Harbaugh Signs New Contract Today

60 posts in this topic

John Harbaugh signed a new contract this morning to remain as head coach of the Ravens.

"This is much appreciated and I am thankful to Steve," Harbaugh said. "I want to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him, Ozzie (Newsome), Dick (Cass), our players and everyone else in the organization as we work to bring championships to Baltimore. We have a lot of great people who are Ravens. I’m proud to be part of this. We all push each other and pull together. I said it when I came here: 'It's about the team.' And, we plan to be a championship team."

"Steve (Bisciotti) said that we want to make sure John remains as our head coach and we reached a new agreement late last week and Coach signed it this morning," team president Dick Cass said. "Having John increases our opportunity to compete for the NFL championship every year, which is our goal."

Baltimore has 36-19 record under Harbaugh in 3 seasons.

Looks like BR.com has yet to post their article on it. I haven't found any information about the contract details. Would be interested in those as well.

Guess I'll have to wait until it trickles in.

I was reading the report on his extension on PFT and they have updated with the terms of his agreement. John was entering his final year of his deal and the extension is a 3 Year extension that goes through 2014.

Well, we knew it was coming, but I'm still glad to hear it confirmed. He has his faults, sure, but he's getting better with experience. Good for him and the team.

3 years was the perfect length for an extension... I didn't see Mr. Bisciotti giving out another 4-year extension after the Billick meltdown, especially considering John has yet to prove he can beat Pittsburgh and get this team to the promised land, or even win the division. It's time for us to take our rightful place atop the AFC North.

If we aren't getting around 24 points per game from the offense through the first quarter of the season, Cam will be gone... or should be gone.

It will be some excuse an someones else at fault when Cam fails again so its a mute point. Happy for Harbs tho really hope he stays around for a long time.

I may have heard on Sirius NFL Radion that the contract may have been for 3 yrs and 12 MM!
That's a lot of indecision.

Great personality, great work ethic, love him, he just needs to know when to take a stamp on the play calling on both sides if things aren't going well, other than that, this guy is an awesome coach

Very funny Berad! How about I amend my response with " I am unequivocally certain that John Harbaugh has a 3 yr deal worth 12MM! I heard this on NFL radio with amazing clarity"!

He should have been gone this season, CBA or not. And he most certainly should not have been given more control. I am not optimistic when it comes to Cam. They found a way to blame everyone else for the offense's failures this season, no doubt they'll find a new scapegoat if it fails to produce next season.

3years for 12mill is less than what his brother makes if true, I guess I can see why they haven't discussed the financial part of the agreement.
That's pretty funny. His brother who has never coached and NFL game is getting the bigger contract because he's the 'hot' name. Part of the reason why he's a hot name is because his brother John has had success at the NFL level as well.

John on the other hand. Three straight winning NFL seasons, three straight playoffs and one AFCCG. Talk about a difference in value.

Here's hoping he can get the players to fight for him instead of fight for their paychecks. It remains to be seen if his record is a result of his coaching methods or the deep talent we have on the squad.

I absolutely, positively agree with you, 100%. I'm not going to make any harsh predictions for this team, but my expectations are relatively low because I have a feeling that the defense will be dominant once again, and the offense will sputter and be mediocre at best. The most efficient way to fix this is to either sign Gaither or draft a new RT. Inject some speed into this offense and let go of Mason, Housh and Stallworth. Give Flacco more freedom, and let go of Cam Cameron.

I thought that it was a good idea that he would be more involved and given more control of this offense, but if we have another 9-7 year and get bounced from the playoffs after a game or two, something is wrong and it needs to be fixed, and the first step is to let go of Cameron.

Now Cam has all the control on the offense, and if this year he failed to score in the second half, there is no reason to keep him, even with all the 100% man-love from Harbs.

I just feel bad for the Veteran's. Ray won't be able to get his second championship, Reed his first, JJ his first, Mason his first, Heap his first, etc.

Yes, I feel that strongly about Cameron. Keeping him means that our offense won't be able to keep up with the Steelers, Patriots, Colts and others.

Didn't realize it was up to him to score alone.

You honestly feel the Ravens no shot at a title because Cam is returning?

The Patriots and Colts have two of the best QBs of all the time directing their offense. Any other offensive coordinator wouldn't get the Ravens to that level.

As for the Steelers, the Ravens averaged more yards and points per game than them in 2008 and 2009, with Cam as the OC.
