Rod Woodson

I'm extremely angry right now:

The best part? We just lost our DB coach to the Cards (New DC) AND they signed Deshea Townsend as their DB coach on top of that.

Deshea and Rod would be my 2 top choices for that position in Pittsburgh. :gaah:

Firing Cable was a head-scratcher but the Raiders have made some good moves promoting Hue, hiring Saunders and now Rod.

Is 10-6 a possibility next season?

This has me scratching my head, though. Rod could have gone to a much better organization. From all reports over the years, he didn't like being on the west coast AND he didn't think very highly of the Raiders.

Well, if that's the case then I'm scratching my head as well.

Hey guys .. what do you think of the Oakland Raiders pulling Rod Woodson out of retirement to be their cornerbacks coach? How much, if any, of this is a way to entice Nnamdi Asomugha to come back to Oakland?

Hmmm, I knew nothing about Deshea Townsend retiring and becoming Arizona's DB coach. Wow, that was a quick transition to coaching after his playing career was over. lol

He was with Indy last year I believe. Not the most gifted player, but definitely one of the smartest.

Ah, this is where my post went. :) Only reason I posted it in the RavensTalk forum was because of the implications of the move to Asomugha possibly going back to Oakland for a chance to play under Woodson who he has spoken highly of and the interest Baltimore fans have had in him.

Anyone seen or heard anything about this angle on Oakland's move?

All I have to say is.... let's get Deion Sanders as the Ravens secondary Coach or Secondary assistant before someone snatches him up... lol jk.

Aso will probably leave regardless to go win a Super Bowl unless he decides money is more important than never hoisting the Lombardi Trophy and he stays in Oakland. Oakland will probably look in the draft for his replacement.

There, there Wardy. It will all be ok.

I think they hired him to try and persuade Asomugha to stay.

Good luck, Rod. Glad yer not coaching in the North.

It's his local team, he and his family live in California

And NFL Network have studios in California so he managed his studio appearances easily.

You're disappointed warden but it's a big deal to uproot your family and go back to the east coast when you're settled

A top pass rush and good secondary unit is going to make him look like a fantastic coach. Maybe he knows Pittsburgh is on the decline...

You don't have to tell me man. I spent 10 years in the military and if anyone else knows, it's former pro-athletes. But they are also well compensated.

The more I think about it though, the more I think Deshea Townsend is the right guy for us in the future and I am positive he will be coaching for us one day. Apparently he was smart enough to know that he couldn't coach his former teammates. Makes perfect sense.

I wish Rod nothing but the best.
