideout for us with some playing time under his belt and I certainly hope he does just that, but I would still like seeing us draft a Titus Young, Torrey Smith, or possibly even Jon Baldwin. David is fast in his own right but he doesn't compare to the speed of Smith or Young.

I feel you on wanting to get younger but I would rather address are needs at other positions. I dont think that we need a WR as much as we need linemen on both sides. If a great one falls to us sure im down but not in the first 2 rounds because we have more pressing issues.

What do you mean "or possibly even"? JB is better than both of them, while lacking the elite speed, he still has some wheels on him.

I mean "possibly even" because a lot of draftniks are projecting him has a 2nd round pick. No doubt Baldwin is solid in his own right and has all of them beat with his size, I just haven't seen quite the same "gamebreaking" speed as Young and Smith. Hope that answers your criticism, I'm not indicting Baldwin's talent. Should all shape up clearer after the combine.

For the record Perfekt, I would love seeing us grab a TRUE 3-4 DE (like JJ Watt) or a pass-rushing demon of a OLB (maybe a guy like Justin Houston). OT wouldn't be bad either but believe it or not, other team's O-lines are actually in worse shape than ours and I don't think there will be any OTs at #26 that won't be a "reach,' Costanzo out of BC may be there...

The pass rush is the only need bigger than WR in my opinion. Even if Gaither isn't re-signed, there are left tackles in the draft the Ravens could target beyond the first two rounds who could start immediately.

As for David Reed, he has potential, but potential alone shouldn't mean the team ignores the position in the draft when some talented players will be on the board in the early rounds.

Don't mind my man crush on JB. I just disagree with a lot of people who think he's not first round worthy while stating Young and Smith are. Dude's going to be a beast in the NFL

I don't think any of them are first round worthy (well maybe JB in the 30's), but I can certainly level with you about Young and Smith.

Torrey Smith has bust written all over him.

I'm cautiously optimistic about David Reed in the future. He has some potential, and could possibly be a good guy out of the slot, but I don't think he's the savior a lot of people want him to be. I want him to step up and help out the passing game, but I have a hard time placing high expectations on a 6th rounder. Just because we have Reed does not mean receiver is a position that should be ignored on draft day.

I think JB would be perfect for us in the first round. As long as they don't pick Young and especially Smith lol. I either want a DE/OLB or Baldwin, but if we don't snatch him in the first, I want Hankerson in the second.

Boldin, Baldwin/Hankerson, Reed is a promising trio

Lets not forget about Justin Harper waiting in the wings and the possibility of Marcus Smith seeing some snaps at wideout. I think Reed has the best chance out of our young guys but if Harper comes to camp a complete player ie. He can catch everything thrown his way, he will be a starter

Well said. I want an OT and a WR in the first two rounds. If we get the WR we want in the first round, then an OT can be taken in the second.

I doubt it happens. He has a golden opportunity to make the team in '09 but dropped the ball(literally). With little pressure on him last year in pre-season, I remember him dropping a couple of passes.

Im not making him out to be the saviour but I think he has really good hands an good field vision.

Im not against taking a WR if a really good one falls to use but Dline an Oline are more important. The game starts in the trenchs.

If Gaither and Yanda re-signed, there won't be any glaring holes on either line.

I'd love for the team draft a player like Cameron Jordan or J.J. Watt at pick 26 if they're on the board but with Redding on the roster and Kruger and Jones behind him, the coaches may not feel a 3-4 DE is a need.

On the o-line, the only position that would be a question mark long-term if Gaither and Yanda return would be center.

So tired of the Ravens signing WR and never using them. Reed will be the same if coaches don't change there thinking. reed needs rep with first string ,get him out there and let's see what he can do and by all means throw him the ball. You can look around the league and see all kinda of rookie wr making a name for there self if given a chance. we need to have a 3 wr set almost all the time, that would be reed ,mason, bolden if donta stay around great do a 4 wr set sometimes or 3 wr set with donte, reed and mason. Only thing I'm tring to say only so many wr can get on the field at one time and we don't use the ones we have properly now. Donte got 1 64yr pass, and some i don't know run arounds or something get use of a wr . so wr is not a high draft for me we have good ones use them.

Really? You see Gaither returning? His issue with commitment the Ravens know.
I do not see him as a viable long-term solution at tackle; I have given up on him and see him a malcontent.

He said 'if'... The Gaither situation is up in the air, it's an odd one.

Thanks for the clarification; I missed that all-important word. I am quite surprised how many want Gaither back.

We only want him back because we dont have anyone better. If we could draft someone better im all for it. Gaiither is a really good player when healthy.

I definitely think Baldwin is worthy of a first. If we needed another target for Flacco, then I would be all for taking JB in round 1. He's the 3rd best WR in the class, imo.

And I agree, Smith reminds me of DHB

I think JB might be worthy of a first (hence the parentheses maybe JB in the thirties) but I'm completely convinvced someone better will be there in the first round.

Unless a top 15-20 talent falls to us, we just can't pass up JB with our first pick. I'll be pissed if we pick a DB or an offensive lineman there.

I think David Reed is a solid WR, but I don't see him taking the lead role for a while. He does have great hands though. I don't see us taking a WR in the 1st round. I think we'll address the pass rush in the first round. We need stability on the opposite side of Suggs. Kindle's not a sure thing and even if he is cleared, we might have to limit his playing time like we did Stallworth after he broke his foot. I think we'll address either the defensive secondary or WR in the second round.

In the second round yes but I still feel that they need to get a good young pass rusher in the first round
