Five Guys

24 posts in this topic

Due to the talk on the Taco-Bell thread, I visited Five Guys this weekend. I am well, well, familiar with that place since I am pretty convinced they have the best burgers out there.

As I was enjoying my yummy burger I got to wondering. WHY is it so good.

Pretty safe to assume its fresh beef, not frozen. Another assumption is, it is at least 80/20 probably 70/30. But does that alone make it that good? I pulled off some sections of beef with no toppings and tried it by its self. Granted I dont have the most sophisticated pallet in the world, but I would like to think my taste buds are pretty in tune. I could not taste any seasoning on the beef.

What makes a five guys burger soo dang good?

By the way, their fries every bit as good as thrasher fries from the board walk.

I've heard that Five Guys is amazing, but I've never actually had one of their burgers myself.

Until then, for now, my preferred burger specialty joint is Fuddruckers. Sonic gets brownie points (or is it burger points?) for being pretty good for a fast food burger.

I gave Sonic (three locations) my best effort.
The verdict? they suck. Terrible burgers.

Shakes and drinks are amazing though.

For the fast food level though Checkers wins it for me. I can not and do not consider Five Guys fast food.

I first had Five Guys when I moved down to North Carolina to start Broadcasting School a few years ago. The Burgers and Fries are GOOD. I usually get a Cheeseburger and a Regular Order of Fries when I eat there and the fries fill me up quicker than the Burger, they give you so many fries that your usually full by even before you can finish the meal completely. I have stopped eating there and eat there only every once in a while, it is fattening so it's not healthy for you but the food is great.

Never had Five Guys and don't believe I've ever even heard of it. So that leaves me to say ...

Carl's Jr. anybody?

I also love In N' Out Burger. Mmmm.

Haven't had Sonic yet, although there is several of them in my area.

I love Five Guys, but about a year ago I slept over my friends house and his mom said she was getting us Dunkin Donuts for breakfast....we ended up eating 5 Guys @ 9 in the morning. I wanted to throw up.

Craving some right now though.

Is this a food chain like McDonalds? I'm from Australia so I have no idea.
Uhm.... kind of, but not really..

McDonald's does sell burgers and they do sell fries, but Five Guys food is vastly superior.

I used to get talked into going there on a diet. I think the burger is 985 calories. Have fun. Load up on fries and soda too- show your diet who's boss. Awesome burgers though, hard to say no too.

If you guys like Five Guys, next time you're in the DC Metro area in northern VA, I strongly recommend Ray's Hell Burger. Some of the best burgers I've ever had.

And order The Punisher.

Thrasher's has a special place in my heart... so while Five Guys' fries are really good, they still can't compete with Thrasher's.

Man, I'm starving now, hahaha

Dude! You don't count calories at a fast food joint! Are you crazy??

And I hate when people do that. If you're on a diet, just stay away til you're at where you wanna be. Fast food should be greasy, full of sodium and carbs, tons of calories, and delicious. None of this "healthy menu" crap that some of these chains got goin on these days. Leave them be!

Terrible, but probably worth it here and there. My diet used to have me eating under 1700 calories a day. This is a whole days worth of food. I am no longer on the diet but still have a hard time eating like this.

I can probably eat at a feast for three days straight and gain probably five pounds at the most. It probably has something to do with my age, or my metabolism is just that great.
