Hopefully this means they can work something out before the deadline, maybe even before the combine.

Things can't be going bad when a Six Foot Sub is involved. (This is reportedly what they had for lunch today)

Im not surprised it has taken this long actually. A bunch of greedy shark...I mean lawyers and owners trying to negotiate with a group of concussed football players seems like it would be time consuming...

That would've been Mawae sorted, but what about everyone else?

I need football next season so I have an excuse to spend 9 hours on a plane, travel thousands of miles and burn a couple thousand dollars.

Yeah but I read somewhere else that the mediator said there are still "significant differences" or words to that effect between the two sides.

Yeah, I caught word of that tonight on television, PA - and the next session with the Federal mediator isn't until Tuesday, March 1.

All we can do right now is hope - hope for the best from these mediated talks.

I read the same thing on ESPN. Apparently someone had texted Schefter from the meeting and said that these talks will continue into September cause there was such huge differences between the two.

Negotiations today went "better than expected" and they will resume tomorrow.

Hopefully this is a good sign that a deal will be soon followed.

I fully expect that there won't be a deal in the 11th hour...

...but there'll be one in the next two or three weeks. So the work stoppage won't dramatically be months-long and will have an anti-climactic resolution.

No such thing in this case, Franny. Anything that results in football = awesome resolution.

I say anti-climactic, only because nothing will change. Concussions will still be an issue, the owners will still push for 18 games if it's not already written into the new CBA, there'll still be mediocre tackling league-wide, and diva players will still think they're underpaid despite being in the top 10 highest-paid at their position.

I'm just tired of people on Facebook and Twitter and people in the comments section of these news stories, acting as if things will magically change overnight with a new CBA and it'll be a whole new league. It'll be the exact same NFL as we left it, just with our favorite players instead of replacement players in a strike-affected season.

Last year was a medicore season because players were playing with the uncertainty of the labor situation; now, with a new CBA, players will play with the uncertainty of their future pay because of some of the bad blood that may have been accrued during heated negotiations.

Do you guys think if they do get a CBA Done that it will take in effect right away or will they sort of make this off-season similar to last off-season and bump it to 6 years of Free Agency just to help teams prepare or will it go into effect ASAP? I was thinking that they could have the rookie scale set in place to work this year, we would operate under last off-season's rules and the new CBA would begin next season.
